《The Nerd is a Stripper?!》Chapter 17

I wake up, and I see that I am facing the window wall. I sit up, and look out. I see the cabs, taking people to work. The assistants rushing to Starbucks, getting coffee for their bosses. The college students walking to class. It's peaceful.
I take my time getting up today. I pick out a white Mayday Parade band t- shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, white converses, a red flower crown, and my undergarmets.
I turn on my shower, and take a nice hot shower. I use my honey nut body scrub, with my coconut shampoo and conditioner. I get out and pat dry. I put on my undergarmets, pants, and socks. I leave my shirt of because it will just get wet.
I begin to blow dry my hair. Once it is done drying I see that it formed into their curls.
I put my shirt on, and cuff the sleeves before I put my flower crown on. Once my hair is complete I put on red lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner.
I put on my shoes, and walk outside. I see that Flora isn't up yet. Wouldn't blame her, today is the anniversary of her boyfriend's death.
That's a story for another time.
I decide to begin her day right. I make her her favorite dish, strawberry crepes with whipped cream, and some orange juice.
It doesn't take long to prepare, and once I am done I place it on a plater.
I walk in her room to see she is on her laptop, with her glasses on.
"Hey, good morning." I say with fake cheerfulness. She just gives me a look, and goes back on her laptop.
"I made you break fast." I state as I set it on her night stand. I look over and see pictures of Joshua.
"That's my favorite picture of you guys." I say as i sit next to her.
"Me too." She whispers.
Joshua had hazel eyes and dirty blond hair. He was shy, but once you got to know him, he was surprisingly cool.
In the picture, Joshua is kissing Flora's cheek, and has his arms wrapped around her stomach. Flora is eating an ice cream cone, and winking at the camera.
"I miss him so much." She whispers, and her voice cracks just before she starts sobbing.
I push her laptop aside, and pull her into a hug. My heart goes out for her, she is like a sister to me, and Josh made her so happy.
I just hold her in my arms, as she crys.
It takes a few minutes before she stops. She sits up, takes off her glasses, and wipes her tears off.
"My poor baby." I say as I pinch her cheeks. I see her smile, and I smile back in return.
"Come on, time to eat." I order as i grab her plate.
"Did you eat?" She asks.
"No I will probably stop by Starbucks." I wave her off.
"No you won't share with me." She offers.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yes of course." She says as she splits the crepe in half.
I eat my half while she eats hers. I look around in her room, and see her decorations.

"Thank you Ava." She says after she finishes eating her food.
"Yeah it wasn't that hard to make-" I am cut short.
"No, I mean for everything, I know you didn't know Joshua very long, but I know he still affected your life, and seeing you so strong helped." She states honestly.
"It was no problem, I mean you were there for me, it is only fair, and plus I wasn't there for your parents death and that year, I wasn't going to let you do that again." I say.
"Thank you." She says as she hugs me.
"Anytime darling." I state as I pat her back. "Thank you for not wearing make up it would have ruined my shirt."
She laughs as she releases me. "No problem, now shoo and go to school. Stay away from Jake."
"Don't worry I plan to." I mutter as I leave her room.
***
I walk onto school campus, and I am instantly greeted by a stressed out Zach.
"I need your help." He says.
"Well hello to you too." I greet with a small chuckle.
"I am serious." He states while frowning a little bit
Oh he wasn't kidding
"Oh, I am sorry," I apologize, "What do you need?"
"Something is wrong with Jake, he isn't answering my calls." Zach informs me.
"Oh it's with Jake?" I ask even though I already know.
"Yeah, why?" Zach asks his eyebrows drawn together with confusion.
"I am not happy with him to say the least." I spit out.
"Why, what did he do." Zach asks putting his hands on my shoulders.
"He-" I begin, but realize I can't actually tell him, "Nevermind, we'll work it out."
"Are you sure?" He asks, for what seem to be the tenth time.
"Yes." No
"Okay." He says before he departs into the school building.
***
I walk into my first period class, and see Alex in the seat next to mine.
Since when was he in my class?
"Hey," I greet a worried Alex.
"Have you talked to Jake lately?" He asks right away.
"What is with everyone skipping formalities today? But to answer your question, no I haven't talked to him." I answer truthfully.
"Can you do me a favor please?" Alex asks, and by the look on his face, I know I won't be able to get out of this one.
"Ugh, fine what." I groan as I open my bag.
"After school can you go visit Jake." Before I can decline, he interuppts me, "Please, Zach and I are busy after school, and you already know where he lives, it would be easier if you went."
I take a minute to consider.
"No." I answer just as the bell rings.
***
"Why are Alex and Zach telling me to ask you to reconsider?" Becca tells me during lunch.
"Wait, what?" I ask in confusion.
"Yeah they were asking me too." Shaun says.
You have to be kidding me.
I walk up, and go to where they are sitting.

