The Gray God

This is the sequel to The Gray Mage, however, reading it is not required to understand this story. Three centuries after the god Rynovar claimed Earth as his own domain, ending the Fourth Age of Magic, he ruled the world from a floating continent. Deciding to allow humans a chance at having a wished granted or a question answered, Rynovar created a quest fifty years into his reign. Upon completing the quest, those who undertook it would be granted an audience with him and permission to make a single request or ask a single question. However, two and a half centuries after he issued the quest, none had succeeded and the quest was believed impossible, several stages of it having never before been completed. When nineteen-year-old Cyrus met Lyda at a restaurant, he broke the norm of his life cleaning up his brothers' messes and keeping them behaving to avoid causing issues for the public. Upon hearing her desire to earn enough money to attempt Rynovar's quest, Cyrus chose to help her complete what was believed to be one of the quests' impossible stages, revealing that he himself had a question for the god he wanted answered...

It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. Aspects of Nature

There was a time that I was just another ordinary guy living an ordinary life but that all changed the day that I threw myself in front of an oncoming car to save another pedestrian. But to my surprise that wasn't the end. Instead I was given an opportunity to carve out a new life for myself and others on a new world populated by creatures both wonderful and horrifying in a new non-human body. And that wasn't all in this new world I had found myself in people could get stronger by means of interacting with a strange System that had some similarities with the games that I used to play back on Earth and I had to make use of this to survive and create a place where other members of my new species could settle when they arrived. This story uses a System similar to the ones in such stories as 'The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound' and 'The New World' with a few twists of my own added in.
