《ginger & brunette {an Elmax ff}》Chapter 20 - The End
Advertisement
Almost a week passes:
Max got accepted by her mother, who divorced Neil (who didn't accept Max btw). Billy got to go to court, to discuss what will happen with him.
Eleven visits Max everyday (because Joyce won't let her sleep at the hospital), but she won't have to do that anymore, because by today's morning Max will go (almost) fully recovered home.
Susan (and Max) had to move out and the Hopper's offered to let them stay at their place, while the Mayfield's search for a new home.
It's now 7.48 in the morning of Max's last day at the hospital.
Excited I walk with Joyce and Ms. Mayfield through the entrance of the hospital.
We quickly greet the receptionist woman and go to the elevator.
We open the door quietly and step in. Max is still sleeping.
"Time to wake up, hunny", Ms. Mayfield says to her -now waking up- daughter.
"Morning...", Max mumbles sleepy and her mum gives her a kiss on the forehead.
I would like to do that too. But me and Max didn't talk about our 'thing' yet, neither have we kissed. Just cuddles and hand holding.
I really hope Max still likes me, because I still really like her.
Max rubs her eyes and sits straight up in her bed as me, Joyce and Ms Mayfield watch her. "Hi El!", Max smiles and stands up to hug me.
"Hi Max", I say and smile.
"Okay honey. We'll pack your stuff while you go to the last doctor's appointment. How does it sound?", Mom offers.
"Yeah fine", I answer, even though I don't like people doing my stuff for me, but I know the consequences if I'd say no.
So I quickly dress up, and make my way to the doctor's. But as soon as I want to close the door, El appears in between.

"What is it?", I ask.
"Can I ... come with you?"
"Sure", I smile.
So we walk beside eachother, not sure how to act.
I want to hold El's hand, but I'm not sure what we are at the moment, so I'd rather not hold hands.
I mean... we do still like us, right..? Right...?
[Timeskip]
There is the Hopper house already. We're sitting in Joyce's car with my stuff.
At the doc's appointment I finally got my nose bandage off.
Joyce parks the car.
We open the doors.
Me and Eleven get my stuff and storm off to El's room.
We giggle a lot while sorting my things in a small pile.
As we're finished, we decide to go outside, to walk around the near by forest.
So that's what we're doing.
We casually walk through the leaf mess, which is still a bit wet from the morning rain.
The smell of the forest smells good. Real good.
We walk along for about twenty minutes, not saying much.
"Max?"
"Yes?"
"Remember that time with... Billy and the accident?"
"Yeah?"
We stop walking.
"You said something about me.. before you know... well you talked about your feelings. For me."
Shit... she will tell me that she doesn't feel the same. No no no... I don't think I can hear it...
"Uh yeah, but uh well uh.. this case is for eh... for anoth-"
"I love you too."
Everything freezes around me, just Eleven doesn't.
Eleven loves me?
I can not think any longer about it, because I feel El's lips on mine. I automatically kiss back.
Eleven's body is very warm, but her lips are as cold as ice.
I cup her face and we're still kissing. I start to stroke her cheeks with my thumbs and her face gets more warmer.

The kiss is long and very intense. We slightly pull away, we still stay very close and look deeply into eachother's eyes.
My whole body is full with sparkles.
My stomach feels like a glitter bomb.
I never want to feel this feeling with anybody else than with Max.
I love Max.
And I told her that. And I really don't regret it.
Max eyes are turning my cheeks deep dark pink.
Max breaks the eye contact and takes a step back.
Huh?
"Eleven?"
"Max?"
"Uh.. I have an important question to ask you."
"What is it?"
Max clears her throat, picks the same, blue colored flower from the sunset-evening out of her pocket and gets down on one knee.
"Eleven Hopper, will you be my girlfriend?"
I surprised her, now she surprises me back. It feels like my glitter-bomb-stomach is exploding now.
She asks if I want to be her girlfriend? Mike never asked.
But I can't even do or say anything else than:
"Yes, more than anything in the world."
Max smiles wide, gets up and puts the flower behind my ear.
She plays with my hair and kisses me softly.
After a while of this, she pulls me into a hug.
My hands are crossing her back and my head rests on Max's chest.
"Finally", Max whispers in my ear, as she still plays with my hair.
Gosh I love this moment.
Who thought, that this ginger haired girl gives me so much happiness?
I don't ever want to let go of her and I don't give a fuck about what people think of us, like Max would say.
I mean, we're Eleven and Max.
We're ginger & brunette.

The Court of Souls?
What do we talk about tonight?~“How about a story?”~Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one.~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~Was it strong then?~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it?~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~So he became a hero and changed the world?~»…”~Tell me.~“Nooo, that’s not how the story goes. This isn’t a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was… kinder than the rest.”~A kind demon? How boring.~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~So tell the story!

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory
