you walked home with atsumu by your side, the cold breeze blowing past you making you shiver. christmas was around the corner, so it was colder at the streets of hyogo. you went and held atsumu's hand to seek some warmth, lacing your fingers with his.
"are you cold?" he asked, squeezing your hand.
"a bit. it got chilly all of a sudden." you replied. atsumu had the idea to take out the maroon jacket he had and wrapped it around you, providing yourself with more heat.
"thanks 'tsumu." you smiled at the boy, bringing the cloth closer to your body.
"no problem."
he brought you home a couple of minutes later before walking home himself. when he reached the front door of his house, he heard osamu talking with their mother.
"so yer tellin' me, 'tsumu has a girlfriend?!"
"...he hasn't told you?"
atsumu took a deep breath then sighed, knowing where this conversation will lead to once he entered the house. "i'm home..." he opens the door, meeting his twin and his mom standing near the entrance.
"well look who's back." his mom crossed her arms at her chest. "why didn'tcha tell me you had a girlfriend 'tsumu?!"
"because i knew you'd freak out like what yer doin' right now." he took his shoes off and shot a glare at osamu. the grey haired teen shrugged and walked away before atsumu could argue with him.
"well, since christmas is right around the corner." she places her hands on her hips. "why dont'cha invite her over?"
you were laying on your bed watching a show on that you recently found interesting while a comfy duvet was wrapped around you, preventing you from being cold. your phone buzzed on the bedside table, making you groan then rolled towards the other side of the bed. you reached out for it to check who messaged you.
Hey
Are you doing anything for Christmas?
you thought about what your plans were for christmas. your mom wasn't going to be home, and takeru just informed you that he was going to celebrate christmas with a friend of his. you were bummed out about it at first since you thought you had to spend christmas alone, so you were thankful atsumu actually messaged you about it.
not really
why?
Can i call you?
yeah sure
is calling
"hey princess." atsumu greets on the other line.
"hey, what's up?"
"okay so..." he started off. "my mom wants to meet you."
you felt your heart start to race. his mom, mother miya, actually wanted to meet you. you suddenly felt nervous, in panic as to what was in store for you. "r-really?"
"yeah. is it okay if you spend christmas with us? if you don't have plans, that is?" atsumu paced back and forth in his room, earning a confused look from osamu who was watching from the top bunk of their bed.
"that's fine with me." you said. "i was actually gonna spend christmas alone so i'm glad you asked."
"great, i'll pick you up then." he wanted to sigh in relief. "i'll talk to ya later."

"alright." you end the call, taking a deep breath before covering yourself up with the duvet completely. you didn't knoe how you should act in front of his parents, what if they didn't like you? what would happen to you guys? you panicked a bit, overthinking of things that might go wrong.
"calm down [Y/N], just be yourself. everything will be fine." you told yourself. you calmed down a bit, then proceeded to go back to watching the show you were so invested in earlier to distract yourself.
it was the 23rd of december. atsumu was currently out at the mall with osamu in hopes of finding a christmas present. they had already bought the presents they were going to give their parents and each other, so now atsumu was left to buy a present for you.
"you got any idea on what to give her?" osamu asked while carrying the bags he bought.
"no, not yet..." in truth, it had been days since atsumu was thinking of a gift to give you. nothimg still came to his mind unfortunately.
"well you better decide soon or i'm leavin' ya. i'll meet'cha at the parkin' lot." he nods at what his brother said before walking away from him.
atsumu started to think about what you'd like. sure, you told him all about your interests, but he just couldn't form something that you'd actually like in his head. he walked around, scanning the windows of the shops he passed by. he wanted his gift to be special, one that you'd appreciate and keep forever so he had to be careful in choosing.
a couple of minutes of searching, he passed by a shop that caught his eye. he never seemed to noticed this store before since it was located at the corner of the huge mall. it was a bit rundown, with its design color a bit faded. atsumu decided against it, but being so desperate he went in in the end.
the bell dinged above him when he entered, and was met by an old lady at the counter. she had her grey hair in a bun, whilst her hands were slightly shaking as she was crafting something at the table. "welcome, dear." the old woman greeted the boy.
"whaddya sell here?" atsumu walked towards the old lady to see what she was making. in her hand was a handmade pendant, and inside was a petal that was trapped in resin. it looked very pretty, with the color of the solid resin matching the petal that was inside.
"i make handmade things my dear." she set the pendant aside and fixed her attention on atsumu. "what did you need?"
"you trap petals in pendants?" he points at the resin she was making earlier.
"i can put anything as long as it fits inside the mold. petals in particular are very popular nowadays." she replied.
with that, atsumu thought of an idea. "i'll be back!" he shuffled out of the shop as the old lady waved goodbye to him.
"take care, boy!" she says before the door closed.

