"It looks like we have the type of evidence to win this case and have Ms. Parker behind bars." My lawyer said smiling.
I nodded my head smiling. "What about Raymond?"
"Um, see that's the problem. In the video, there's no signs of foul play on his end. He looks like he actually came in to save your son. We will need more evidence if you feel as if he's a threat to you and your son." He said, making my smile disappear.
"What do you mean? That maniac broke into my apartment. Isn't that enough?"
"Ms. Marshall, please calm down and listen to me. The video you send has no audio, so there's no telling what was said. For all we know, Christian, your son, was screaming out in pain, as loud as he possibly can and Raymond, the child's father, rushed in to save his son. That's how the courts will perceive it."
"I'm listening, but what I'm not understanding is he beat me and raped me, isn't there something within those lines that–"
"Ms. Marshall, you're not listening. He served his time in Orleans Parish Prison for his previous chargers. Unless you have new information and evidence as of right now on his acts, I cannot help you." He states.
I bit my bottom lip, sighing. "Okay."
He looks at me and nods his head. "Okay. I spoke to the judge and after the Child Protective Service does their investigation, which is tomorrow, the court will set up a date for you. I'll contact you about the dates."
"Okay." I gather my things and literally speed walked out of his office.
Once I exit the building, I see Chris' car parked right in front. I jog to the car, letting myself in.
"What they say?" He asked, pulling off.
"We have enough evidence to put Parker in jail, but not any for Raymond because in the video he was playing hero." I answered back, rolling my eyes.
"That's dumb as fuck. Bet bread the courtroom just as corrupt as the police. If you was a white woman, they'd already have Raymond and Parker in prison." He said shaking his head.
"I don't even care anymore. As long as he keeps his distance from us, I'm fine." I laid my head on the window.
"You told yo lil boyfriend yet?" I heard Chris ask.
"What little boyfriend? And told who what?"
"Aug and you know what we talked about yesterday. I'm not bout to say it."
"What were we talking bout?"
"I'm not finna say it. So think back in that big ass head of yours and recall what we talked about on the phone." He said, making me straight face him.

"You're rude." I roll my eyes, trying to think about the conversation we had yesterday. My kind is literally clouded with so much that the only thing I've been really thinking about is Christian, Raymond, Parker, and Peter. I stare at the side of Chris' face, biting the inside of me cheek, trying to figure out what in the world was he talking about.
"You a dumbass sometimes. Did you tell August we fucked?"
"Oh! No, not yet. I've been so caught up in trying to get the cps off my back and the case together. I'll tell him later on tonight. I'm going to go visit him while he does these trailers for his album."
"You like him, don't you?" He smirked.
I blushed, laughing a bit. "Do not start, Christopher. I mean, he's so nice to be around, he's amazing, charming, he's just so... Him. There's so much about him that I just like and it's not even anything sexual or lustful. Yes, we've kissed once, but I feel as if I met my soulmate."
"Really? Tell me about it." He suggested.
"You know how you can just connect with someone even without actually meeting? That's how I feel with August. Even when we first met, I just felt his love even upon entering the room he was in. And after a few weeks of knowing him, I was taking a liking of him and I went home and I prayed. I said 'Lord, I don't know why he's here in my life, showing me better, making me feel better, but what's his motive? Is he going to stay in my life? Who is he? Is he the one for me?'I ended my prayer, got up off the floor and later on that day, I heard a voice whisper, He's your husband. Just wait for me."
I stopped talking and shook my head. I look over at Chris and he had a huge smile on his face.
"Aww, my sister's in love!" He laughed. "I can see it though. On some real shit, I want you with August. He know how life goes and you can already tell he all about you. Nigga be cheesing hard as fuck when somebody say yo name. Both of y'all niggas in love. I need a bitch, man." He mumbled, pulling up at his house.
"That's why you're single now. Stop calling these women b-word and called them queens." I said, getting out the car.
I hear Chris mock me before he opens his front door. Mama Joyce was here watching Christian for him, since he came with me to the attorney's office.
"Look, there's mommy." I hear Joyce say.
I see Christian run to me in full speed, his soft curls bouncing with every step he took.

"Hi, man." I said, getting on my knees. "I miss you."
