《Bushes - A Hot Chelle Rae Fanfic (Ryan/OC)》Chapter 24

Maddie has seen the guys perform more times than she could recall and each and every time they were absolutely flawless. But nothing could compare to a sold out international show. The energy that came from their largest crowd ever pushed it beyond their shows back in the states. This was unbelievable. Maddie managed to capture her best pictures yet, which only seemed fitting since it was their best show. She tucked her camera back in her bag, and decided to enjoy the last few songs from their set. Leaning on the barricade at the side of the stage, she had a great view of the guys. The last note of Nothing Left to Hide, their last song on the set, rang out through the arena and Maddie began making her way to backstage in attempt to avoid the crowd .
"We would like to thank everyone for coming tonight!" Ryan's voice rang out through the crowd and the crowd cheered in response. "I can speak for all of us when I say this has been the most fun we have ever had performing. In thanks for that, we'd like to perform just one more, never-before-heard song. Are you guys alright with that?" The crowd cheered even louder, excited screams echoing across the venue. Ryan smiled, took a sip of his water and clutched his guitar closer to him, quietly strumming his guitar as he continued to interact with the crowd.
Maddie stopped in her tracks. A new song? Why hadn't she heard it yet? They always play their new songs for her, most of the time before they're even complete. Confused and extremely curious, Maddie sidetracked to side stage, watching from backstage.
"I wrote this song during a very tough time I was going through and I was struggling with finding the right words to express how I was feeling. So naturally I wrote a song and it goes a lot like this." Maddie bit her lip, surely she knew what this song was going to be about and it was going to be hard to be reminded of the time they weren't together.
The melody was soft, and slow and everyone in that room could already tell it was going to be heartfelt.

"Catch my flight, six am, gonna be gone till who knows when...Gotta let go." The entire room was silent, every single fan was in awe -- Maddie couldn't blame them. She had never heard Ryan's voice so raw and smooth. "Days go by and yeah I've always got you on my mind...I can't touch you but it feels the same, cause I keep you with me."
She was enthralled and falling deeper and deeper in love with Ryan; it was impossible not to. By the time Ryan had finished his song and was offstage, Maddie's lips were glued to his. He gently set his guitar down and pulled her in closer, breathing her in. She kissed him hard, not caring his brother and bandmates were next to them; she just became lost in him.

"Why did you never tell me about Keep You With Me?" Maddie asked, later that night. They had gone out with the band and crew, celebrating a successful first show and this was the first chance she's had to ask him about it. The two of them were now back in the hotel, lying in bed together, completely exhausted from the show and the activities afterwards.
"I'm not sure, actually." Ryan paused, running his hand up and down her bare back. "The time never seemed right, I guess. And that was a tough time for our relationship, it isn't an easy thing to bring up."
Maddie lifted her head from his chest and looked up at him, smiling. "I get that. It's a beautiful song though, Ry. I loved it."
He returned her smile, almost relieved. "I'm glad. That one took me a long time."
"Well I can understand why, it's perfect."
Ryan couldn't help but roll his eyes at her before pressing his lips against hers once more. "And you're biased." She just smiled in response, and connected their lips once more. Their kiss didn't stay innocent long as Ryan rolled over so she was on her back, and he was hovering over -- and just like that, they were lost in each other once again.

"Wow, I'm surprised you two made it down here to checkout on time," Nash remarked. It was just after six in the morning and they had to get on the bus and leave early if they wanted to make it to Seville on time for their next show.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Maddie retorted, dragging her suitcase to the front desk.
"Yeah, Nash you were the one who was out partying until three this morning," Jamie added smirking. He'd take any opportunity to give Nash shit, especially when it came to his partying habits.
"Oh, don't act like you didn't hear those two last night, Jamie. It was impossible not to," Nash teased. With that, Maddie's face immediately turned a deep red. That wasn't where she thought the conversation was going. "I mean the walls were thick, but not that thick."
"Okay Nash, that's still my brother you're talking about...we get it." Maddie's face wasn't the only one that was turning red at this point. Nash winked at the two of them with a smug look on his face before joining Ian out on the bus -- he's always been the punctual one out of the four.
"How are you not embarrassed?" Maddie asked turning to Ryan.
He smirked, and leaned in close to her ear before whispering, "Maybe it's because I'm not the one they were hearing last night." Maddie just rolled her eyes and hit his chest, joining the others on the bus.
"Alright guys," Jason said, standing at the front of the bus. "Madrid to Seville is a five hour bus ride, which I know sounds long, but we will be making a stop in Toledo for an hour or so, and this is a little over an hour away. There's an interview at a radio station they want you to do at four, and then your show is at seven. So we have a busy day ahead of us. Get some rest if you can."
Maddie sat at the table in the kitchen, nursing her big mug of coffee while watching the beautiful city pass by. Ryan and Nash were watching a movie while Ian slept. "What are you thinking so hard about?" Jamie asked, sitting down across from her. She smiled at him, and looked back out the window.
"I was just thinking about college, and if I'm making a mistake by not going."
Jamie's brow furrowed. "You mean you regret coming on tour with us?"
"No, not at all! I mean when the tour is done, then what am I going to? I don't want to just ride along on your guys' adventure and success. Part of me wants to create my own success," She sighed, taking a drink of her coffee, while attempting to organize her thoughts. "We're only two days in, and this has been amazing. I just don't want to regret not going to school. I could be a lawyer, a doctor, or really anything, you know?"
Jamie smiled, understanding what she was saying. "I get what you mean. Now you want to go, but on your own terms, not your parents. Maybe apply to a few colleges when we get back home and see what happens. It won't hurt anything. And honestly, I'm sure Nash could end up using a lawyer like you someday, considering the kind of shit he gets himself into." Maddie couldn't help but laugh at that, because that was very true.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll talk to Ryan about it. Like I said, I want to create my own success, instead of just living off my boyfriend's."
"Then it sounds like you made up your mind," Jamie responded.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
