"Neha baby. We love you so much, please wake up baba." The woman said before she headed off her to work. It took her a long time to grasp that her daughter was in a coma and would most likely never wake up. But as a mother, she refused to like her daughter go.
As she was walking out the room a faint voice called out, "Mama?"
Never had the woman spun around so fast to see her daughter struggling to move. For a few seconds but what felt like hours, it dawned to the woman that her daughter need medical attention because she had woken from a coma after three years.
"Beti. Calm down. I'm going to get the doctors. " Her father said finally snapping out of his shock. His pale and weak daughter however was determined to sit up.
"Nahin I have to see Kabir I have to tell him that-" Neha stopped mid sentence looking down at her body. Tears immediately began to flow, "My baby. What happened to my baby? Ka hai Kabir? [Where is Kabir?] Why isn't anyone telling me anything. "
Her parents couldn't meet her eyes.
That's when her heart dropped.
That when she realized that she had lost her child.
Why else was she even in the hospital?
And Kabir, he must hate her...
Suddenly the machine around her started to beep faster as she clutched the side of her bed rails. Within minutes, the doctors rushed into her room and that was all she remembered before everything turned to darkness.
2 0 1 9.
The year was 2019. Neha was in shock when she was explained that she was in a coma for nearly six years.

What was she supposed to feel?
Grateful? That she woke up to the land of the living? Upset?
Neha would consider herself to be a fair person. She wouldn't characterize herself as the clingy or jealous types of girls, but how was she suppose to feel when she received the news that Kabir had a family?!
"Baby? Neha?!" Her mother waved her hand in front of her face.
"Huh?"
"He has a family." She said slowly.
"Mom kyu mein?! Why did you save me?" She looked at both of her parents. She was surprised to see them look away from her graze. They were hiding something. She was so sure of it.
"Tell me." She hissed angrily.
"Beta." Her father started, "We couldn't afford to keep you hooked up to the machine..." he paused, "Kabir paid for all your medical treatments...to keep you on that machine."
She blinked. "Kya?!" She sat down on hospital bed to process what her parents explained to her. Her thoughts were completely jumbled. Why would Kabir want to keep her alive even after he had gotten married and had a kid?
She needed to speak to him. She needed answers. She sighed as she closed her eyes. Neha knew that sleep wasn't the answer to all her problems but it sure did help her escape the life was she stuck in. Her mother watched her daughter doze off, feeling helpless and worried for her. Kabir was Neha's everything and now she feared how Neha would move on.
Her father on the other hand was outside his daughter's room speaking to the doctor in charge.
"Because of this accident, she may have no knowledge that she was pregnant." The doctor explained, "Let natural take its course. When she remembers, it best that you and your wife tell her then."

Her father nodded.
"But doctor do you think she'll be able to handle the pain of losing a child amongst everything that's happened?"
Doctor shrugged, "Honesty it all depends on how strongly Neha wanted to be a mother."
"She was so excited." Her father said sadly.
"As your daughter's doctor, I would request that you refrain from giving my patient anymore news that will cause her to faint."
"Doc! A word?" Kabir said walking out of Neha's room.
Neha's father nodded to Kabir as he walked away.
"Doctor, she keeps fainting...is that normal?"
"It's from stress. Her body has been in coma for many years. It's still getting used to working and functioning. Whenever she receives news that she can not handle, she passes out." The doctor explained, "She needs constant care and a stress free environment."
"But this can be fixed?"
"With time, yes it is possible."
"How much time?" Kabir pressed.
The doctor looked at him with fixed stare, "As much time as her body needs to adjust."
"Kabir baby I'm so sorry. I had no idea that-" Serena immediately followed him.
Kabir ran his hand through his hair in distress while trying to wat away her hands. He knew that it wasn't her fault yet he couldn't help but blame Serena.
"It's okay." He stated.
"No its not. I messed everything up." She said, "Pooja was missing you and you know how she gets when your not at home and I thought that it would be a nice surprise-"
"It would have been nice if you called first." He said coldly.
"Kab-"
"Papa!" Pooja smiled as she saw her father.
Momentarily forgetting his anger, Kabir smiled and caught his daughter in a huge bear hug, "Princess!"
"Did you eat?" He asked as he pick her up.
Pooja shook her head.
"Was waiting for you and mommy!"
"Chalo let's eat then." He carried her toward the hospital food court.
"Mama!" Pooja called out, making Kabir pause. Then he looked up to Serena and motioned for her to come along.
Serena watched from afar as she followed them. She smiled knowing that his anger toward her was gone.
She loved her little family the way that it was and that's exactly how she planned on keeping. Serena may pity Neha but she'll never let that girl ruin her family. It was there when she decided that she needed to throw Neha out of Kabir's heart for good by the time Neha leaves the hospital.
