《Three Wishes [TinCan]》Chapter 9: Final Wish

Can was woken up by the smell of something burning. He opened his eyes and turned to tell Tin that his house were burning. He frowned when he realized that Tin was not in the room.
He climbed down the bed and made his way out of the room. He located the source of burning smell which originated from the kitchen. He enter the kitchen and saw Tin busy battling with a pan on the stove, spatula on his hand.
"Arghhh why is this happening? Oh no, it burned again!" Tin's frantic voice filled the kitchen.
"Ai'Tin, what happened here?" Can asked.
Tin turned around to face Tin. He was sweating a bit on the forehead, causing his bangs to stuck on his face and there was batter on his face.
"Oh Ai'Can, you are awake. I am making breakfast."
Can came closer to see what Tin was cooking. The pancake was basically turned into charcoal.
Tin winced.
"I'm not used to cooking. I tried to toast some bread earlier." Tin said, nodding to a stack of burnt bread.
"How is it possible to burn them when you are using a toaster?" Can gawked at Tin.
Tin shrugged.
Can sighed and scratched his head.
"I cannot cook too but I think soft-boiled eggs are impossible to screw up, na?"
Can took the reign and started to make some soft-boiled eggs. He examined the toaster and found up the settings was way to high. He adjusted the toaster and began to toast some breads.
"Can you make some coffee, Tin?"
Tin nodded and set to do the task. He turn on the coffee machine and cleaned up the mess he made before.
Can was in front of the fridge to get some butter when Tin came behind him and stretched his arm to store the milk. Can's stomach suddenly become home for thousands of butterflies, flapping their wings wildly. Tin moved away after putting milk but Can stood there frozen, heart racing like crazy.
"Are you okay, Can? You're in front of fridge for a long time." Tin asked.
"Umm yes. I'm quite hot. I'm standing here to cool myself." Can flustered and started to move again.
They had their breakfast together and Can went home after that.
-----
Something is wrong with Tin.
Can barely saw his friend these day. It's been almost a week since he last talked to Tin and that was when he hung out at the guy's house.
He whipped out his phone at began to text Tin.
He waited for Tin to reply but it seems there were no response from the other boy. Can sent more text messages but this time to Pete instead of Tin.

Can did not wait for Pete's reply, he packed his bag and made his way to the library.
-----
It's not hard to spot Tin at the library, the guy was sitting at the study desk near the bookshelves.
Can pulled out a chair and sat next to Tin. That grabbed Tin's attention and he looked up.
"Hi Ai'Tin." Can said.
"Hi."
"Are you okay? I haven't seen you in a while."
Tin just nodded, not adding anything.
"Are you avoiding me? Did I do something that make you mad?" Can asked.
"It's not you, Ai'Can."
"Then, what it is? You can tell me anything, you know."
Tin just looked at Can as if judging whether he can trust Tin or not.
"It's my brother." Tin finally spoke up.
"What did your asshole brother do?"
"He saw you leaving that day. He said a few things about you."
"What did he say?" Can asked.
"He said that you don't actually want to be my friend. That you just going after my money and you will get rid of me when you're bored of me." Tin said, his voice began to crack in the end of his sentence.
"That's not true, Tin. You know that. I considered you as my good friend now. If I'm not serious in being your friend, I would not put up with your grumpiness all the time." Can said.
Tin gave a sad smile.
"I'm quite handful, aren't I?" Tin asked.
"Well yeah but I wouldn't have you any other way. So, don't be sad, na. Just forget about your brother and let's go have some coconut ice-cream"
Tin chuckled and nodded at Can.
-----
Later that night, Can was lying on his bed waiting for sleep to come.
He was thinking about Tin.
"Why I always feel weird when he's with me? My heart beats fast and my stomach feels funny when he's near."
He wracked his brain, trying to think about it. At last, he gave up and Google his symptoms. His eyes grew wider when he saw what the search results suggested.
"What the hell? Why these pages said that I'm in love?"
He opened a few websites and read.
"I'm in love with Tin." Can tried to say it out loud. As soon as he said it, his mouth involuntarily let out a smile and his heart practically playing jump rope in his chest.
"No..no...NO! I'm not in love with him." Can tried to deny it.
His phone suddenly chirped, a text message is waiting in his inbox.

