《The Half Lord {Severus Snape x Reader}》Sorting as a first year

You had gotten your letter about a month ago by owl. You had also been shocked that you had been accepted into Hogwarts.
You had all your supplies and you had walked to Hogwarts to join the other first years. Taking glances around you heard hushed conversations between nervous students about what house they'd be placed into.
Being yourself, you weren't worried about what house you'd be in, it just mattered that you were here.
A few students shoved past you and you sneered at their backs. What fools...... you thought They'll be first for detention I'm sure of it... your thoughts were interrupted by an older woman clearing her throat.
"Attention all first years!" she exclaimed. "I am Professor McGonagall. Now, before we enter the Great Hall and get you all sorted I would like to say a few things." she continued. "There are four houses. Griffyndor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin." she seemed to eye a couple of people at the mention of the last house. "When we go in you will stand in the center of the hall until I call your name, then you will sit on the stool and have the sorting hat placed on your head. Come along now." McGonagall ushered all of us inside and I gawked at the sight.
Candles floated all around the room and the ceiling looked like the night sky with clouds slowly passing by. You noticed that there were four tables and each had students sitting at them wearing different colored robes. At the front, there was a table with all the Professors sitting at it and in the middle sat the Headmaster. In front of him sat a stool with a very old and worn looking hat sitting on top of it.
McGonagall now stood next to the stool and was calling names. There were now 3 Griffyndors, 1 Hufflepuff, 2 Ravenclaws, and 5 Slytherin.

You had been thinking to yourself when she called your name. "(f/n) (l/n)." she said.
You made your way to the stool and McGonagall lifted the Sorting Hat over your head and it started talking.
"Ah ha!" You froze, 1: because the sudden noise startled you and 2: you thought he may have found something.
"A wise one she is, isn't afraid to speak her mind, kind towards others, independent. This is a hard one, yes..................................................it'll have to be...............HUFFLEPUFF!"
McGonagall lifted the hat off of your head and you walked over to the Hufflepuff table in shock.
But I thought I would be Slytherin for sure... given my past...
All of your new housemates congratulated you and you sat for the remainder of the ceremony with your mouth ajar, speechless until the food appeared and you started eating.
"Hello, my name is Asher, Asher Turnbull. Pleasure to meet you." he held out his hand and you shook it.
"My name is _____, (f/n) (l/n)." You noticed that he had ginger hair that was a bit scruffy and dark brown eyes and he sounded Irish. ((basically the picture above except he's a first year))
"How's everything so far for ya?" he asked.
"Fine I suppose, I just hope that I don't do anything wrong." you replied with a sigh
Asher gave you a pat on the back. "You'll be fine, just as long as you don't act like you run the place."
"Thanks, Asher."
Right when you said that Professor Dumbledore called for all of the houses to follow their prefects to their common rooms. We stood up from our tables and followed our prefect until we reached a part of the dungeon with some stacked barrels.
Our prefect- Derek Forloke- taught us how to tap on the barrels for the common room entrance to open and we got inside.

"Girls dorms are to the right up those stairs." he paused and pointed. "and boys dorms are to the left."
The majority of the first years went up to their dorms to sort out their belongings but you stayed downstairs on the couch by the fire, talking with Asher. You both had come to Hogwarts not knowing anyone else and you found that you had some of the same interests.
The time for curfew had arrived and you bid him goodnight and went to your dorm to find all of your belongings in their place.
Putting your wand on the nightstand, you covered yourself in your black and yellow comforters and fell into a deep sleep
~In dream~
The man glared at you with hate and rage.
"Do it!" he said, jabbing his finger at a poor mortal child. "Kill it!" he shouted once more.
You remembered this dream...
Glancing at the man as calmly as possible, you said the one word that he dreaded most.
"No."
He growled and smacked you against the wall.
"Insufferable being! After all those other trials you can't kill a single mortal child!?"
You could tell by his tone and facial expressions that he would probably do something horrid if you continued to disobey him.
"I already said. NO." you emphasized your statement by standing taller and puffing your chest out a bit.
The man smacked you once more then grabbed you by the arm.
"You are the only one! If you won't kill it." he sneered at the small mortal boy that must've been only 5 or 6 "Then you will be marked as a traitor! And you will be forced to live in the mortal world. Alone!"
You already knew what would happen next. He dragged you into a room that had a fire being stoked and had numerous metal branders, red hot.
Throwing you down into a chair that had arm and leg restraints ready to magically hold you back if you resisted, he snatched a brander from the fire that had the number 1 on it with a sword and a wing behind it.
The man didn't hesitate and pushed the brander onto your collar bone, marking you for all of time that you were a traitor....
~Dream End~
Waking with a start, you instinctively held your hand where the man from your dream had marked you.
Finally calming yourself down, you swung your legs off the side of your four poster bed and fiddled with your wand.
"Only a dream....." you whispered to the night.

The Complete Alchemyst book 1
You've heard of superheroes, seen them flying across the sky, destroying great swaths of cities and ending countless innocent lives in order to defeat great evils and world-spanning threats and sell lots of sponsorships and merchandising opportunities. This is a story about the guy that is not those heroes. A supervillain in a world where making the right friends and political contacts is what separates the good guys from the bad. The Alchemyst is a story about a normal guy in a crazy world that spends his time trying to follow his dreams and conscience, working on new potions, thinking about girls, and lifting heavy shit, while trying to stay under the radar of the superheroes, supervillains, and governments that want what he can do. And occasionally turning them into makeshift melee weapons. If you enjoy The Boys, the Aberrant roleplaying game, Mystery Men, Trashy romances, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, or SAW you may enjoy this book. Please note that this book has extremely graphic and sometimes gross fight scenes, heroes as villains, villains as heroes, opinionated and often politically incorrect characters, some graphic sex scenes, dad jokes, dirty jokes, realistic depictions of romance and flirting, bondage and dominance themes, and more than a few cuss words when they are really appropriate. This is NOT a superhero genre deconstruction. Many heroes truly are heroes, and they don't all need to be destroyed to make a good story, but it does look into the dark side of superpowers and the unreasonable and often contradictory demands placed on exceptional people.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.
