《WE {TINCAN ff}》Through The Night

'I have to agree with whatever you have said either way.'

Tul sat in the huge living room of the Medthanan House with his father and mother. The weather was very eerily unusual as it would be filled with a young boys clatters with his small toy guns and cars. His parents and servants chasing him for fun, but it was since years that had happened.

The Living Room had witnessed broken marriages, grief separation between siblings. Happy children growing up fighting to become an heir. It had witnessed lavish parties among rich businessmen, with increasing salaries of the poor servants. Yet, the walls seemed new, but the mixed memories were buried deep.

It had witnessed two siblings' relationship being broken into minute pieces. It had witnessed the truth of the older, it had witnessed the unfair sadness among the children and the adults and the witness of an unexplained hatred.

There was a very tensed weather between the servants, the owner and the parent. Arrangements were done in the room with respect to the return of Tin, also the arrangements of departure unexplained.

The big table between the two sofas spilt them on a good note. Clean it was, and yet very filthy. The servants noticed the unusual change of weather among the superior people. Unlike the morning routine of the house assigned to them, this day was very strikingly unusual.

There wasn't any communication heard in the damp room even after the entry of the two men. The few people excused themselves upon the request of the elder master. Bowed and off they went.

It was a very bad morning for Tul as he heard his manservant knocking on the door and informing him that his father would like to see him quick. As he lazily did his routine through the wee hours of his morning knowing exactly for what his father wanted him.

They had talked about this very early, but Tul actually was counting on for a reason to deny it. But this time, he had no satisfactory reason. He walked trough the stairs looking into the huge, extraordinary house like it would be demolished, like he won't see it once more. Yet again it was, indeed. Since the false news broke out, not the house. But emotions were demolished.

When he had got in the living room watching his father waiting for him, he breathed out and inhaled searching for the invisible power his heart wanted to take up the decision. Trai blinked and pursed his lips and signaled him to settle on the sofa opposite of the latter.

Tul nodded as his black shoes clacked on the heavy carpet of the huge room, his shirt neatly folded till his elbows. And with significant pants he looked dashing for the unannounced meeting. Despite the grief he went through the previous night, he managed to look new and presentable the next day. He sat and closed his eyes for a second, looking back at the times when he was a happy, sporty teenager. Innocently playing football with his half brother. Uninformed about the family issues. Not until his innocence was ruined by a worst kidnapping planned by his own family. He recalled the time when he was desperate for revenge for his parents to not look upon him. He recalled the time when he gave his pure brother everything he'd ever wanted and then take it away in a swift. But now it was gone, long gone.

As Tul opened his eyes, his black pupils filled with the saddest griefs, he saw his step mother, Raasa entering the room with her hollowing dark circled eyes. She saw the eyes of the younger on her, she glanced and wobbled. She pursed her lips upon the stare, straightened her back with clear nervousness.

"Crying from the whole night," Tul thought. She walked leisurely and made herself secure beside Trai.

Within the last week, she was looking very old and drowsy than she had been the past years.

Her body had became very unnaturally thin, and all the light had gone from her eyes since the last few days. She didn't gave a thought to her clothing nor about her eating.

As Tul noticed, she was clearly in anxiety.

The two mens' eyes met and Trai and Tul nodded at one another in agreement, the oldest one grabbed a bright yellow file which was covering a few pages nicely and handled it to him to read and look upon.

When the latter flipped the cover, he read what he had predicted since long.

He would be shifted to Chiang Mai to take care of the business branches from there. And it was not a shock for him, for this was his fate. He knew that this day would come sooner or later. He didn't looked shocked nor a sense of tense on his eyebrows he showed. He was so much prepared for his fate. At last, karma shot back.

He licked his lips in anticipation as he read the file fully, sinking in the information. He reached the last page of the file and took out his pen, and made a slick sound. Hurriedly he signed the papers. No, he wasn't off from his post, his place was changed for good. From now, he would be the part of the Business Family and not the actual one. Heck, it wasn't even a family. The relations among them had been all acting since the past years. Ever since the underlying stupid problem had happened with Tin. No one was ever being considerate of one another. It felt like a game were puppets are made a part of family with no role whatsoever. Everything was forced but now with him gone, things would be a bit better as he thought.

He snapped out from his thoughts, slid down the file on the table and returned back to his posture. He crossed his finger on his right knee as it lay crossed on the other.

His eyes met his father's as he had said the above statement.

Trai took a pause, nodded, grinned upon that with pleasure. He smiled ruefully, recalling the night before.

'I really don't want to do this Tul, but I have no choice.'

He told this straight with no remorse. He had had it enough of suffering. He furrowed his brows beyond the clear specs he wore.

He held on the same file and gripped on it, hoping for a adequate response from his step-son. But Instead, the latter just smiled ruefully.

