incident involving tommy and nurse lane, ziggy watched as the cops handled it.

ziggy stood there, with her arms crossed, until she felt a hand grab her arm, turning her around.

"hey, witch." sheila insultingly greeted, with her two goons with her. "so sorry. i know you and nurse psycho were close."

sheila shot ziggy a fake smile. "you can visit her in jail now."

"fuck off, sheila." ziggy shut her down.

sheila still had the smile on her face, and she walked up closer to ziggy.

"by the way," ziggy began. "you might want to check your stuff. i think there was an accident in cabin five."

ziggy glared at sheila and her goons, and quickly started walking away to check on her cabin.

y/n stood next to joan, watching the cops handle the incident like everyone else.

y/n saw in the distance that ziggy was running back to her cabin.

the cops and the ambulance took nurse lane away, with the sirens wailing.

the counselors started ringing the bell, startling y/n

"hey, guys! dinner time!" the counselor shouted.

y/n took one last look at the car driving away, then started walking away.

everyone was wearing their color war shirts, except y/n, tommy, gary, joan, and cindy, who were sitting at a table during dinner.

"she said one way or another, i was gonna die tonight." tommy explained to them, still shaken up.

"spooky!" gary teased as he wiggled his fingers around.

"the kiddos are right." joan agreed. "that's, like, totally witchy behavior."

"it's just, there must be some explanation." cindy spoke up.

"the witch isn't real." y/n added. "there's obviously an explanation, like cindy said."

"like what?" tommy asked the girl.

"well.. maybe.." y/n trailed off, not knowing what to say.

y/n looked over to joan, who was taking drugs, y/n looked down at the drugs.

"maybe she was on something." y/n suggested.

joan scoffed at y/n. "drugs are peaceful, not violent."

"she's not talking about marijuana." cindy furrowed her brows.

"just admit you're jealous the witch wanted your hubby all to herself." gary teased cindy, as he wrapped his arms around tommy.

tommy pushed gary off of him. "be serious, man. why would nurse mary wanna do something like that? why would she want me dead?"

"oh, no, she wouldn't." gary replied, then he looked over at joan.

"but the witch might!" joan and gary joked in unison, with a smile on their faces.

"hey, they're just playing around." cindy assured tommy. "this was nothing, i promise."

"did you see her eyes?" tommy asked cindy. "there was something in there. something wrong."

the conversation was cut off by then hearing a clapping noise, and kurt walking up.

"alright!" kurt shouted, as he stood on a table. "chicks, dicks, listen up!"

"we had a scary situation earlier," kurt began. "but we cannot let that mess with the most important night of our summer. tonight is sunnyvale versus shadyside. it is red versus blue. it is good versus evil."

"tonight, we commencicate color war!" kurt yelled.

gary turned to joan and y/n, in slight annoyance.

"it's 'commence.'" gary corrected quietly. "my god."

"he might be dumb," joan commented as she licked the drugs. "but he's kind of shagadelic."

"he's disgusting." y/n intervened. "you're disgusting."

joan ignored her, continuing to smile at kurt.

"tonight's first event is capture the flag, baby." kurt continued. "now, sunnyvale. we have never, ever.. lost a color war! so let's not let tonight be a stain in our legacy."

"sunnyvale! sunnyvale! sunnyvale!" the sunnyvalers continued to chant in the room.

"let's murder those shadyside witches!" kurt encouraged.

joan got up, and stood next to kurt.

"uh, hi!" joan greeted. "thank you, kurt, for that neat-o speech." joan flirted. "now, shadysiders, let's go out there and do our best, because even if we lose, we're still winners in our hearts."

cindy got up, and started leaving.

the sunnyvalers starting booing joan.

cindy walked into the art room, finding ziggy.

"what are you doing?" cindy asked ziggy.

ziggy spotted cindy, and rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"art project." ziggy replied, not wanting to talk to cindy.

"i need to talk to you." cindy spoke up as she walks closer to ziggy.

"i'm not in the mood." ziggy told her.

"so was mary upset earlier?" cindy asked.

ziggy scoffed. "oh, so now you care!"

"ziggy, this is serious." cindy reminded her.

"yeah, well, it was serious earlier, and you didn't give a shit." ziggy shot back.

ziggy grabbed the can, and the paintbrush, and started walking away.

cindy chased after her. "come on, you were the last person to see her before she snapped. what about drugs? did you see any around?"

"she's a nurse, so yup." ziggy flatly replied as she kept walking.

"well, did she mention anything or-"

"nope."

"ziggy, i'm just.. i'm trying to understand what happened today."

"who cares?" ziggy asked. "it's over."

"not for tommy. he's still freaked out and acting weird and.. it's just a big joke to everyone 'mary was possessed by the witch.'" cindy explained.

"maybe it was the witch." ziggy suggested.

"ziggy!" cindy warned.

"what? that doesn't fit you and y/n's carefully constructed bullshit view of the world?" ziggy harshly asked cindy.

"why are you being like this?" cindy curiously asked.

"oh, i don't know. maybe because nurse lane was the only person who nice to me, and now her life is over because bad things always happen to shadysiders." ziggy explained.

"nothing just happens. there's always a reason." cindy reminded her.

"not always a rational one." ziggy turned around to face cindy, once she reached her cabin. "deep down, you feel it, don't you? shadyside, there's something here. it's just holding us down, cursing us."

"ziggy, that's enough." cindy warned again.

"maybe, you're too scared to admit it." ziggy cut her off. "so when things go bad, you just wanna explain it away."

"i'm sorry. i'm not going to blame everything on some.. some fairy tale." cindy spoke up. "life sucks sometimes. i get that. i mean, god knows it's been hard since.."

"since what?" ziggy eagerly asked. "see, you can't even say it! since dad left. since mom started drinking. since we're going to lose the house. and it's not gonna magically get better. and saving up all summer to buy that super cute polo shirt, can't hide that."

"trying to explain why nice old nurse lane almost lost it today can't either." ziggy added. "we're all cursed. for mary, it was today. but someday, it'll be you. and this whole fake bullshit life of yours, it's gonna come crashing down."

cindy started to tear up at ziggy's words, not knowing what to say.

"that's a horrible thing to say." cindy spoke.

"it's not horrible if it's true." ziggy simply replied.

"i don't know who you are anymore, but... you're not my sister." cindy said.

"then who am i?"

"a monster."

ziggy nodded her head, and opened her cabin door, revealing to cindy what the girls had done.

"that's what they say." ziggy told cindy.

all over the cabin were mean words.

'ziggy is a witch bitch.'

ziggy coldly glared at cindy one last time, then walked into her cabin, slamming the door.