a couple of minutes later, atsumu came back with a flower on his hand. "can you make a necklace out of this?"
the old lady grabs the flower from him and stares at its magenta petals. "long lasting love and desire..." she mumbles, and smiles at atsumu. "you're a keeper."
the day has finally come and you are now standing in front of the miya household's doorstep. atsumu held your hand, providing you with assurance that he was going to be there with you.
"relax, they won't bite." he jokes, hoping to calm you down. you nod, telling him that you were ready. atsumu opens the door, and you were immediately greeted with a loud shout from the other room.
"osamu! where d'ya put the plates?! and why are there ornaments on the dinin' table!"
"mom..." atsumu sighs. he pulled you towards the room where all the shouting was coming from and saw two people there.
a woman who had short brown hair was holding a tray that was smoking, while a pink apron was tied around her petite waist. a middle aged man however was taking out some cutleries from the cabinet, he was wearing the same pattern of green sweater the lady had on. when they felt another presence in the room, they averted their attention to the both of you.
"mom, dad." atsumu started. "this is [Y/N]."
you gulped, giving them a small wave. "i-it's a pleasure to meet you both!" you bowed slightly.
"this..." the woman sets the tray she was holding aside and started to walk towards you. "...is yer girlfriend?"
the blonde nods. you started to feel nervous again, not liking the tone she gave you. god, does she not like me already?
"she's..." she suddenly gave you a wide smile. "she's so pretty!" she pushed atsumu aside and gave you a tight hug, which you gave back after a moment of confusion.
"m-mama miya- i mean, mrs. miya, thanks for having me!" you said as you hugged her.
"we're so happy to have you here dear!" she pulls away and cupped your face. "my look at you, what beautiful children the two of ya would have. and please, call me mom!"
you flushed at her statement along with atsumu, who crossed his arms at the side from being pushed away by his mother. "mom isn't that a bit-"
"calm down now honey don't scare the kid." the man joins in and walked towards his wife to settle her down.
"tsumu how d'ya manage to get such a pretty lady like her!" she exclaimed.
"well-"
"what's all the noise about?" an irritated looking osamu walks into the dining room. "oh, yer here." his features softened when he saw you.
"merry christmas osamu." you greeted.
"[Y/N] sit next to me as we eat. i have lots of stories to tell ya!" she pulls you with her, you going along with it since you didn't know what else to do.
"why do i feel like they like her more than they like us?" atsumu whispered to his twin as they sat down the dining table. osamu shrugged and sat beside his twin, who sat beside you.
the dinner went well. you got along with his parents really well, them telling you embarrassed stories of the twins as you ate. his mom promised you that she'd show you a photo album later, in which you agreed to since you'd see fetus atsumu in it. as much as the boy hated it, he really didn't have much of a choice.
"so, how did the two of you meet?" asked his mom.
you and atsumu almost choked on your food, not knowing what to reply to her. "well, uh..."
"she... we have a mutual friend that introduced us to each other." atsumu answered for you, making osamu snicker beside him. he shot a glare at his twin who knew he was lying.
"oh? and then what?" his mom was intrigued that's for sure. this was atsumu's first relationship she'd ever heard of, so she was indeed curious.
"and then..." atsumu didn't know what else to say, so you continued for him.
"a-and then we uh, got along really well." your sweat dropped, knowing what really happened was the exact opposite. meanwhile osamu was trying hard to contain his laughter.
after the meal, presents were given to each other. you gave his parents stuff they'd like thanks to atsumu's help, and gave osamu an onigiri sweater which he secretly appreciated even though he told you he hated it. atsumu still hasn't given you his present yet, even though you had already given his. [i'll leave it up to you to decide on what you gave him!]
his parents went back to the kitchen to tidy things up while osamu went their room again saying he didn't want to third wheel any longer. now, you were left with atsumu at the living room while drinking the hot chocolate his mother gave you.
"wait, stay there." he stood up and quickly grabbed the box he was hiding from under the tree. he sat next to you and handed you the velvet wrapped box.
"here, i hope you like it." he smiles. you took the box and unwrapped it, revealing a necklace that had a small pendant hanging from it. inside was a the smallest sakurasou flower you've ever seen, and it fit inside the small pendant.
"this is..." you took the necklace out of the box and stared at it. "this is very beautiful atsumu." you smiled, admiring the magenta glow it had. "put it on for me?"
he nods, making you turn around from him. he placed a small peck on your neck before wrapping the necklace around you. "d'ya like it?"
you faced him again and leaned towards the boy, giving him a quick kiss before pulling away. "i love it. thank you atsumu."
you read about the languge of this flower a while back, so it made you really happy that atsumu chose this certain flower. you knew he chose it specifically because of the meaning which made your heart flutter. certainly, it was a christmas you'd never forget.

“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
