《Bushes - A Hot Chelle Rae Fanfic (Ryan/OC)》Chapter 15

"Hey babe!" Maddie said smiling at Ryan as soon as he came on the bus. She walked over to him and pressed a kiss on to his cheek bone. "What's wrong?" She asked, noticing something off in his expression and posture.
"We need to talk." He replied, leading her to the bunks, where none of the other guys were.
"What's going on?" She asked nervously, because let's face it, nothing good ever comes from 'we need to talk'. Those four words are like poison when it comes to relationships.
"I think you should go home." He said quickly, afraid that if he didn't say it right away, he never would.
"Wh-what?"
"Let's face it, Maddie, it's not good for you to be here. You need to go home."
"If this is about my parents.." She started, but Ryan cut her off.
"It isn't about them! It's about us. You don't belong here." He said quietly, ignoring the stinging in his eyes. He hated himself for having to do this, but in the long run, it's the right thing to do.
"My dad talked to you, didn't he?" God, I knew he would show up."
"Your dad didn't come here; this is all coming from me. You deserve so much more than this. Please, just listen to me, and go home."
She shook her head, not having any of it. "This is my home. When I'm with you, I'm home. I feel happy and safe, and...and I just don't feel that way with my parents."
"You should be with your family. It's because of me you lost contact with them, and that's not fair."
"You aren't listening to me, Ryan! You and the rest of the band are my family, not my parents. They don't really care about me. If they did, I would've heard from them by now, but I haven't." She wiped away a tear and moved closer to him, grabbing his hands. "Please, just listen to me."

At that moment, Ryan wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around her and comfort her - but he couldn't. He really hated to be the bad guy and break her heart; but if that's what he had to do, then so be it.
Stepping away and removing his hands from hers, he shook his head, trying to ignore the look of hurt that flashed across her face. "No, you need to listen to me. Things aren't working out for us."
"I don't believe you," she weakly replied, voice cracking from trying to keep her composure. "How do I know my dad didn't talk to you?"
"What can I say, Maddie to make you believe me?!" His voice began to rise, out of frustration because of this whole ordeal. "I don't love you anymore, okay?"
That was it. Those were the five words that needed to be said to prove all of his words to be true. She stepped away from him, tears streaming down her face.
"So that's it? Just like that, everything we had has suddenly just disappeared?"
"Yeah," he whispered. "Just like that." Not being able to bear the heartbroken look on her face, he left her standing there, feeling completely and utterly alone.
Maddie let out a choked sob, trying to hold everything in, which only made it worse. She grabbed her duffel bag and quickly threw all of her belongings into it, not wasting any time. Grabbing her phone, she left the bus as quick as possible and made her way over to the street, calling over a taxi.
"Maddie, wait!" Jamie yelled running after her. "You forgot your camera," he said quietly, handing it to her.
"Thanks, Jamie," she replied, wiping away some stray tears. He looked at her for a minute before wrapping her in a hug, saying his silent good-bye.

"Can I ask what happened?"
"Just ask your brother." She responded grimly, pulling away and throwing her bag in the taxi before attempting to give him a smile, which only turned out to be a grimace. "I'll miss you," she added before getting in the taxi and shutting the door. Jamie watched the tail lights disappear down the road, confused as to what had just happened.

As soon as the taxi was out of sight, the reality of what happened hit Ryan. He looked down at his lyric notebook, surprised to see he had written an entire verse and half a chorus in the time since Maddie left. Music is the one and only thing that could make him feel a bit better and calm down. His best songs were created when he had a lot on his mind. So naturally, after a day like today he was back at it again.
For making the "right" decision, he sure did feel a lot like shit. Aren't you supposed to at least feel a little bit better for doing the right thing? But in Ryan's case, it wasn't like that - at all. And because of that he couldn't help but shake the feeling that he made the wrong decision. However it was much too late to do anything about it.
