as atsumu sat at the dinning table with your mother, he couldn't help but to feel shaky while his eyes were fixed on his lap. never in a thousand years would he have guessed that michiko signora, a very famous celebrity, was your mother.

he remembers him and osamu watching her dramas every day after school since their mother was so invested by it. nevertheless, it made the twins invested in it too. everyone in japan would have most likely heard of the name michiko signora and how her beauty never fails to stand out in the crowd.

now that atsumu thought of it, the picture frame back in your room looked very much like michiko. he noticed that you had inherited your fathers [H/C] hair and [E/C] eyes, while some of your features came from michiko.

"so," the woman in front of him started. "atsumu miya, correct?"

"y-yes." he wanted to slap himself for stuttering and sounding so nervous. "yes." he repeated with much more confidence this time. he finally met michiko's eyes, her eyebrows were raised while her arms were crossed in front of her chest. this was enough to make atsumu gulp in fear.

"and you're my daughter's boyfriend?"

"...yes."

he saw michiko eyeing him from head to toe. atsumu felt his heartbeat speed up, he didn't know what his first impression was to her. after all, she did just witness him all around her daughter like a slug a few moments ago.

"what's your school performance?" the woman asked.

"... average."

"had any girlfriends before?"

"no." atsumu answered almost instantly.

"huh. i took you as a bit of a playboy." michiko lowers her arms and rests it on the table. "got any hobbies?"

"i play volleyball."

"are you good at it?"

"i'm the best at it." they both widened their eyes at the boy's statement. atsumu didn't mean to make such a straight forward answer, it was a force of habit since that's what he would answer to almost anybody. anybody except your very own mother. "i-i mean yeah, i'm good."

michiko leans in towards the boy. "your family status?"

"what?"

"how do you do financially?"

"mom!" you finally joined in as you set the plates down on the table. "stop scaring him."

"oh i wasn't scaring him honey, i was just asking a few questions that's all." she smiles at her daughter who sat beside atsumu.

the boy felt calmer now that you were here, he didn't have to be alone with your mother anymore. he felt the shakiness of his legs fading away, thankful that you were finally beside him.

"you don't have to answer her questions." you told him as you were putting food on your plate.

"well, that wouldn't really be respectful would it?" he says, taking a quick glance at your mom to see if she would approve. the woman was still staring at him with one of her eyebrows up, making atsumu shift his eyes away from her.

"well, if you say so." the three of you thanked for the food and started to eat. you could feel the awkwardness as you heard the clashing of the silverware and were now wishing takeru was here to liven things up a little.

"so, mom." you started to help ease the tension. "how was your trip?"

"same as ever, some auditions here and there. have you not been watching tv? i'm the latest star in the upcoming drama called "Love Me Not." she says.

atsumu remembers his brother mentioning something about a new drama he found out about. surely, he heard that michiko signora was in it.

"have you watched any of the dramas i played in, atsumu?" michiko asked.

"yeah, i have actually. me and my brother used to watch yer shows a lot." he replied truthfully.

"used to? what a bummer." michiko shook her head, making atsumu a bit nervous again.

"h-he's a really big fan of you!"

"and you're not?" she shot the boy a look, it was as if atsumu has been pinned by daggers. "that's disappointing."

"n-no i meant–"

"mom." you tried to stop your mother and her teasing before atsumu could wet himself.

"sorry darling." she gave you another smile and went back to eating. "i'm testing to see if he was like that other kid."

atsumu furrowed his brows. other kid?

"didn't he play volleyball just like him?"

"..." you stayed silent, not wanting to drag the conversation further. atsumu had a feeling he knew who your mother was talking about.

"tooru did text about you having a boyfriend." michiko takes a sip of her water before looking at you. "why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"because..." you tried to think of an excuse. you didn't want to tell her about the deal and how you just started dating atsumu yesterday, it would surely freak your mother out. "...i thought you were busy so i didn't tell you anything about it."

"that's sweet honey. i understand." michiko's features softened. "although, there's one thing i don't quite understand."

