《•°From Peer to Professor°• Severus Snape x Reader》Nurture

I woke up from the rhythmic sound of the heart monitor next to my bed and sighed. I had honestly believed that yesterday's events were a dream, being that Elora wasn't due for a few more weeks, but I'm glad it wasn't. Because now she's here, and I absolutely love her.
I kept my eyes closed and took a moment to adjust to the light shining through the window.
"(Y/N)? How are you feeling?" I heard Severus ask me in a hushed tone as not to disturb me if I were feeling poorly.
"I feel fine actually. And you, did you sleep at all?" I asked, knowing well enough that Severus most likely didn't rest as much as he should have.
"I took a short nap." Severus replied as he helped me sit upright.
"Well, at least you didn't stay up the entire night." I replied with a small smile.
"The doctor said we'd be able to leave in the next few days. We could visit your mother if you'd like? Introduce Elora to her." Severus offered.
"That sounds like a great idea." I replied happily.
Today was the day that Severus and I could leave St. Mungo's with Elora. It was quite nerve-wracking staying in that hospital room for 3 days straight. But now that I am able to get up and move again, my doctor thinks I'm in the clear to leave.
Severus was packing some of our belongings whilst I was making sure that Elora was dressed and ready to go with us. As soon as the nurses checked us out at reception, we left the building in search of a taxi that could drive us to my mother's house.
Severus hailed one for us pretty quickly and took Elora from me, who was currently resting in her carrier.
After 2 minutes of loading our belongings into the taxi, we were on our way to see my mother.

We arrived at my former home after around an hour. Elora slept soundly throughout the ride, thanks to the driver who made sure he was driving safely. I took Elora out of the backseat whilst Severus retrieved our things. We then paid the driver and he left shortly after.
I sighed as I turned to look at the house,
"My mother will probably pass out when she sees Elora, Severus."
Severus chuckled at the mental image and responded,
"I reckon that she'll be able to handle herself."
I smiled at Severus and peered down at Elora who seems to have woken up. Severus rang the doorbell and then stepped back.
The door opened after a good 10 seconds and my mother smiled once she realized it was us. Although it took her a couple seconds to notice Elora, once she did, her hands shot up to cover her mouth.

"Oh my goodness! But how- Weren't you due in 2 weeks!? Come in both of you!" My mother was all over the place with her questions as expected.
Once Inside, she took some of the things Severus was carrying so that he could take Elora from me. By now, she was fully awake and was making small cooing sounds.
Severus picked Elora up carefully from the carrier and held her against his chest. It was quite sweet how gentle he was when placing his hand on the back of her head.
My mother was clearly excited to see her because she was having trouble standing still where she was standing. Severus noticed this and carefully handed Elora over to my mother.
"Oh Elora is such an adorable newborn." My mother said in a whisper as not to disturb her.
We all decided to sit down in the living room and talk a bit. That is until a thought came to mind.
"Mom? Where is (B/N)?" I asked her.
"Oh! I believe he's up in his room drawing. You can go up and check on him if you'd like." She told me.
I nodded and walked up the stairs. Upon opening the door a crack, I saw (B/N) laying flat on his stomach, drawing with some colored pencils.
"Boo." I whispered.
He shot his head up in my direction, a smile spreading across his face.
"(Y/N)!" He yelled and ran over to hug me.
I chuckled at his gesture and responded,
"Hey (B/N)! I missed you so much."
"Me too! Ooh! Do you want to see my drawing?" He was extremely hyper and hopped up and down.
"Sure, what did you draw?" I asked and crouched down to look.
"It's an astronaut unicorn see? It's on a rocket in space!" (B/N) was proudly explaining his drawing while pointing at every part of it.
We talked briefly about unicorns and space and then I switched the conversation to why I was here. I explained that Severus was downstairs and he already seemed more excited once I mentioned his name. Then I told him about Elora.
(B/N) was shocked to say the least. But I expected that kind of reaction from him.
"Elora is downstairs as well. Do you want to meet her?" I asked him with a smile.
He nodded his head vigorously and followed me out of his room and down the stairs.
As soon as (Y/N) disappeared up the stairs, her mother asked me a couple questions about Elora,
"How did you two come up with the name?"
"To be quite honest, it came to mind all of a sudden as we were discussing possible names. (Y/N) seemed to like it, so we chose it." I explained to her.

