《Unnatural Disaster || JJK ✔️》Chapter 44: Blade [Edited]

Three days. Three sunrises and three sunsets. Three nights of sleeplessness. And 72 hours of unbearable agony. In just a blink of an eye, my life had turned upside down and I couldn't do anything to turn it back over.
It's been three whole days that I had been stuck in this shabby vault with my existence turning drearier by every drifting second. After my failed eloping incident, Sang Ook decided to lock me up with tighter ropes in a different cellar, one that had no windows, just a small hole for minimum ventilation. So generous of him, isn't it?
The lack of nature in this hell hole was really starting to take a toll on my sanity and I was honestly worried for I didn't know how long it'd take me to lose it. More over the scanty provision I was remunerated with made little to no difference. Apparently, Sang-Ook was pretty committed to this whole bad guy mafia man image and he made it very clear that until and unless I transferred this whole syndicate to him, he ain't letting me go.
"Just a small sign Y/N-aah, and then all this will be over. See the pen over there? Just take it and write your name on this piece of paper and you'll be free of any burden you ever had-"
"What about the burden of trusting a pathetic soul like yourself and your illegitimate son?"
Sang-Ook's cloyingly sweet demeanor morphed into a much more stoic one and his glare grazed my soul with a shivery touch. With thunderous steps he approached my form, that was messily sprawled on the rugged floor from utter exertion. He squatted down in front of me and with his rough, fat fingers, he grabbed my face as harshly as he could before howling at my face.
"How dare you talk about my son like that, you conceited bitch?"
The way he held my face, his nails dug into my skin, and it was painful, but I couldn't help but let out an exasperated scoff.
"You are one to talk" I scorned earning a hard punch right across my face. By now, I had lost count of how many such smacks have had graced my body so far. After I recovered from my taser attack, Min Jun had given me a good beating that he referred to as his "revenge". The punches and kicks he threw on my restrained self was only enough to incapacitate me for a day or two but then again, his esteemed father kept visiting me, thereby rewarding me with more hits every time I tried to protect my dignity and my father's heritage.

However, even after the torments and cinematic insults, I still hadn't given up and I never would.
"Seems like our kind hospitality isn't suiting you dear, time to take it up a notch" yet another sickening grin emerged on the old man's face and with one clap of his hands, in came two guards, each holding a small, silver dagger. For a quick second my eyes widened but I was fast at masking it. I didn't want them to get a hint of their successful intimidation.
One of the guards approached me with slow strides and I closed my eyes, waiting for the pain to brace me like an old friend.
The icy touch of a metal was first felt on my left arm which was soon replaced by a fiery, burning sensation as a deep incision was made on my skin. It took me a lot of effort and a hard bite on my tongue to refrain myself from screaming out in pain. I could feel tears welling up against the barrier of my lids but I couldn't set them free. I absolutely forbade myself from showing any signs of weakness in front of these grim lunatics, not now, not ever.
A second twinge rippled through my right thigh and I turned my face away, gritting and hissing in pain. My breath had become deeper yet staggered and no matter how much I tried to shroud it, I could practically feel the struggle take refuge on my contorting face.
So I kept my eyes closed and waited for a third laceration to come but this time it was a rough grip around my jaw that made me look up to meet the eyes of an annoyed Sang-Ook.
"I see you are too egocentric to just give up. Doesn't matter though, cause I on the other hand am very capable of getting what I want, by hook or by crook. PASS ME THE BLADE" yelling the last part with his whiny voice, Sang Ook knelt down in front of me.
With eyes coated in harrowing anticipation, I kept looking at the man as he brought the weapon up, right in front of my face while staring at the object with some sort of longing, as if the knife was his one true love. A sadistic smile unfurled on his lips and he placed the object on my cheek with utter leniency. However, as much gentle as he had been with his previous action, Sang-Ook cut my cheek open with a coequal brutality.

