"babe..."
"yes?"
"notice me."
"i am noticing you 'tsumu."
"no yer not." he pouts, pushing the book away from your face. "yer more interested in that book than you are with me."
you chuckled at his kid like pout, placing your book down the bedside table and lacing your arms around his neck. "you just want to cuddle don't you?"
"maybe..." he buries his head on your chest, letting your scent calming him down. "i haven't seen my girlfriend in days, you can't blame me..."
it was sunday, the very same day atsumu came back from his training camp. he came straight to your house as soon as he came back, which was why he was inside your room right now.
"i'm sorry." you pecked his head, smiling. "this better?"
"i know something that's much better." he lifted his head and stared at you. you noticed his eyes trailing down your lips, smirking as he did so. "wanna know what it is?"
you already knew what he was going to do judging by how he looked at you, but you still tested the boy out. "enlighten me."
he leans towards you, his arms supporting him as he stayed on top of you. he connected his lips with yours, your hands finding its way to cup his face. he deepens the kiss, sending butterflies down your stomach. atsumu started to continue his kisses by trailing it down your jawline, making his way to your neck.
"w-wait atsumu–"
"yes princess?" he whispers, his hot breath hitting your ear. "this is me enlightenin' you, what's wrong?"
"nothing... but..." he started to kiss your neck, nibbling parts of your skin which caused you to let out a whimper. you felt him sucking a part of it, making you push him back. "a-atsumu! you did not just–" your face flushed at the realization.
suddenly, someone started to knock on your door. "[Y/N]-chan! i've brought [F/F] from miyagi!"
"shit." you and atsumu cursed in unison.
"is that–"
"yep. that's him." you gulped, fixing your clothes and hair before getting out of the bed. "stay there." you told atsumu.
when you've successfully tidied your top, you slowly opened the door and peeked your head out. "h-hey there tooru! wasn't excepting you to visit..."
"nee-san called me and told me she came home. of course, being the darling brother that i am, i–" oikawa paused his rambling when he spotted something on your neck. "are you okay?"
"yeah, why wouldn't i be?"
"you've got a bruise on your neck, or did a bug bite it?"
your eyes widened, instantly covering it before he could realize what it was. "i-i think i got bitten by a huge bug earlier, yeah."
"why aren't you opening the door?" he rose his brow as he pouted. "i even bought these [F/F] so we can eat!"
"we can eat it at the kitchen!" you smiled, hoping he would listen to you. "i need to change though, i'll be right there."
"fine. hurry up though, we don't want takeru hogging all of these." oikawa turns around and started to walk away from your door.
"i heard that tooru!" you heard takeru scream from afar.
you sighed in relief once your uncle was away and closed the door shut. you walked towards atsumu and said, "go out the window."
"the window?!"
"it's better than him seeing you here! he'll just cause a scene." you leaned towards the blonde, giving him one last peck on the lips. "i'll call you later."
"alright alright." he frowns. "i love you..."
"i love you too." you smiled. "now hurry before he catches you." the boy scurries off and exits from your window. since your room was on the second floor, atsumu would unfortunately have a rough time landing down. thankfully though the fall was not that high, and since he was a pretty tall guy you figured he'd have no difficulty going down.
once atsumu left, you went to the bathroom and grabbed some make up to cover the mess atsumu made. "why would he leave one where it's most visible..." you muttered annoyingly.
when you were done covering it up, you finally went down to the kitchen where oikawa and your mom was.
"[Y/N]-chan what took you so long?" oikawa furrows his brows. you sat beside him as you prepared the food he brought with him.
"i uh, had to do something." you lied.
"honey, where's atsumu?" your mom asked. you wanted to let the ground swallow you whole. you forgot that your mom saw atsumu enter the house earlier, greeting him too before he went to your room.
"atsumu?" oikawa immediately shot you a questioning look. "he's here?!"
"tooru–"
"wait, so that bite..." he looks at your neck and saw that the mark was gone. "you hid it... which means..." his eyes widened at the realization.
"oh no..." you facepalmed when you saw the look of annoyance on his face.