'I know..,'

Tul spoke and got up, fixing his shirt. He breathed and licked his lips in unnoticed sadness.

He brought his eyes to Raasa, waiting for a shout or whatever. But there wasn't a single sound from her, not even a fond glance at him she had had before.

His mother had her head held down all the time, and Tul clearly understood what it meant. He had disappointed her. He remembered the times she was so proud of him at uninvited parties. The times when she would take him and brag about him for Tin. The old times, when Tul

used to sit on her lap and be fed, made to listen short stories for his sleep. Everything was done.

His eyes filled with unexplained truth turned from her towards Trai, his right cheek jerked and he spoke,

'I shall made reservations quickly.'

And he got out without any words, not looking back. He black, guilty heart throbbed through his shirt loudly. He went through the meeting like a thief and returned as a scarred person. He deserved it. He totally did.

He kept his shoulders still as he walked towards his room. His tears on his Adam's apple gulped taking them back. He was at last separated for good.

With the silence in the mansion he realised that Phu was not at home and that was the only thing which made this cruel meeting swift with ease and less words with no emotions. He had no idea how he would explain it to him that he failed as a family. He didn't had his wife by his side at the moment. She was taking care of her work out of Thailand leaving Phu in care for Tul. He also didn't knew how he would tell his wife that they won't be staying here anymore. With this his mouth gaped and his breath hitched, his heart ached and fell into his stomach. His back gave a jolt but he stood straight and walked.

The news of their departure would clearly break the little boy's heart, not once Tul had been considerate of his thoughts throughout whatever he had been doing wrong. But he had to remain strong for his son.

Raasa on the other hand, bit her lip on the division among the family. It was essential, she thought. Trai assured her that everything would be good and at its place. And she believed him on that.

'You're sure?'

'Absolutely..' Trai paused and glanced back at her grinning, 'I don't want any more problems for us, I've had had enough..'

He flipped through the other file which had included his younger son's internship, his wrinkly old hands grabbed the black slick pen from the pocket of his shirt and made a gratifying sound of signing at the end of the paper.

'When's Tin coming..?' Raasa asked her husband, her eyebrows very relaxed upon her tensed face. She wanted to do something to please her son, after all the years of suffering he had went through. She had thought all the time, that he was doing well all along. She anticipated that her son, Tin, didn't needed their help to stand up on his own. And he didn't, he just needed someone to be by his side. That's all.

'Tonight I assume.., I hope he comes very soon. I don't know how'll he react when he hears about his brother.' Trai finished his sentence disappointingly.

'Yes.., It must be very hard for him. O-only if, maybe I-'

And she burst into tears loudly on her guilt. She inhaled and sniffed swiftly. She grabbed her handkerchief very firm and sneezed into it.

She felt her husband's arm on her shoulder trying to calm her down, for she knew he was also in despair. Trai tapped his wife's back gently as she continued to cry in anguish.

'I-I'm s-such a terrible mother!' She cried into the thin cloth, 'I-I'm so much at f-fault!'

Trai got up to hand her a glass of water, she impel it off.

She continued to cry for a good half an hour while her husband took her into his solace. She sobbed into his chest as she began to breathe, slowly pacifying herself. Trai brought Raasa's shoulder above and kissed her forehead, hugged while stroking her head tenderly.

Her rough hair made contact with his equally uneven hands, which were once the softest to be held on to. Going back into time, she saw herself holding her husband's palm with immense trust and relief. She held onto the time when she had first met Tul, how much of a smart boy he was. How much he tried to impress her but failed miserably every time. She recalled the time when Tin was born and the endless times Tul tried to calm down his cries.

It was their both second marriage to one another. Raasa's husband had divorced her upon his affair and having an illegitimate child with his mistress. Of course she took it hard, she had loved him. It was her first love and which left her broken. She met Trai upon the request of her father, she refused savagely at first but gave in. Later when she had knew that Trai was suffering of the same fate, she in time married him out of guilt.

Despite their young age during the marriage, they made it out together. And that's what brought them closer. They hadn't planned on having children because having a smart boy as Tul was ample. Later unexpectedly after years, Tin was born.

They now sat old beside each other holding onto one's hand in absolute grief, consoling one another. Completing the promise of standing for each other during any distress. Holding onto to one's heart in desperation, for they both had failed. Sobbing into each other's solace after the long gruelling marathon.

Trai sniffed and whispered,

'It's okay honey, We'd make it up to him, hm?'

___________

'Tin..!'

Can shook Tin for a millionth time to wake him. It had been past fifteen minutes since they had reached Can's house.

It was the same house with a gloomy aura this time. It looked very fresh upon the welcome of the new individuals after a sufficient time of waiting. The weather was same and there wasn't much difference. Except for the fact that the sun was hotter than before. And March had just kicked in.

