Can - actually… I am more than just friends.
Teen - really? Are you his family?
Can looked down at Teen and laughed.
Can - what is your name? (Ignored Teen's question.)
Teen - my name is Teen.
Can - (raised an eyebrow up.) Oh really? So you the boy who helped my niece, Mia.
Teen was a little confused but then he remembered the girl named Mia.
Teen - Yes! (Eyes widen) she is your niece?
Can - (nodded and knelt down to Teen) She wants to see you and the other Mia very much but you see... she has to go back home. So I promised her that I will find you guys and face-time her. Are you okay with that?
Teen - (happy) oh okay. I want to see her too.
Can - do you want to face-time her now?
Teen - Yes!
Teen ran happily to the crowds of kids and grabbed hold of his little sister, Mia. He pulled her with him.

Tul and his daughter arrived back in Krung Thep. Mia was sitting in the living room, watching T.V.
Tul walked to his daughter handing her the phone.
Tul - Mia, guess who called?
Mia - (quickly turned to her dad happily.) Uncle Can?!
Tul nodded.
Mia - (grabbed the phone) thank you, father.
Tul smiled and went to the kitchen where his wife was making dinner.
Mia - (looked at the phone and saw Can was face-timing her) uncle Can, Hello!
Can - hi Mia, how are you?
Mia - I was waiting for your call, uncle Can.
Can - I made you a promise, right? I never go back on my words. (Lowered his phone) look who's here with me.

Can faced his phone to Teen and little Mia. Mia smiled brightly at them.
Teen - (waved) Hello Mia, how are you?
Mia 2 - Hi, big sister Mia! (jumping up and down)
Mia - hi Teen! Hi Mia! I'm sorry I didn't come and say goodbye.
Teen - it's alright. We are not mad.
Mia 2 - next time I will tell Big Brother to take us to you.
Mia - (nodded happily) really? You and Teen have to come for sure, okay? I'll be waiting!
Teen - (formed a sour smile and poked his sister.) Hey, don't just say stuff that comes out of your mouth.
Mia 2 - (looked at Teen) why? I wanna go to where big sister Mia lives.
Teen - but--
Mia - (frowned) why Teen? You don't want to come and see me?
Teen - (guilty chuckle) hehe… of course, I want to...but it's big brother's decision. He might say no.
Mia - oh… (looking sad.)
Teen - but don't worry! We will see each other for sure! (quickly add)
Mia - (nodded) okay…
After the kids say goodbye, Can held the phone to his face.
Mia - uncle Can, thank you.
Can - you're welcome.
Mia - (frowned again) I hope their big brother say yes so they can come and see me.
Can blinked his eyes. Ever since Tin left, Mia has been lonely and never really interact with kids her own age. Until now, she finally found the friends she likes. And the friends she likes were raised by Tin, her real uncle. Not so surprising at all.
Can - Mia…
Mia - hmm?
Can - I'll show you something but you have to promise me, you will keep it a secret, okay?
Mia - (sniffed) okay.
Can turned his phone to where Tin was at. He was still playing with the kids. One of the kids jumped onto Tin's back and Tin ran, piggybacking him while the other kids ran after.
Mia's eyes widen at the phone screen. She placed one hand to her mouth while her eyes twinkle with tears.
He's...her uncle.
Her uncle Tin.

The plans of the enemies of mankind to destroy human civilisation, to restore their own mastery of the world, are well on the way to success. Even while her country strives to avoid conquest and defeat at the hands of their traditional enemies the Carrowmen, therefore, Princess Ardria journeys to Carrow to meet with the enemy King in an almost hopeless attempt to persuade him of the truth. All her hopes rest on the assumption that he in an unwitting dupe of the true enemy, but lurking at the back of her mind is the fear that he may be all too aware of the truth, that he may have sold out humanity for the promise of personal power. If this is true, then all that awaits her at the end of her journey through fear and danger is imprisonment and the life of a hostage to be used against her father, King Leothan. The Brigadier would help her if he could, but he and Malone, his former batman, are far away, each having their own missions to try and ensure the survival of human civilisation. Having completed his latest task, the Brigadier must race to join her, to assist and protect her, but will he reach her before she arrives at the palace of the enemy King? And will the Princess still have a country to be Princess of by the time she arrives there? Because even if Helberion manages to defeat the all conquering armies of Carrow there is another, even deadlier threat waiting in the wings against which there may be no defence... This is volume three of the Ontogeny series. If you haven't read volume one, Ontogeny, and volume Two, The Electric Messiah, you should read them first.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