"You asked my friends to talk to me?!" I asked incredulously.
"What did you expect, we're desperate!" Zach says while standing up along with Alex.
"You didn't need to go to my friends." I state, turning my lips down into a small frown.
"You said no!" Alex shouts.
"Yeah, well that's what you say, when the answer is not yes!" I yell back.
At that last outburst, people begin to glance our way. Zach forces Alex to sit down, and then looks at me.
"Okay look, Jake is like a brother to us, he has done some things that you don't need to know yet. But I have seen the way he looks at you," he says with a grimace, "He might listen to you. He likes you, a lot by the looks of it."
The cafeteria gasps with surprise. I look around and see pretty much the entire cafeteria is looking at us. My eyes land on Heather, she looks pissed.
I roll my eyes before I shout, "Get on with your lives!" It is silent for a second before the chatter resumes.
"Look, we aren't asking you to stay there and babysit him. We just want you to stop by, and make sure he is alive. Please." Zach pleads, his eyes showing how much he truly cared.
"Fine." I spit out.
**
Why are you doing this?
That's the only thing that runs through my mind, as I walk up the steps to Jake's house.
Throughout the entire day Alex and Zach have non-stop been bugging me about Jake.
Normally, I wouldn't care after what he did, but his friends were worried about him.
I don't know why they just can't do this themselves.
After an internal battle, I finally knock on the door. From one little push the door opens.
I walk through to see a shattered house, everything is wrecked. My eyes widen as I take in the carnage. The couch is flipped, and glass shattered. Marble cracked on a slanted table. A massive hole in the wall, almost the size of a small bowl.
I keep walking through, and navigate myself through the mess. I finally reach Jake's bedroom door.
With the door closed, I can already hear the music pounding. I open the door, and see his room is just as bad, maybe even worse.
His window wall is gone. His bookshelf, no longer holds books, but cracked shelfs, and books all in front of it.
I see Jake.
He looks terrible.
He is sitting on, what was once a cushioned bench, a completely wooden bench. His shirt is off and it reveals bruises. His hands are the worst. His knuckles are red, and with pecks of blood. His eyes have bags, it looks like he hasn't slept all weekend.
I walk over to his speaker, and turn it off. He looks over in slight alarm, but relaxs when he sees its me. I expected a relief look, but I get an ice cold expression.
"What are you doing here?" He asks with a cold dark voice.
"Checking up on you. Alex and Zach are worried about you." I explain while walking towards him. I reach him and grab his hand. He tenses and pulls away. I grab it again and grip tighter.
He glares at me, "Why do you care?" He asks while freeing his hand.
"Even if what you did was wrong, I still care about you." I say softly.
"What I did was wrong?!" He snaps, he stands up and scowls at me.
"I wasn't the one, that made me late for my job, something I actually love to do!" I snap back, raising my voice.
"You know I went after you once you left the diner. You made me feel like I was a child, making me think about what I did wrong. I ran into Flora, and she told me to stay away from you, I was just about to head over to your place when Alex calls me. Saying that he slept with Tracy. How could you?"
I am just about to cut in when he says the thing I thought I would never hear, "And you know what the worst part is?" He says, his eyes filled with pain. His voice cracks, "I am still in love with you."
I don't say anything, I am left speechless. He's still in what with me?
"What are you even talking about?!" I shout finally getting my speech back. "I am a virgin!" I yell, "I never slept with anyone! No guy has ever stuck their thing into my cookie!"
"What?" He asks in confusion.
"You know what, nevermind I am out of here. Until you get your facts straight, don't come anywhere near me."
I storm out the house, passsing all the wreckage, and climb into my car.
Then, I start to cry.
It takes a few minutes before I stop sobbing.
I wipe my eyes, and fix my make up.
Really Ava...
After I am done, start to drive. I get to the bottom of the hill, and I am at a signal waiting for it to turn green.
He isn't worth it
But the thing is, he is worth it.
With that thought I tear up, and a sob racks my body. I look up through the tears and see a green light.
I drive up, but I don't even cross because half way through there is a crash.
My body slams against the door and my head whipped into the window. I feel shards of glass entangle themselves into my hair. The airbag activates, slamming my head back againist my headrest.
My car is finally still, and I hear the car hiss. Metal had buckled and crunched into itself and the smell if burnt rubber permutated the air.
Wake up
I shout at myself, but there is no point.
I hear the sirens faintly in the background, as I let the darkness consume me. I think of Jake. I think of him, and his conflicted face earlier. I think of all the great times we had. I think of when he said he loved me.
I love you too
And soon, the world faded into darkness.