This time, I just couldn't just keep it in, and I let out a thunderous groan, while thrashing my restrained hands and legs in severe ache. This man was a sick antagonist and I had to do something before he ended up ripping my rationality off of me. I had to plan something real fast because giving up was not an option.
Warm blood trickled down my neck, burning my soul in its way. How could I let this happen to myself? I didn't care what he was doing to my body but the scars he was leaving on my memories, they seemed too heavy to ever obliterate. Why? Why did this have to happen to me? Why now, when I was finally starting to care about my life?
"Are you going to sign the contract now?"
"NO" was my immediate answer. All I knew was that he could kill me, even cut me into pieces if he wanted, and I wouldn't still give in. But the next words he chose to speak left me defeated in my own game.
"Hurting you won't work, now will it? Let's see if you can still keep this act up if the knife cuts open SeokJin's skin instead, or perhaps, Yoongi's ?"
Three fucking days and we still had no lead.
Its all my fault. Why did I have to take her to a secluded area?
You're so stupid Jungkook.....!
"Hey Kook, you still there or you just died standing up?" a deep voice echoed in my ears followed by a tap on the arm and I looked up to see a confused Taehyung staring at me, peeping deep into my soul.
"Huh, what? Were you saying something?" breaking free from the lingering aftershock of my remorseful trance, I somehow managed to formulate some words only to earn an 'are you serious' look from Taehyung.
He had volunteered to work with the police to help hack Buzzard's network and retrieve Y/N's whereabouts. Everyone chose to believe that it was them, the Buzzards, that took Y/N away and since Taehyung had no recorded criminal history, the office didn't question his involvement. They were unaware of his connection with the mafia whatsoever.
"I think I found something" he maneuvered me to his computer and showed me the screen. There, on the screen, played a video that dated back to two years ago. It showed two men conversing inside a hospital canteen while having tea. One of them was clad in a white coat indicating his medical expertise and the other wore a brown fancy suit. Both the men looked middle aged.
However, no matter how much Taehyung looked intrigued with the video, I was still struggling to find out its worth.
"Umm, hyung......why are we watching a years old surveillance footage of a hospital?" I asked, only to be shushed down by him.
"This is the very same hospital where Y/N's dad died and this is the exact date of his death, so shut up and listen carefully" he turned the clip volume up a notch and I compliantly obeyed his order, now a little tempted myself.
"Job well done, here's your cash. The remaining amount will be transferred to your account"
"Thank you Sir, it was great working with you"
"The pleasure's all mine Doc. But one thing, don't let anybody ever know about this. No one should come across the truth about Myung-Dae's death. No one should ever know that we poisoned him........Is that clear?"
"Yes sir. You have paid me enough, so you can trust me."
"Good"
Collecting the assurance he needed, the man in brown turned around. However, even with the pixelated view of the footage, the face still managed to seem highly familiar. And the gasp let out by the my hacker companion made it clear that he have had a similar realization.
And the explanation he gave for it made the images in my head much more lucid. I remembered where I saw the face. The day I joined this office, Namjoon was orating about Kim Mafia and he had a picture of Myung-Dae with a certain friend of his. This man was the very same friend.
Myung-Dae's right hand man, ...

Riftwalker
Legend speaks that a roaring force of insatiable abyss lies beneath the peaceful overworld. Named the Rift after its chasm-like entrances, this unexplored void has consumed the underneath for eons. What had seemed just a myth crawled out of unreality in the form of eldritch creatures. Reborn as something not entirely human, mankind rejected the boy. Thrown into the Rift by people who feared him, he had to live in a world run by monsters as a newborn. Surviving, however, wasn't his only difficulty as he soon had to decide whether he would save the people who banished him or simply idle as the Rift engulfed all life. As of chapter 9, Riftwalker is on a very small hiatus. I'm very busy with work atm :( Here are a couple of things to expect: Lots of action and exploration! Diverse and refreshing creatures; There are good and evil. Satisfying progression and coming of age. The protagonist stands out but isn't overpowered. There are some litRPG elements, but it's not a determinant factor. The fights are decided through one's combat skill and experience and not stat-checking. Oh, and some other info: There is a bit of gore, but nothing disturbing. Occasionally, there will be images of the scenery and landscape. Chapters will be around 1,5k to 2k words long, and the releases will probably be relatively slow, sorry.

Yuan, the valiant 'Hero' who defeated the 'Demon King', was unfortunately betrayed by his most trusted comrades who accompanied him in his life-long journey. "Heh... I never thought that I'd die like this... In the hands of my own comrades at that..." With that self-deprecating remark, the great Hero, Yuan, fell into an eternal slumber. Of course, that was what he initially thought, but life had other plans set for him. As his soul was drifting off aimlessly into the unknown, a soft and ethereal voice soon called out to him: "My Child, you have suffered and was betrayed. You gave it your all but didn't receive anything in return. In the end, you were killed by those whom you called your own." And so, a miracle was generously bestowed upon Yuan. "I will give you another chance in life My Child... I hope that you lead this new life the way you want it to be. Next time do not be controlled and easily deceived by others... Do whatever it is that you want and desire." Yuan Amon, born and raised in an ordinary family in the Philippines, led a leisurely new life on Earth, only to get summoned right back to his old one 18 years later. "I... I can't understand... Just why... Why was I sent back here of all places!?" A roar of utter dismay resounded in his private chambers. IMPORTANT NOTE (21/10/20): I have dropped this novel on this website! But don't worry, because I have remade this novel on another website called Webnovel.com so you can check it out over there! The story has completely changed though, so don't expect the same old thing, okay? I will still keep this dropped novel here though because it serves as a memory for me when I just started writing so I won't be deleting it. I hope to see you there on Webnovel!
