《This Can't Be The End》Chapter 28

I wake up, and roll over to snuggle into Ryver's warm chest again, though I come empty, I frown and open my eyes.

I wasn't wrong, Ryver really isn't next to me.

Did he-

No, I stop my thoughts from the forbidding dark place, in my head that always gives me self-doubt.

He isn't him.

I know that, even if sometimes I wonder if it's all a dream, I know it's not, the relationship we have is real.

Last night, we had fallen asleep in each other's arms after spending the night cuddling watching movie after movie, until we were both in a comfortable slumber.

It was one of the best nights I've ever had.

When I get out of bed, the smell of something burned fills my senses.

What the hell?

I rush down the stairs, in a worried frenzy, only to be greeted with Ryver standing in the kitchen holding a pan that has white smoke coming out of it, with the faucet in the kitchen sink on, as he attempts to stop to assume what is a fire.

"I'm sorry," Ryver says when he sees me, holding a sheepish smile.

"You're sorry?" I laugh, going over to him, and placing a kiss on his cheek. "What did you do?"

"Uh well, I tried to make you breakfast, and well..." He laughs an embarrassed laugh, pointing to the pan that is now in the sink. "I kinda burned it."

"Kinda?" I smile, nudging him in the ribs lightly.

"Ok, fully." He laughs and pulls me closer to him by my waist, I instantly wrap my arms around his neck.

"It's okay, we can have cereal or toast," I say, giving him a small peck on the lips. "Thank you for trying though, but you really didn't have to."

"I'll get it right next time."

My stomach flutters, at next time. I'm relieved he still is looking for a next time.

Things got heated quickly, and we kissed for a good five minutes, before we ended up making two bowls of cereal and eating them on the kitchen stools.

"You don't have to say yes, but would you like to come with me to Dan's party on Friday?" He asks, Dan is a guy on the football team too, and truthfully I don't think I've spoken two words to him since I started dating Ryver, though I know he is close to a few guys on the football team, I'm guessing he's one of them.

"Um..." I stutter nervously fidgeting with my hands, despite all the parties I have never gone to. I haven't ever gone to a high school party, ever.

"You don-"

"No, I want to," I say, stopping him. "It's just I don't think I have ever gone to a high school party, is all."

I can see the surprise on his face. He tries to hide it.

"Can I ask something?" He says looking at me, I nod worried about what the question might be. "You don't have to answer, but how did you start going to college parties?"

"I was bored and alone, and wanted to be someone else for a night." I shrug like it's nothing, but it wasn't, it was far from nothing.

I had no friends, and heard there was a College party not too far away, and thought fuck it, and went said a few lies and had a good time, being someone else. "I gave a fake name to anyone that asked, and I guess it was just fun being someone else."

He nods, accepting my answer. "Okay."

I'm glad he doesn't ponder more on the topic.

*~*~*~*~*

I end up convincing Ryver to go Dean and Collin's place with me. When we're in the elevator, I decide to tell him what to expect.

"Ryver?" I say looking over at him.

He pulls me to him, wrapping his arm around my shoulder, and kisses the side of my head.

"Yes?"

"Remember how I told what to expect when we went to Jake's?" I ask. He nods, just as the elevator dings indicating we arrived at our floor, we exit and he stays standing waiting for what I have to say. "Okay well expect ten times crazier."

"How so?" He asks as I lead him to the apartment.

"Well, It's Dean, sometimes he can go overboard."

"I'm aware." Ryver tells me then squeezes my shoulder gently, "relax, it'll be fine."

I nod knowing he's right, but still apprehensive that he doesn't like my friends, well other than his brother, their relationship is still confusing to me.

I enter the apartment without knocking as usual, and Ryver follows close behind me.

I'm not fazed that there are voices shouting, I'm guessing the boys haven't noticed us.

"It's just a small fire," I hear Dean's voice that seems to be coming from his bedroom.

I gesture for Ryver to stay quiet wandering where this argument is going to go

"A small fire!" Collin shouts, "Ens will be here any second you sick fucker."

"So?"

"Ryvers with her." I hear Collins' voice.

"Oh no, he's going to think we're sickos."

I bite my lip to keep from laughing.

"No, he'll think you're a sicko!" Collin yells, "Not me!"

"Yeah well," Dean's voice gets a bit louder as the two boys emerge out of the room together. "I'm not the-"

He doesn't finish what he says when he sees me and Ryver standing there.

"Hi!" He says.

"I tried," Collin says with a slight smirk, he's probably referring to keeping Dean from doing anything stupid, I bet he did. "Nice to see you again Ryver."

I appreciate Collin for attempting to be civil.

"You to Collin," Ryver says, seeming slightly uncomfortable.

"So what did Dean do this time?" I say with a small smile, he can't go a week without causing trouble?

"It was an accident!" Dean says.

"So what was the accident?" I ask, Dean doesn't answer, though Collin, a great friend he is, answers for him.

"He tried to make eggs but ended up dropping his answer sheet for the quiz he had on the stove."

"See accident!" Dean chooses to chip in. "Ya see studying does no good!"

I want to ask how it happened but knowing Dean, he probably really did drop a piece of paper on the stove.

The atmosphere in the room slowly becomes less awkward, as Collin and Ryver start to play a video game I don't know the name of.

I honestly have no knowledge of video games, and I don't plan on it, this might because I suck at all of them, but you know maybe that's why they are all dumb.

Dean on the other hand is perched on the recliner, texting his younger brother, who seems to need advice on something, despite his carefree attitude, and that he looks like a child at times.

He is someone you can always count on being there. Like now, when his brother needs his help, the constraints on his phone, and solely his phone.

"So you convinced Ens to go to a party?" Collin asks as he steps up to set another disk in his PS4.

"Yeah, it's my friend Dan Mcallen, he's with me on the football team." Ryver answers politely.

Dean's head shoots up from his phone, almost instantly, "He has a brother right?"

"Yeah, I think he mentioned that once." Ryver answers back with hesitation, Dean nods and gives me a look.

What the hell?

I don't question it, trusting that if Dean needs to say something to me he will.

Instead, I grab my phone and begin to play my own game.

"Ens, you mind if I talk to you, for a sec?" Dean asks, standing up.

I look over to Ryver, and he just gives me a nod.

So I follow behind Dean as he walks to the kitchen.

Something's up.

"It's not my business, but Ensleey don't go to that party," Dean says in his serious voice, that I don't see very often.

"Why?" I ask, trying to understand where Dean is coming from.

"Well uh..."

"Spit it out c'mon," I told him, after a long pause, that would seem to go if I don't break it myself.

"I think he-he's David's brother," he says, and my entire body freezes.

"Whic-"

"How many Davids do you know?"

Well shit.