Looking back at the last night, throughout the ride, Tin and Can slept within half an hour just after they had started. Grandfather was awoke for a few hours and then later made himself comfortable and closed his eyes for a little rest.

Like an obedient driver, Man was awoke the whole night driving. His yawns if counted could've been thousands but still he stay awoke for himself, because:

a) He can't get into an accident.

b) The grandfather doesn't trusts him.

When they reached at Can's Home, Man gave a slight jerk being considerate to the old man. When the latter woke up, Man told him that they made it.

The old man stirred a bit in his sleep for a few minutes, while Man got out already talking to his fellow mate, Boss. They talked further that they succeeded and made a promise to go out on a drink in a few nights. Man's duty finished here and then, he did what had been asked from him. If needed they would ask more of him, and he would deliberately volunteer to help. That was his job after all.

The grandfather was the second one to get out and let Can and Tin sleep. When Can woke up, he founded himself before his home in a car sleeping silently.

'Hmh..' Tin stirred and turned, he hands folded and a little dab of saliva tricking down from the corner of his lips to his chin, 'What is it Can?'

'We're home! Get up it's almost eight!' Can jerked Tin vigorously. Tin snapped his eyes open and straightened his posture. He ruffled his hair and took out the small boogers formed at the corner of his eyes. He yawned, glancing and he grabbed Can's neck and met his lips' onto his.

'Mhm, Tin my mouth stinks..' Struggled Can to speak,

Tin let go rather fast this time, he smirked with his half sleepy eyes, 'I love you...'

Can blushed and smiled and kissed Tin back, 'You'd been wanting to do that to me while I was asleep, hm? Cantaloupe?'

'Hm..' Can hummed and blushed but not shyly, he let out a haughty smirk this time as he saw Tin smiling at him. 'Get out now.. We're home!'

Tin let out a very hearty laugh while ruffling Can's hair. He got off feeling lively than ever.

The street was usually warm like before as he stretched his arms afar yawning. Cracking his back he stood looking out at Can's house. The sunlight freshening him up as it made its way till his rosy cheeks. He didn't woke up once in the ride, he had been asleep all along. Perhaps he had been clinging to Can for him to not wake up. He had no idea when they had reached here, because he knew his Cantaloupe. He wouldn't want to ruin his sleep. There had been countless times when Can never woke him up from his slumber which caused him to be slightly late for his classes.

His attractive monolids squinted as he saw a small feminine figure by the huge door through the white, bright gate waving hard at him, it was Lay. A very tiny small beaming dog beside her was waving his tail smartly as he slipped between her legs and around.

He waved back smiling halfway, one of his hands in the pockets as Can stood beside him.

'Lay!~'

Can yelled as he ran pushing Tin behind. He gripped the gate and entered and instead of going for his sister, he let his dog, Gucci jump on him.

'I missed you so~ much Gucci!' Can said and he sat on the grassy ground as Gucci licked him on his face. Tin grinned at the view, he stumbled down and caressed Gucci's soft fur. Gucci licked Tin's hand after making it damp from his saliva.

Tin glanced above at Lay and got up to hug her. 'I missed you all.'

'Me too!' Lay hugged him back, 'Come inside now, you'll need to freshen up! Tell me what you did there!'

She jerked Tin hard and the latter nodded. He laughed at the small girl and rolled his eyes. When the four had entered, every one of them was showered with kisses by Mrs. Kirakorn.

'I missed you so much Tin! How are you!' She beamed as she went from Can to Tin. She smiled very hard upon looking at the fresh face of the latter. She had noticed that Tin had became healthy. Unlike before, he was very lanky and skinny.

Unlike before he looked more lively and fresh. She noticed the grown hair covering his eyes. She hugged him tight and caressed his hair.

'I'm fine. I missed you too..' Tin cracked his shining smile and dashed. He kissed her back and hugged her tight. It felt great to be into her solace. It felt like being home.

'Looks like mom fed you a lot! Haha! You've become more handsome!' She laughed and Tin nodded. He hadn't noticed that yet until Can pointed it out during their packing. He was still pretty skinny but unlike before, he looked very nice.

'Hey!' Can snickered at his mother. Prim passed through Tin's shoulder and hugged Can very tightly. His tiny frame was very much large compared to her. As Can hugged his mother, she started smelling the soft hair of his mother from the crook of her neck. He didn't let go until Prim patted his back tenderly.

'I missed you, Ma...'

'I miss you too, sweetie..' Prim kissed her son's forehead and turned to Tin.

'I've got loads to tell you..' Tin told as he hugged Prim again, she patted his back and let him go slowly. She kissed him one last time and brought him into the kitchen for breakfast.

Tin ever felt so loved for he realised that this was his family.
