《Alphas》Luna

"Do I have to do this?" I whined, shooting a pleading look at Naomi. She nodded her head, shoving a powder blue dress into my hands with a pair of black stilettos. "But Naomi-"
"No buts. This day is one of the most crucial days of your life. Now go change, we need to make sure you look stunning." I groaned, but eventually complied to Naomi's orders. She ushered me into a room and closed the door. "Make sure you show me!"
I slipped the dress on, not bothering to hide my disappointment when I noticed how long it was. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying long dresses are ugly, but they aren't my favorite. I preferred my legs to be free, exposed, and not covered.
That way, I was more comfortable.
Putting aside the length of the dress, I did however admire the gorgeous garment.
It was blue. But not just the color of an Aquafina water bottle, or even the sky. It was lighter than that, so light that someone might even mistake it for white. But if you stared close enough, you could tell that it was undoubtedly blue.
And then I noticed the shape of the dress, how it ran smoothly down my body, but still managed to show every curve to me. It hugged my waist, and the area around my breasts, putting an emphasis on them both.
The top of the dress was coated in crystals, tracing the outline of the deep V-neck of the dress which showed off a fair amount of cleavage.
I believed the V-neck was there so nothing would interfere with the necklace I would be receiving during the ceremony. And it wasn't just any necklace, it was the necklace which had been passed down from centuries of Luna's. And now it was my turn to wear it.
Now, in case you're wondering what ceremony I'm talking about, it's called Reina de la Luna, or Queen of the Moon.
It's the ceremony where they coronate me into being the official Luna, granting me the right to make decisions regarding the pack. It's also the night that I'm supposed to be introduced to the other pack members of high ranking. And that includes Connor's dad and his stepmom.
No pressure whatsoever...
A knock on the door interrupted my train of thoughts. And shortly after, Naomi started speaking.

"Are you dressed? Brooklynn we only have an hour until you're supposed to be there. And I still have to do you hair!" Naomi's voice was strained and tense, enough so that it made me stress out too.
I slipped my feet into the heels, and scurried out to see Naomi already holding heating spray and a curling iron. She patted the chair, rather impatiently, and I sat down in it.
She began working on my hair, tugging and spraying each strand into a perfectly sculpted curl. I was stunned at how fast and how skilled she was at curling hair, considering she was wearing a prosthetic arm.
I sat there in silence, letting her focus and work. But eventually she started a conversation.
"So how are you and Connor?"
His name sent a jolt of electricity through me, and I couldn't help but smile. Everytime someone would even say his name, I would become excited and happy. Especially since the events of last week had been repeated multiple times already.
"We're great," I answered, "We've actually been getting along."
"I've noticed, you guys have seemed a lot closer these past couple of weeks." I caught a drift in Naomi's tone, hinting that she was already well aware of what was going on. But despite that, I still kept it on the downlow. I wasn't going to come clean until I was 100% sure that she knew.
"Yeah, maybe because he hasn't been such an asshole lately." I joked, coughing out a glob of hairspray that fell into my mouth.
"Or maybe because you two have been fucking."
Fuck.
I glanced at Naomi's face in the mirror, and she glanced back at me with raised eyebrows. She stared hard at me for a good five seconds, before she looked back down.
"Did you at least use protection?" Naomi questioned, removing the clip from my hair to release a second layer of hair.
My stomach dropped when she asked that, and my wolf cussed me out.
How the fuck could I have forgotten about protection?!
"Oh my god," I mumbled, "I'm an idiot."
And I wasn't lying. I truly felt like the biggest fool on earth, we had fucked three times this week and not once did we use a condom.
"You forgot protection, didn't you?" Naomi sounded disappointed, filling me with even more guilt. "Brook!"

Naomi's chastising made me want to die, but then again, she had every right to call me out. This was a big deal, I could end up pregnant at 18.
Shit.
"Fuck!" I shouted in disbelief. "I hate children."
Naomi snickered, and I shot her a glare.
"Don't be upset at me, I didn't tell you to not use protection." She was right, this wasn't anywhere near her fault. It was all mine.
Before either of us could say anything, there was a knock on the door. I looked in the mirror to see Nevaeh peering in, telling Naomi and I that I had to be out in ten minuets.
By then, Naomi had already finished my hair. She set her curling iron to the side, and grabbed a clip. It was a wolf clip, a rather beautiful one I might add.
She placed the clip on the top of my hair, where the braid was. Her bereaved eyes lingered down at the braid. I remembered this morning when Nevaeh had to do my braid, since Naomi couldn't braid with just one hand. I remember the look on her face as she tried to hide her disappointment, but she couldn't.
And now she was showing that same sadness again.
I stood up and turned to face her, lending her a soft smile. She returned it, but her eyes didn't. Her eyes remained dull and bitter, the type of look that you'd see from someone attending a funeral.
Once she noticed me staring at her, she linked her arm in mine.
"Let's go crown you the Luna."
We arrived when the party was in full swing, which is typically how these kind of ceremonies were. The Luna was supposed to arrive later, so she could walk in and receive the most attention.
Of course, this plan worked. Nearly everyone turned to gawk at me, holding out their hands and praising me as a Luna. I grasped some of their hands, offering as many smiles and greetings as I could.
I wanted to show them that I would be a good–No a great Luna.
I continued to walk, not pausing once. This was mostly because of Naomi ushering me up to a stage, where I stood out and faced the pack.
Everyone was here tonight, and for once I was able to see how big this pack was. At least a thousand pack members crammed together tightly to witness Reina de la Luna.
And all eyes were on me.
I looked towards the large crowd of people, and smiled at a few familiar faces. There stood the four musketeers. That's what I had began to call Kai, Nevaeh, Emilia and Theo. I had never actually seen them apart, so I just figured it would suit them.
But the one person I didn't see, was my best friend. I hadn't seen Fiona in days, and that scared me. I couldn't stand the thought of losing her too.
I turned my focus to the fairly old woman that was walking up to the stage. She held a box in her hand, and not just a UPS shipping box. Like a red velvet covered box.
The woman was pale, and she almost reminded me of Casper the Friendly Ghost.
I realized how rude that sounded, but it was true.
I stood face to face with a little round lady with bleached hair and green eyes.
"Brooklynn Bradley," She greeted, "The honor is mine to bestow the heirloom necklace."
She set the box on a table that was next to me, which I forgot was there. The lady, whose name I didn't know, opened the box.
I hid my boredom behind a smile.
This is so cliche. My wolf butted in.
I had to agree with her, seeing as this ceremony was like a high school graduation.
"This pure blue diamond necklace has been passed down from Luna to Luna for generations. Crafted from the finest rock in the world, Brooklynn Bradley, I now announce you Luna and mother of our pack."
She stood behind me, and clipped the necklace around my neck.
Feeling an overwhelming sense of pride and power was my dream. And now I was living it. I worked for my spot, and here I was.
Standing in front of hundreds of people who now followed me proved that I am a leader. I'm the last living Bradley and now it was my turn to keep my name going.
It was my turn to get where I wanted to be; on top. And I promised myself that I would burn down the world to get there.
No matter what I had to do.
