AYANNA'S POV:

"Ayanna, sweety, are you going to get out of bed today?" Mom asks.

"No," i mutter and look at the clock. It's 12:00 A.M. the morning after our break up.

"Honey, there will be other guys. This Bryson guy isn't worth yourr tears," she explains.

"He was the one i wanted though," I whisper and Mom wraps her arms around me when i sit up in bed.

"I know it hurts right now, but i promise it will get better," she replies and wipes tears from my eyes.

"I'm going to Max's place," I mutter and hop out of bed before i start crying again.

I never knew a broken heart could hurt so bad, but it's worse than i ever imagined. Much worse.

I hear Mom sigh, but she walks out of my room anyway and i stare at myself in my body length mirror. My blond hair is puffy and gross, my blue eyes are sad and weird colored, my face is rounder than other girls, i'm not skinny. I couldn't figure out why Bryson even looked at me before when he had everybody else in our school. Now everything makes sense.

I slip on some sweatpants and an Aero shirt before heading downstairs and walking out to my car. I sit in the car for a couple minutes and sigh. If loving someone hurts this much, why do i even want to try anymore? If you ask me, love's not worth it.

I pull into Max's drive way and walk into the house without even knocking. Yeah, Max and I are that close.

I walk into his room and quickly turn around.

"Jeez, ever heard of knocking?"Max shouts and i hear Maggie giggle. I blush and try to get the image of Max and Maggie really really really kissing. It was very disturbing. I did not need to see that from my best friends.

"You didn't have to look so mortified, Aya, we weren't even close to naked," Maggie explains and i roll my eyes.

I turn back around and find Max staring at me with narrowed eyes.

"What's the matter?" He asks and i plop down on his bed and feel tears prick my eyes.

"Bryson and I broke up," I say quietly and Maggie's eyes go wide. Max clenches his fist and stares at me in shock.

"What did that dumb brick do?" Max snaps.

"He,um, him and Jake were, uh, basically just using me. Bryson only ever talked to me and was nice to me because him and Jake wanted me to spill all my secrets so they, um, so they... So they could completely humliate me in front of the whole school," I explain sadly.

"That... That... That dick," Maggie states andd looks mad enough to wrestle a full grown grizzly bear.

"I can't believe they would do that. I mean, i knew he wasn't good news, but to stoop that low... Wow," Max says and stands up.

"Where are you going?"I ask curiously and Max looks at me like i'm stupid.

"Uh, to go kill Bryson. Where did you think i was going?" Max states and I stare at him.

"No, Max, don't. Bryson could talk to Coach and get you benched for the rest of the season," I warn him and he rolls his eyes.

"You think i care about that? That dick hurt you and now he is going to get the beating of his life," Max says and proceeds to walk out of his room.

I share a look with Maggie before we both go sprinting after him.

"Max! No, just let it be," I shout, but he continues to walk to his car.

I hop in the other side and he gives me a look that could kill pigeons in mid air.

"What do you two think you are doing?" Max asks when Maggie piles into the back of his car.

"Trying to stop you from doing something that you will regret later on," I reply.

"oh, that's where you're wrong. I'm not going to regret this at all," he says back and drives to Bryson and Maggie's house with me voice complaints and warnings to him, but he refuses to listen to me.

Max quickly hops out of the car and strides up to the house. He slams open the door and i rush after him. He is going to get himself thrown off the football team if he doesn't stop right now.

"Bryson! Get your sorry excuse for a face down here right now!" Max yells and Bryson walks down the stairs and stares at all of us in complete shock.

"Aya..." He begins, but Max shoves him onto his butt.

"Did i say you could talk to her?"Max shouts and Bryson scowls at him.

"I don't have to listen to you," Bryson snaps and Max grins evilly.

"Don't push your luck. I hate you enough already," Max warns and Bryson looks like he is about to punch Max, but Max beats him to it. He pulls back and slams his fist, hard, into Bryson's face.