"I miss you too." He said.
I smile at him, taking a look at his arm. It was getting better, most of his skin was growing back, but you can tell that bruise was going to be hard to miss once he was completely healed.
"Is your arm bothering you, baby?" I asked.
"No. Nana said we was gonna make cookies! Come on, mama." He grabbed my arm, pulling me toward the kitchen.
As we entered the kitchen, Mama Joyce and Chris fat self was right behind us.
"Hi, Mama." I said, hugging Joyce.
"Hey, sweetheart, you alright?" She smiled at me.
"As fine as I can be." I said.
"That's good," she hugged me again, kissing my cheek. "Let's bake these cookies before that boy starts fussing."
"Who?" Chris asked, closing the refrigerator door.
"You." She said, making Christian and I laugh.
"Christian, you suppose to be my main mans, why you laughing at me?" Chris said, grabbing Christian, throwing him in the air.
Christian giggled, "I'm sorry."
"Mhm."
I stayed there with Christian for maybe an hour or two before it was time for me to go see August. I really didn't want to leave Christian, but I didn't want to leave August hanging.
"Hopefully, you'll be back home with mommy tomorrow." I said, smiling at my baby.
"I'm going home? Yay!" He hugged me.
"I know. Look mommy has to go see August before it gets too late. See you tomorrow, bug." I said, kissing all over his face.
"I love you, mommy." He said, making me feel so warm in the inside.
"I love you too."
As Chris and I arrived to the place where August's trailer video was being held.
"You can leave if you want. I'll just have August take me home." I said.
"Ight. Tell me how y'all lil talk goes." He said, yawning.
"Alright, be careful driving home." I told me stepping out of the car.
He nodded, pulling out the the parking lot. As I stepped into the building, it was literally people all other the place. I continue to walk to where I see the camera crew. When j stepped into the room, I was greeted with August laying in a bed.
"I don't really know
I mean shit that's usually my everyday
Why am I always thinkin'?
This thing called life is just a bitch
Sometimes I talk to ma'self too much
Who is God?
A nigga just be tryin' ta' figure it out
If I die will I go to heaven?
I'm always thinkin' ma' brain always gone in a blank
Is God ma' friend or does God love me?
I got to do better
What is this?
Niggas say when you come up, money changes everythin'
I got to do more
What is that?
No fuck that no it don't
More money more motherfuckin' problems
What's with this shit about we supposed to survive right?
Who put me here?
Where do I go next?
What's next?
That's somethin' ta' think about
What's this shit really about?
How did I even get hea'?
Why don't you want to see a nigga eat?
Bah! Bah! Is that the police?
I be damned if a nigga kill me
You win some you lose some
Who is policing the police?
I heard this sayin'
What mark am I going to leave here on this earth?
Why are you mad?
Can you answer?
What the fuck you mad
What is life?
What is this?
Do you know?
What is this thing called life?"
The camera crew was shooting different scene for this promo. There was a scene with August in a bed, looking out the window, in a bathroom, and outside.
I can't even lie, I teared up when I saw the full thing on the screen. He was doing amazing in every single scene. I wiped my tears and walked up behind him.
I poked him in his side and his reaction was completely hilarious.
"Nigga, I'll–" he turned around seeing me smiling up at him. "You almost got got. Don't sneak up on a black man."
I laugh, hugging him. "You did so wonderful. I'm so proud of you, August."
"Thank you, baybeh." He kissed my forehead, making me hug him tighter.
"I need to talk to you as well." I mumbled against his chest.
"Ight, come on. I'm bout ta' head ta' Popeyes real quick."
I nodded. "Lead the way then."
When we got to his car, I could feel my palms getting a bit sweaty. For some reason, I was getting nervous. I mean, why should I feel nervous to tell August I had one sexual experience with Chris? I'm not his girlfriend.
Once he drove off, I could feel myself shaking with nervousness. "So, I just wanted to keep everything honest between us because I do like you August and I don't want you to view me as some hoochie mama or a gold digger."
"Whatcha talkin' bout ma?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"When I was younger, I had sex with Chris." I blurted out.
As soon as the sentence exited my mouth, I felt the car come to an abruptly stop. "Y'all what?"