"where is he?!" he stands up from his seat and started to stomp towards your room. you followed after, trying to stop the boy from doing anything further.
"tooru, he's not here!"

your mom, who was left in the kitchen, thought to herself. "did i say something wrong?"
"i told you he isn't here." you placed your hands on your hips while oikawa was still checking every corner of your room looking for atsumu.
"that brat got away so quickly." he hissed, throwing the pillow back on your bed and laying there. "why are you still with him? aren't you two "fake dating" or whatever that is?"
"well about that..." you sat next to him on your bed. "we're actually together now."
"you–" he was going to ramble again, but stopped when he saw you smiling at him. "... you're actually dating him now?"
"yup. so i wish you'd be more nicer to him, 'kay?"
oikawa hugs one of your pillow and looks away from you. "...i'll try." he said. "but i'm still the best setter right?"
"maybe." you chuckled.
"hey!" he frowns, but then suddenly realizes something. "i had a match with him yesterday."
"with...him?" you asked.
"tobio."
the smile on your face suddenly vanished when you heard his name, it's been a while after all. "oh." you lowered your head.
"but he's changed, [Y/N]. and you know me, i hate to admit things like that." he said. "sorry, i didn't mean to remind you of him."
"it's okay, it's all in the past after all." you lifted your head back up and gave him a smile. "i've got atsumu now, and that's all i could ask for."
you say that, but as soon as oikawa left your room, memories that you had hid deep within you started to resurface. you started remembering all that happened in miyagi, back when you first started going to aoba johsai.
"tobio?" you called out to the boy. lately, you noticed how he was always spacing out. since you attend different schools now, you didn't get to spend as much time with him as you did before.
"huh?" he snaps out of his thoughts and looks at you.
"are you alright?" you tilt your head in confusion.
"y-yeah, sorry 'bout that. volleyball's just been... consuming me lately." he said, looking back at you.
"it's okay, no worries." you intertwined your hands with his, but he didn't hold it as tightly as he did before.
a couple of weeks have passed and you noticed how your boyfriend grew more distant lately. summer break was near so you wanted to spend time with him more, but he was too focused on volleyball to do anything with you.
everytime you would text him to hang out, he'd respond that he had practice that day. when you try to call him, he would pick up late or not at all. you felt like you were being a little bit pushy, so you decided to let him focus for a while and leave him be.
it pained you of course, seeing him change so much from when you two started dating. oikawa noticed your sadness, he wasn't dumb to not know the reason why.
and then, the match where his teammates left him at the court happened.
the very moment you heard about it you rushed out of aoba johsai and went to his school to check how he was. you saw him there at the gym alone, lowering his head while a towel was draped around his shoulders.
"tobio..." you approached the boy, not knowing how to comfort him.
"what?" he asked in a harsher tone, still not looking at you.
"are... are you okay?" you held out the water bottle you had with you, hoping he would take it. "about what happened, i... i'm sorry. i don't know what to say at times like this..." you apologized.
"then why are you here?"
"because i care for you tobio." you frowned. "you can talk to me about it if you want–" you walked towards him, but he suddenly stands up which startled you.
"can you stop being such a nuisance?! god if only i knew you were like this i never would've dated you!" he pushes you away from him, making the water bottle that you were holding drop to the floor.
"i-i was just–"
"leave me alone! we're done!" he started to stomp out of the gym, but your hand grabbed his wrist in hopes of stopping him.
"wait please! can't we just–" he swings his arm away from you making you let go of your grip. he looked at you directly in the eye, but you felt like it wasn't the same person you once knew. the caring and sweet person you knew was gone, all that's left is a dull shade of blue with nothing but emptiness inside. they were someone else's eyes, a completely different person from the one you fell in love with.
"get the fuck away from me."
that was the last day you saw kageyama tobio. after that incident, you did all you could to avoid the boy and stayed as far from kitagawa as possible. when you finally reached your second year, your mother told you the news about moving to hyogo.
in all honesty, you don't know what you'd do if you saw kageyama again. you tried to shake off any thoughts of him and buried your head on your pillow, shutting your eyes and forcing yourself to sleep. you had already forgotten the call atsumu was waiting for.

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
