"why? why do you like him?" suna asked.
you scratched the back of your head, "i don't really know myself... it just happened i guess?"
"but he's just gonna treat you like one of his flings."
"...i know."
"then why? why would you fall for him knowing you'd get hurt in the end?!" suna's voice began to grow louder, worrying you.
"rintaro calm down-"
"can't you see i'm the one here for you [Y/N]?" he got off his bed, setting the ice pack down on the table and making his way to you. "why can't you just fall for me instead?!"
he was now in front of you, his eyes never leaving yours. his statement didn't shock you since you heard his confession when he was talking to atsumu earlier. you frowned, not knowing what to say.
"i-i'm sorry..."
suna's face softened at your sad tone. he immediately regret raising his voice at you, he probably scared you. "no i..." he paused and wrapped his arms around you, engulfing you in a hug.
"no, i'm sorry." he mumbled in your ear. "i shouldn't have startled you like that."
you felt his warmth calming you down. you hugged him back, your arms wrapping around his torso. "you were just looking out for me right? it's okay."
suna could feel his chest tightening. he wanted you to be his, he wanted you to not be hurt, but he can't. he wants you to be happy, and he knew you were much happier with atsumu. "you can just forget anything i said earlier."
"what? but-"
"it's alright. don't worry about me." the two of you stayed like that for a bit, admiring each other's presence and not saying a word. you wanted to comfort suna more, but you didn't know how knowing you were the one hurting him.
"[Y/N]-san! you're done for the day!" hana called out to you.
"okay!" you stopped the flame on the stove and went out of the kitchen to get some rest. it was the second day of the festival and it was still busy as ever. you hesitated on taking a shower and changing your clothes this time since you didn't want the same situation to happen again.
"[Y/N]-chan are you done for the day?" yuki, who was holding a tray, asked you.
"yeah, how 'bout you?"
"unfortunately i have to do this for the whole day." she sighed. "are you going somewhere?"
"not really, i'll just wonder around i guess."
"sure, see ya later!"

"see ya!" you waved goodbye to yuki and started to walk away.
you haven't seen suna since your talk yesterday. he didn't reply to your message either so you were quite worried. you wanted to ask yuki how he was, but you knew the girl would just question you more instead of giving you a straight answer.
"sawarasenai, kimi wa shojo na no
boku wa yarichin bicchi no osu da yo!"
your ringtone started to go off. you grabbed the phone from your pocket and looked at the caller id. "tooru? why is he calling me all of a sudden?" you picked it up, oikawa greeting you first.
"[Y/N]-chan! how are you? i've missed you!" he said on the other line.
"what do you want now tooru?" you groaned annoyingly.
"how rude! i just wanted to ask how you've been!"
"stop acting like a brat and tell me what you want." you rolled your eyes.
"jeez fine i'll cut to the chase! just wanted to remind you that the match is in two days." you froze, already forgetting about the deal him and atsumu made.
"y-yeah. right." you laughed awkwardly. "have a safe journey on the way here i guess."
"are you ready for your boyfriend to lose?" he boasted. "well, it's already expected anyway."
"may i remind you that him and his team always went to nationals-"
"anyway! i've wanted to say this before but i forgot to." he cuts you off. "you have a thing for setters don't you [Y/N]-chan?"
"...excuse me?"
"well, remember when we were young you said you wanted to marry me? you even called me your prince charm-"
"we were five tooru!" your face flushed, remembering how you used to play with oikawa a lot back then.
"and then when you were in your last year in kitagawa you got into a relationship with k-"
"that's enough. i'm ending the call."
"wait [Y/N]-chan!"
"bye." you pressed the end button and gritted your teeth. he didn't have to remind me about that, you thought. you stomped away angrily, annoyed at your uncle for always sticking his nose in other people's business.
"what? you're in a relationship with him?! out of all people?"
"yeah, you got a problem with that?"
oikawa couldn't do anything but to cross his arms and look away from you. "you're lucky i already graduated from kitagawa or i would've been guarding you 24/7."