Bryson's head snaps back and blood squirts out of his nose. Bryson stands up and strikes back at Max.

Pretty soon both guys are on the ground and wrestling. I hear grunts and groans, but neither of them stops. I throw a panicked looks at Maggie, but she shrugs hers shoulders at me.

"Guys...."I try to say, but they keep on going. "Guys, stop it, now!" I try again, but with the same result.

I suck in a breath and let out a high pitched scream that has both guys covering their ears and looking at me like i am crazy. I don't stop screaming until Bryson covers my mouth with his hand.

"What in the sam hell did you do that for?"Max asks.

"Because you two weren't listening to me," I reply and shove Bryson's hand away from me.

"We stopped now," Max says and i roll my eyes.

"Thanks for that, captain obvious. And first of all, you didn't need to come and fight him. I can fight my own battles," I explain and Max sighs in defeat.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up," Maggie replies and leads Max into the kitchen to help him.

I look at Bryson to see him staring at his feet.

"Let's go,"I reply and he glances up at me in surprise.

"What?"

"Lead me to the bathroom so i can help you clean up the blood all over your face,"I relpy and he leads me to the bathroom with a strange expression.

I grab a washcloth and get it wet. I make him sit down on the counter while i gently wipe away the blood.

All the time i am helping him, i can feel him staring at me.

Don't look at him.

Don't look at him.

Don't look at him.

Don't look at him.

I look at him.

Hiw brown eyes clash with mine and i can see that he feels sad. I just don't know why. There is no way he actually cared for me.

"What?" I ask him.

"I never ment to hurt you," he whispers and i fight the urge to yell at him.

"Then why did you do it in the first place if you didn't want to hurt me?" I ask him calmly and he sighs.

"I don't know why i did it. Ok, yeah, i was jealous that you had so much talent, and i was deffinetly worried about my spot, so maybe in the beginning I wanted you to hurt, but that stopped after i realized that i actually liked you. When i realized that, i wished i had never done that. I wished i had never started it in the first place. And after we got together..." He begins to explain, but i shake my head and feel the tears again.

"No! I don't want to hear any more lies from you," I say and choke back my tears.

"Aya, i'm not lying to you," he says desperatly.

"It's Ayanna to you, and i told you i didn't want to hear it anymore," I snap and walk out of the bathroom. I hear him calling my name and coming after me, but i rush out to Max's car and hop in. I lock the door and Bryson stands outside the car with a hurt expression on his face.

I feel horrible when i see his expression, but i quickly look away and squish that feeling. He has no right to be hurt or angry. He hurt me, not that other way around.

I see Max come outside without Maggie and he hops into the car when i unlock it. He starts the car and pulls out of the drive way.

"Where's Maggie?"I ask him quietly.

"Staying home. She said she was going to talk to Bryson," he explains and i shake my head.

"Why won't you guys just let it go?"I snap and Max scowls at me.

"We're your friends, Aya. We are trying to help you," he says.

"I don't need your help," I say.

"I know you don't, AYa. I know you can take care of yourself and so does Maggie, but we are helping you anyway because that's what friends do for each other," Max explains and i feel ashamed for snapping at him.

"I'm sorry, it's just hard and it hurts," I reply and Max rubs my leg in a brotherly way.

"I know, and i'm sorry you had to go through this. I just wish i knew what do to help you," Max says and i look out the window.

"I don't think there's anything anybody can do. I just have to get over him by myself," I say sadly...

THIS WAS KIND OF HARD FOR ME TO WRITE BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD A BOYFRIEND BEFORE SO I HAVE NEVER GONE THROUGH THIS KIND OF PAIN OR HURT..... BUT MY BEST FRIEND RECENTLY JUST GOT BROKEN UP WITH AND I FELT LIKE REALLY GOING AFTER AND BEATING THE CRAP OUT HER EX. SO THAT'S HOW I KNEW WHAT MAX FELT LIKE WHEN HE GOT TOLD...

BUT ANYWHO.