He opened it and saw it was from Tin, wishing him good night. That made Can so giddy and happy.
"Oh no, I really love him. Arghhh!" Can screamed in frustration, his body thrashing on the bed.
"Oi P'Can! Be quite. I need to study!" his sister, Ley, said.
He froze when he heard Ley and once his sister had quiet down, he released his breath that he didn't realized that he's holding.
His thought once again wandered about the tall IC guy. How he was not usually let anyone into his life and how he was living in such a dysfunctional family.
Can sighed and closed his eyes. Before he settled to go to sleep, he said
"I wish for Tin to be happy."
-----
Can's eyes fluttered open. He cannot remembered when was the last time he got such a good night sleep. He moved a bit and he realized that his pillow was warm and firm. He took a look at his surrounding.
This is not my room, Can's mind supplied. He should be alarmed but he was too comfortable to even freak out.
He felt his pillow softly raising up and down, the movements were similar to breathing.
Why my pillow is breathing?
He looked up and found out that his pillow was Tin's chest. His brain halted for a while before racing with thoughts. He jolted up into sitting position, causing the bedsheets to pool around his waist. He began to scan his surrounding.
Wait, this is not my bedroom. This is Tin's bedroom.
Why am I here? I remember going to sleep at my own bed last night.
Can kept thinking about the wish he made last night.
Is this because of the wish? But it doesn't make sense why am I here.
Can was lost in his confusion that he didn't realized that Tin's eyes fluttered open.
"Can, what are you doing here? How do you get into my house?" Tin asked with a husky, sleep-laced voice.
God, that is so sexy.
Can shook his head lightly, chasing his thoughts away. He looked at Tin, no fear or anger on his friend's face, just curiosity.
"I don't know. I woke up and I'm here."
They looked at each other, eyes to eyes until Can can't take it anymore and broke eye contact.
"Umm, I wished for something last night." Can said.
"Oh, you used your final wish. What do you wish for? Is it unlimited pork skewers?" Tin teased him.
Can smacked Tin on his arm for that.
"No, you idiot. I wished for you to always be happy." Can said while ducking his head, suddenly feeling shy.
He heard the sheets rustled as Tin moved. Two bare arms suddenly snaked around Can's waist. Their warmth made him felt safe.
"I think I know why you are here, Ai' Can."Tin said softly.
Can looked at Tin with a questioning look. Tin half buried his face on Can's left-side waist, eyes closed and smiling contently.
"You are the thing that makes me happy, Ai'Can." Tin continued. He opened his eyes to look at Can.
A slow, shy smile started to bloom on Can's face.
"I am?"
Tin get up from his position and give Can's cheek a soft peck.
"I'm the happiest when I'm with you, Can. I really like you, more than a friend."
"I like you too." Can said quietly.
"What do you say? I can't hear you." Tin said.
"You asshole! I know you heard me." Can said and put Tin's head in a headlock.
They wrestled playfully until they were exhausted. Can called his mother to let know where he was and now he was sleeping peacefully, Tin's arm around him.
Tin just watched Can asleep. He can't believed that Can used his last wish for him.
"Ai'Can, I promised from now on whatever you wish for, I will try my very best to grant it for you." Tin said.
Tin, a person who was has his heart protected by thick wall, blocking anyone who want to enter into his life, not because he seen other people as inferior but out of fear of being hurt and betrayed had found a person who he can finally trust.
Can, a guy with one final wish to spare, with his excessively loud actions and straight-forward thinking, people would assumed he will used his wish for himself. But he found a person that is so important for him that he didn't mind using his wish for.
Two souls completing each other, that's what they are.
Tin just watched Can sleeping until he himself drifted into sleep.
