《Indelible Affairs》⚜️ Chapter 78⚜️

I let my eyes linger longer on Robert's house. The breezed air hits my crimson cheeks as I watched Enos exit the house with the last bag on his hand. I leaned on the car from outside, my hands grasping the key chain.
"I hope we didn't forget anything." He vocalized, opening the back and placing the duffle bag inside.
"It wouldn't matter, it's not like we're staying there for longer than a day or perhaps two if things go well." I said nervously, grasping the key chain tighter. I don't expect for things to go smoothly. If they do, then Thank you God.
"You're panicking again." He chuckled, closing the door and moving towards me.
I looked up at the brightest ray of sunshine still beaming in my life and offered him a smile. "I'm that obvious uh?"
The ray shakes his head, "Nah, I'm just getting good at reading your little expressions." Enos kisses my cheek before adjusting my jacket. "It's too hot for this."
"I don't feel it." I announced, allowing my eyes to survey his lean but broad frame, admiring the way that t-shirt captured his muscles. He is quite the site to see.
"You're doing it again." Enos smirked.
I raised a brow, acting confused, "What? I'm not even doing anything."
"Don't pretend you weren't checking me out." His lip line curved to form a sensual but slightly cynical smile that created a JD look in his captivating face.
"I wasn't doing that." I moved backwards slowly and tossed him the car keys, he caught them. "You are driving instead, I change my mind." I informed.
He chuckled, coming after me. "Look at who is getting shy."
My ears turned red, "Not me obviously." I kept moving away.

"Come here." He stretched his hands out for me, "I want to kiss you."
"I won't be bought by such petty things Enos White." I licked my lips when I noticed him doing the same.
"Oh really." He stopped on his track. "So what is Elisabeth Wilson's prize?"
I pretended to think about it and decided to fun and game. "I want a prince, with a castle and servants everywhere."
"Granted." He took one large final step, grabbed me by my waist and pulled me on his chest, close enough to unite our breathes. "Anything else?"
I leaned my head on his chest slowly, wrapping my hands around his neck and allowing my ears his heart beats. "A promise."
"Aren't we going way too fast for wedding vows? Can't we wait a few years?" I heard the teasing in his voice.
"Stop messing around." I laughed lightly. I closed my eyes and felt him. "Not those kinds of promises."
He held me tighter. "I was already getting my hopes up for a second there." Enos almost sounded serious.
I took a deep breathe and paused for a second. "Its like I don't have a family anymore." I said quietly. "I was hoping I could be yours."
It was a risky move. I never thought to ask anyone of anything like this before but I'm scared of being alone. It's a horrible place and don't want to go back to that. And yes, I know it's a selfish thing to ask, it's not Enos's duty to grant me closure or a home or anything just because we have a relationship, but I can't help to be anything but selfish. Perhaps he won't get tired of me and this may last us a couple of years. And if I'm lucky, more than a couple.

Perhaps this love affair will maim us for as long as it takes.
I felt his lips on my temple, laying a gentle kiss. "Granted."
That was all Enos said and it was more than enough.
It meant everything to me.
And he'd never know.
He'd never know just how much that one word means to me.

The flight was treacherous. I've always hated planes, turbulence, the high, nausea, everything. I force myself to sleep each time in a flight, the hours move quicker.
But I can't sleep today. I'm too anxious to close my eyes. I can't stop imagining my brothers and father before me again.
Will their eyes light up when they see me? Is it going to be the same? I doubt it. We might be the same people but we aren't who we used to be. Alot has happened to me, and I'm sure they have been through it too. We all have one thing in common, trouble never leaves us alone. The children of a broken regime.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked Enos who sat beside me. His hand on mine and the other behind his head. He was comfortable and I was everything but that.
"Dad." He answered me.
"You miss him already?"
"Sorta." Enos smirked.
"Liar." I laughed. "Admit it, you can't stop thinking about the old man."
"I won't."
"Think about him? Or miss him? Or admit you are both thinking and missing him?"
"All the above." He shifted his gaze from the magazine to my eyes. "What are you thinking about?" He inquired.
I huffed while closing my eyes.
"Don't ask me?"
"I wanna know." He insisted.
"Dad." I replied.
"You miss him already?"
I smiled at the reuse of slipped sentences. "Sorta."
"Liar. Admit it, you can't stop thinking about the old man."
I snorted and then released a laugh, "How do you remember every single thing?"
Enos' ignored my question. "Admit it."
"I won't." I kept playing at his game.
"Alright." He said, cutting it short. "Look at this." He pointed at an article based on vatican archives and then we read it, talked about it, woed at his intelligence, talked about other stuff, and then I fell asleep. The treacherous flight long forgotten and everything left behind.