"what is it?"

"why would you go for him?" he points at atsumu. the boy could instantly feel all the colors in his body leaving him.

"...what?"

"break up with him."

you dropped the utensils you were holding on your plate. "you're not serious."

"you think i'd joke about something like this? [Y/N] what if he turns out to be like that last guy?" her tone began to louden.

"he's not."

"you don't know that."

"i don't think it's yer choice to make." atsumu spoke, stopping you and your mother's rambling. "i believe it's her choice to do whatever she'd like. she's her own person, nobody owns her."

"but i'm her mother, don't you think it's only fair for her to follow me?" michiko crossed her arms. "and who are you to talk?"

"she has her own freedom. let her have it." atsumu took a deep breath before shifting his gaze towards you. "if she wants to break up with me, then i'll accept it."

"atsumu..." you couldn't hold it back anymore. no, not tears. "i-i'm sorry..." you had to look away from him and started laughing.

"w-what?" atsumu felt lost when you started to laugh at him out of nowhere. had he said something bad? he didn't know. he just simply spoke out the truth.

"honey, why would you blow our cover like that?" michiko face palmed. "i wanted to scare him more..."

"because!" you wiped a tear from the corner of your eye. "i-i can't take this anymore..." you laughed more as you hold on to your stomach.

"what's goin' on...?" atsumu was very much confused.

"well, it's been a tradition." you said, trying to calm yourself down. "every time my mom would meet a friend of mine, she would have to scare them first."

"...what?"

"what you've witnessed was all part of my acting skills dear atsumu." she finally smiles at the boy. "and please call me [M/N] from now on. my real name is [M/N] oikawa." (she is using her maiden's name)

"so... you don't actually hate me...?" atsumu asked.

"after that speech you just gave, how could i ever?" she giggles. "no one ever talked back to me like that. you're the first."

"is that a good thing..?"

"yes, and no. you said the right thing, and i'm actually really glad." she walks towards atsumu's table and lightly ruffles his hair. "treat her well, okay? i have a feeling you're not like that other kid." she whispered to him before pulling back.

"what did you say to him?" you pout, wanting to know what it was about.

"nothing honey."

atsumu nodded at [M/N], and gave her a wide smile. "i promise."

"that was a new core memory." you laughed, remembering what atsumu did earlier. you were now washing the dishes with him while your mother went to takeru's room to wake him up.

"i knew yer good at acting but i never knew yer this good." he rolled his eyes. "i just embarrassed myself didn't i?"

"don't say that." you nudged his sides with your arm. "you just proved yourself to my mom, and it seems like she liked you."

"why is this a tradition anyway? so all of yer friends have gone through the same thing as i did?"

"basically yeah." you chuckled. "some even pissed themselves from fear. never would they have expected to meet the one and only michiko signora."

"has yuki met her?"

you widened your eyes. "you just gave me an idea."

after you both finished washing the dishes, you went to the living room and sat on the sofa with atsumu. you laid your head on his lap while his fingers played with your [H/C] hair.

"what time are you leaving?"

"in a few minutes. i have to say goodbye to yer mom first." he replied. he wanted to ask about the other kid your mother was talking about, but he knew you didn't want to talk about it yet. he had a feeling it was about your ex and he didn't want to cross a line.

"atsumu-kun?" a half asleep takeru greeted him as he went down the stairs with [M/N] following behind him.

"ohayo takeru-kun." he greets back. "you sleep well?"

"i was, 'til mom came in and barged through my door." he yawned.

"hey, not even an 'i miss you'?" your mother pouts. "anyway, are you leaving soon atsumu?"

"yeah, i was just 'bout to." you got off atsumu's lap to let him stand up. "thanks for havin' me over."

"you can come by anytime you'd like." she smiles. atsumu gave her one last nod and walks towards the door with you.

"i'll see you in school on monday–"

"wait!" he stops you before you could close the door.

"what is it?"

"tomorrow. let's go on a date."