"whatever. i'm graduating next year as well." you sipped the juice of out the carton you just bought.

"you're going to aoba johsai right?!" the male now had sparkles in his eyes, waiting for your answer.
you tilt your head up and thought about it. "i guess."
"great! now i can guard you from all the boys who stay close to you."
"what are you a guard dog?"
you snickered at the memory of oikawa, thinking of how protective he was of you. since you were just a year younger than him, he probably thought of you more as a little sister.
you didn't realize it but your feet lead you to the inside of the school where no clubs were placed. it was deserted and kind of dark, no one was in sight.
"wouldn't hurt to stay here for a bit i guess." you murmured to yourself and peeked in one of the insides of an empty room.
well, you thought it was empty. when you looked, you saw a redheaded female pressing herself up against someone wearing a black cape. your eyes widened, shutting your mouth close and stepping away from the door hoping they didn't see you.
you hid behind a corner, your heart still beating from the sight you just saw. you knew the girl was heather, there was no doubt about it. but the guy in the black cape...
no, it couldn't be him right? he hates her... you thought. you wanted to believe it wasn't atsumu, and that it was just a coincidence that man had the same outfit as him. you wanted to believe that he wouldn't do such a thing. the more you thought about it the more your heart started to ache.
it's not him, i'm just thinking about it too much... with that, you left the building before anyone could even see you.
it was the final day of the festival. it was even busier than it was the first day so you grew more tired as the hours went by. you heard that there was going to be a bonfire later this night so you were quite excited for that. yuki told you that all the students would be surrounding the bonfire later so she invited you to go.
you however, already had plans. you decided that enough was enough and that you had to finally talk to atsumu. you didn't see him since the incident from two days ago, so you thought he just took your words seriously. you said it out of anger but you didn't exactly meant what you said, which leads us back to where you are now.
hey, can you meet me at the empty classroom beside class 2-3 later? i have something to tell you
Time?
uhm, around six maybe? just before the bonfire starts
Yeah ok
you let out a deep sigh, thankful that he actually agreed. you weren't even sure he was going to respond to you in the first place. you went back to helping out with your booth and hoped that the meeting with atsumu would go well.
before you knew it, it was already pass 5pm. customers had started to lessen and the sun started to set. after a long day of working your arms grew sore, reminding you that you needed to work out more.
"hey [Y/N]-chan, you coming to the bonfire with me?" yuki asked. she was already dressed out of her maid outfit.
"oh, sorry yuki i'm meeting with someone in a bit."
"mkay! call me whenever you need me!"
"sure, have fun!" yuki walked away from the now empty booth with some of your other classmates. you checked the time and saw that it was already 5:45.
"i gotta get going." you mumbled. you exit your booth as well and started to walk towards the empty school building since most students were already setting up the bonfire.
your footsteps echoed throughout the empty hallway, nothing but distant shouts from some students can be heard. as you were walking, you heard footsteps mixing in with yours.
"those footsteps... don't tell me..." when you said that, heather turned around the corner and met you. "great." you heard the footsteps had the sound of heels, and you knew only one person daring enough to wear pointy ones to school.
"well if it isn't [L/N]. how are you doing sweetie?" heather smirks. you noticed how her hair was slightly messier than before, and how her dark red lipstick seemed to have been smudged at her bottom lip.
"i have no time talking to you." you walked pass her, surprised she actually let you go this time.
"don't worry i'll give you back your clothes soon." she laughs and started to walk away.
i knew it, she was the one who took the clothes out of my locker, you thought. you clicked your tongue, still annoyed by what she did two days ago.
you walked towards the classroom you told atsumu to meet you in. you opened it and saw the boy looking out the window where the light from the bonfire can be seen.
"hey." you called out. it was kind of dark inside the room, but it was still light enough to see. you could see that atsumu was wearing his maroon jersey together with his track pants.
"so, whaddya want?" he turned around to face you.
there, you noticed the same color of lipstick heather had smudged on his lip.
