"Do you need a lift home?"
"Not today." I reply as Jake and I walk out of our last class. "Corey doesn't have training so I'll just wait by his car."
"Well I'm always here if you need me."
"I'll keep that in mind." I playfully punch Jake's shoulder and he smiles.
"I'll see you tomorrow Lexie."
"Bye Jake." I watch as he walks out to the parking lot before retrieving my bag from my locker.
I gasp as I'm shoved against the lockers. My bag drops to the floor and my arms are pinned above my head.
"Hiya cupcake." Finley is standing over me.
"Finley?" I narrow my eyes at him.
"I'm glad you remembered, Finn is fine." He smirks down at me. My breath hitches as he gets closer and I try to maintain my composure. "I'll pick you up Friday at eight."
"What?"
"For our date?" Seriously?
"What date?"
"Don't play dumb Lexie I know you want me."
Oh my god he is gorgeous!
Concentrate Alexandria!
"What gave you that impression?"
"Playing hard to get huh?"
Just breathe!
"I'm not playing Finley I don't want to go out with you." I try my best to sound confident. I don't care how gorgeous he is. He is a player. I don't need a guy like that.
Finn seems taken back by my words. He stares at me for a moment and I feel myself blush. His smirk grows and I know he noticed.
"COLLINS!" Finn is pushed away from me and suddenly I'm being pulled towards the parking lot. My eyes follow the hand holding me and I see a very angry Corey.
"Corey?"
"Shut up Lexie just get in the car." He opens the passenger door and pushes me inside. He rounds the car slamming the door shut and shoving the keys into the ignition.

"What's wrong?" I ask softly. Corey stares at the road as he drives.
"Stay away from Finn Collins." Corey says finally. "He is bad news. He uses girls, Alexandria."
"Don't you do the same?" I blurt out but then put my hand over my mouth. Corey chuckles.
"Yeah I guess but I don't want that happening to you."
"He doesn't look like a footballer." I state.
"Well he is and one you should stay away from."
"I didn't want to talk to him." I lie. "He came up to me."
"What did you say?"
"I told him I wasn't interested."
"Good." Corey nods to himself. "Good." The rest of our drive is silent. I realise this is the most Corey and I have spoken ever. I smile to myself at the thought. Maybe my cousin isn't that bad.
...
"Your highness your father has requested that I return to Denmark." Robert says over breakfast.
"You have spoken to him?" I ask. I have been trying to contact my father but I was informed he was away.
"No miss, his majesty's guard told me."
"Of course. Well I have been in America a week and a half and nothing unspeakable has happened so I agree, you should return to Denmark."
"Thank you your highness." Robert bows out of the room and heads to pack as Corey walks in.
"Do you ever get sick of the bowing and the titles?"
"What do you mean?"
"Nevermind you probably love it." Corey rolls his eye and takes a seat opposite me.
"I have never known anything else." I say quietly. "That is partly why my father wanted me to come here. He wanted me to experience being..." I struggle to find the right word.

"Common?" Corey fills in the blanks.
"I guess you could say that."
"Do you want to watch our training today?" Corey asks and I'm a little shocked. For the last week Corey has liked that Jake was driving me home. Corey said he was embarrassed to have me watch.
"Your sure?"
"Yeah. You can ask Jake to stay with you if you want. He probably won't because of-"
"Finley." I cut him off.
"Yeah but no harm in asking."
"Thanks Corey." I say and he smiles. He shoves a piece of toast in his mouth and stand from the table. I get a muffled 'ready?' And I nod follow him to the door.
"What are you doing?" Corey asks as he buckles his seatbelt.
"Just ringing my father again."
"Okay." Corey turns the radio off and we start the drive to school.
"Princess?" A person answers my father's phone and I realise automatically it is not the King.
"Max?" I address my father's personal guard.
"Your highness is something wrong?"
"I was wondering if I could speak to my father."
"His majesty is in a meeting. Should I get him to call you?"
"I am on my way to school. If is he is free after three this afternoon my time then..."
"I will tell him your highness."
"Thank you Max."
"Have a pleasant day princess."
"You-" I'm cut off as he hangs up on me. I glare at my phone and Corey notices.
"What's up?"
"This is what sucks about being royal!"
"And what is that?"
"I can't just talk to my father. Instead I talk to his guard who then just hangs up!" I clench my fists.
"Sorry." Corey says softly as we pull into a park.
"All good." We both hop out as like normal Corey moves off quickly to find his friends.
I get to my locker just as someone grabs my wrist.
"Morning cupcake!" Finn's voice sends me over the edge. It is bad enough he had been hounding me for a week and a half now. It is not like I don't like the attention but I'm doing my best not to like him. With all of that and my father apparently too busy to talk to me, well you could say I'm pissed!
I don't wait for Finn to say another word instead I lift my knee with force. My knee hits him in his special place and he drops to the ground. I step over him slamming my locker shut.
Don't mess with me!

8 105SLAVES TO THE MOON: Denying Brady
Rejecting a mate is punishable by a fate worse than death. I knew this but that didn't discourage me from doing the unthinkable. *******Brady was the single most conceit, selfish and arrogant blue blood I'd ever known. Merciless to my feelings, he was beloved by everyone but me. He was also one step away from inheriting his throne to become Alpha. A fact that made everyone blind to the cruel poison he'd held and used to ruin my early youth. I hated him and I'd hated him most when I came of age.Where on my sixteenth birthday, as all werewolves did, I found my mate - the other half of my soul in him. Broken and vengeful I swore and refused to give myself willingly to him. Not for any other reason, not for the gods and definitely not for Him. Not even when the cost of rejecting a mate resulted in a fate worse than death. I hated him, I'd never forgive him, I didn't want him and I was so certain I'd never love him.At least that's what I thought.Too bad, I realised it a little too late. ********READ AT OWN RISK: Your heart will break to pieces before it fixes itself back together. A 3rd Place Winner of the Official Short Story Contest on Inkitt, Denying Brady is a multifaceted and intense love story. Highly Recommended for a tension-filled read where no one is innocent but a happy ending is guaranteed.