She nodded and smiled down at Elora who was currently staring off to the side whilst resting in (Y/N)'s mother's arms.
"So which last name did you pick?" She inquired after a bit of silence.
"We decided upon using mine." I responded curtly, unsure of why she asked me that question.
"And when will (Y/N)'s last name change to yours, hm?" She had a teasing tone in her voice.
"Em.. well I hadn-"
"Hey guys, I brought (B/N) to meet Elora."
The conversation was interrupted as soon as (Y/N) walked in with her brother.
"Mom is holding Elora, why don't you go sit next to her." I offered to him while pointing at one of the two sofas.
(B/N) walked over and cautiously peered over the blanket Elora was wrapped in.
"So I have another sister?" He asked happily.
I chuckled and responded,
"No (B/N). She's your niece, so you're her uncle."
His face contorted into one of confusion,
"But I'm not old like uncle (U/N)."
We all laughed at his response. Even Severus seemed amused by it.
"What did you two talk about while I was upstairs?" I asked as our laughter died down.
Severus seemed caught off guard by the question and had trouble responding.
"Oh, nothing really. I was mostly curious about how you picked Elora's name." My mother replied.
I wasn't quite sure about her response, but left the topic alone for now.
Eventually, Elora fell asleep. As did (B/N).
"What time is it currently?" I inquired with my mother.
"Around 4 I believe. Do you two need to get going already?" She asked us sadly.
"Yeah, we need to drive home, so it'll take a bit longer than usually. We want to make it back before dark." I replied with a sigh.
My mother's hopeful look faltered at my response, but she helped us get our things together nonetheless.
A little while later, a new taxi arrived to take us home. The drive was mostly quiet, other than the occasional small talk from the driver.
Once we finally arrived home, the sun was nearly setting. It looked like everything was covered in gold.
I sighed and took Elora out of the car, as well as a bag of mine. Severus grabbed the luggage and then paid the driver.
Upon entering the house, Elora seemed very awake. She was cooing and waving her tiny arms around. I smiled and picked her up and out of the carrier. She focused her attention on me and just stared. I was a bit concerned, as she was frozen for about 10 seconds. She then started giggling and looked over my shoulder. I turned to see Severus grinning lightly at Elora's actions.
"I think she wants you to hold her." I chuckled as I handed her over to him.
Severus held her in his left arm, while his right kept her from falling forward.
"It seems so." He replied.
Elora smiled up at Severus and reached up with her hands. At first I thought she was reaching for Severus' face, but then she grasped tightly onto his hair.
Severus grimaced while I laughed and walked up to pry Elora's hands off.
"Maybe you should try wearing a man bun." I suggested.
Severus looked disapproving of the idea,
"I'd rather let her pull on my hair more than do that.."
I chuckled at that and thought of what we should do next now that we're finally home,
"Alright. Well, I'd say its about time to sleep, wouldn't you? I'm quite tired and you probably are too."
Severus nodded in agreement and walked upstairs with Elora whilst I grabbed some necessities from the hospital bag. I then walked up into the room myself. The sight I saw was beyond adorable.
Severus was standing there, Elora tucked against his chest, swaying and.. humming. Once Severus' humming came to an end, he decided to place a kiss on top of her head and put her down in the crib to sleep. He peered down at her for a moment and smiled.
I walked up to him slowly and said, just above a whisper,
"My turn."
Severus turned towards me and chuckled at my statement, but complied with my request anyways by placing a kiss on my forehead. I returned the favor before pulling him towards the bed and sitting down with him.
Severus took my hand In his and intertwined our fingers gently,
"(Y/N)."
"Hm?" I responded.
Severus sighed with content and spoke,
"I love you, so much.. And because of you, I now have another person to cherish and care for just as much. Thank you, Love."
His confession brought a few tears to my eyes, which Severus wiped away with a small smile.
"I love you both so much, Sev.." I sniffed lightly as I spoke.
Severus kept his hand on the side of my face and ran his thumb over my cheek comfortingly.
"Here, why don't we rest now." Severus suggested as he pulled me down into a warm embrace under the covers.
I snuggled up into his chest and ran my fingers through his hair as a way to calm myself, which I think Severus liked as well.
And to be quite honest, it didn't take too long for us to fall asleep that night..
