“How was practice?” Janet asked as I fell on the sofa.
“Exhausting,” I said.
“You smell so bad,” she said as the guys laughed.
“Hungry?” Joel asked me.
“Yes please. Anything you have I want,”
“Okay,” he said laughing.
“Grill cheese?”
“Yes,”
Liam sat next to me and gave me a bottle of water. “Jake was really hard on you, today,”
“He wants to break me so that I’ll quite. Every team I’ve been on they’ve done the same thing,” I sighed.
“You are really good,” Joel said handing me a plate.
“Thanks man,” I said taking a bit.
Food always taste better when your hungry and in pain.
“You know a cold shower always helps,” Janet said in fresh clothes.
“I know, but I just want food,”
“We get our coaches in a week, so you won’t have to worry about Jake anymore,”
“The coaches are the worst,” I said.
“You’ll be fine,”
“Not if your little boyfriend going to be there. He’ll give me hell,”
“It’s not that bad,” Joel said joining us.
“For now,” I said getting up. “I’m going to shower and take a nice long nap,”
“Okay,” they said as I left the room.
I filled up the bathtub with warm water and soap.
I took off my sweaty clothes and climbed into the tub.
I lied there in the water and closed my eyes.
As much as I hate to admit it but Jake really did push me.
I haven’t been in so much pain in my life.
I felt a tear rolled down my check and I quickly wiped it away.
Whenever I’m angry or in pain I tend to cry.

Then I get pissed and cry again.
I drained the tube and slowly stood up.
I turned on the shower and washed off.
I got out and wrapped a towel around me.
I change into sweats and joined the guys in the living room. I sat next to my sister and rested my head on her shoulder.
There was a knock on the door and Liam got up to answer it.
“Hey man,”
“Hey guys, what’s up?” he said as two guys walked in.
I recognized them from football.
“Who are the cuties?” one of them said.
“Janet and Toni, our roommates,”
“Huh?” the other one asked.
“A little mix up,” I said.
“Oh,” they said.
“I’m Travis and this is Chris,”
“Hi,” Janet and I said.
“We play football together,” I said.
“Okay, yeah,” Chris said.
“Jake hates you,” Travis said.
“Thanks man,” I said smiling sarcastically.
“Sorry about him,” Chris said.
“It’s fine. I don’t like the guy either,”
They laughed and sat down with Joel and Liam.
****
The next day I woke up bright and early and made everyone eggs and pancakes.
We eat together and shortly after we left for practice.
Janet wished me good luck and I headed to the girls locker room.
I opened the locker, where I put my football pads and they were gone.
I looked around for them and they were no where.
No other sport is using this locker room right now.
I sighed.
Jake.
I got up and marched to the boy’s locker room.
I walked in and all the guys jumped back in shock.
I rolled my eyes and looked for Jake.
“Hey Joel,”
“Whoa, what are you doing here?” he asked.

“Where’s Jake?”
“In the back,”
“Thanks,” I said.
“What did he do?” he asked.
“Yo all-star! Where are my pads?”
He looked at me shocked. He was in the middle of changing.
“Right here,” he said smirking at me.
“Don’t touch my stuff,” I glared.
I opened the bag to make sure everything was there and it was full with pads.
I glared at him.
“Your not funny you’re an ass. Give me my football pads now,”
“Or what doll face?”
“Don’t test me, all-star,”
“Come on man, just give her, her pads,” Joel said.
“Yeah, you said yesterday she was good,”
I smirked at him. “Really now?”
“Don’t get cocky with me,”
“Why not all-star,”
“You don’t belong here,”
“Give me my pads and I’ll be gone,”
“Here,” Travis said.
“Thanks,” I said taking my things.
“I’ll see you on the field,” I said winking at Jake.
“And I’ll see you in bed,”

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.
