《Bushes - A Hot Chelle Rae Fanfic (Ryan/OC)》Chapter 9

"I think everything sounds good." Ryan said into the microphone. They wrapped up sound check and the guys headed back to the bus. As they got on, Ryan noticed Maddie wasn't back yet. That's weird, the photography shop was only a few blocks away. He checked the bunks to make sure she wasn't sleeping -which she wasn't- and made his way back to the front lounge where the other guys were.
"Maddie isn't back yet?" Jamie asked with a frown. Ryan shook his head in response and joined him on the couch. Suddenly he got a bad feeling and knew something wasn't right. Reaching in his pocket he pulled out his phone and dialed the number he knew by heart. It rang once before it went to voice mail. Yeah, something definitely wasn't right.

After walking around for awhile, Maddie decided to stop at a Starbucks and get a coffee. She wasn't ready to face Ryan yet. What was she going to say? She sat down with her drink, attempting to clear the jumbled mess in her head. She rested her head in her hands, a strong headache was beginning to form. She always gets headaches when she's stressed.
Her thoughts, however, were interrupted when her phone started going off. She took one look at the name and rejected it. It would be a lot better to talk to Ryan in person.
Maddie stayed out for another hour, just walking around, thinking things through. That's when she realized what she was going to do. And she wasn't going to like it one bit, and Ryan as sure as hell wouldn't either. Glancing at her phone, she realized their show is about over and started to make her way back to the bus.
She took a deep breath to steady herself before opening the door and climbed on the bus.

"Hey, you're back!" Nash yelled with a grin. "We thought you got lost."
"Nope, I just walked around and got a coffee." She replied before heading back to the bunks.
When she got back there, she dug around until she found her duffel bag and started to throw all of her belongings in there. Yes, she was going back. It was the only thing to do now.
"What are you doing?" Maddie jumped at the sound of Jamie's voice behind her. "Are you leaving?"
"I'm sorry Jamie, but I have to."
"Why?" He asked quietly, a hurt expression on his face.
"Because he fucking cheated, Jamie." Her voice caught in her throat and she blinked away the tears that were threatening to spill out of her eyes.
"What are you talking about? Ryan would never do that!"
"What would I never do?" They both spun around to face Ryan who by the looks of it, just got out of the shower. "Hey," He said grinning at Maddie, but that smile left his face as soon as it came, for he spotted the duffel bag in her hand.
"What's going on?" He asked nervously.
"Ryan, we need to talk."
"Okay," He said quietly sitting down on one of the beds, Maddie following suit.
"I know about Cassie." She said after a few seconds.
"Who?" He asked, genuinely confused.
"Cassie. Your ex girlfriend. She works at the photography shop I went to today and she told me about you broke up with her a month ago. A month ago. That's while we were together. What the hell, Ryan?"
"Cassie, as in his stalker, Cassie?" Jamie asked. The other two both jumped not realizing he was still standing there. "You never told Maddie about your stalker?"

"...stalker?" She asked confused. No, Ryan never mentioned a stalker.
"Yeah, this girl - Cassie went to one of our shows last month and tried to sneak onto the tour bus. Luckily security caught her before she actually got on. Then, she started showing up everywhere we went. She threw herself at me, but I told her I had a girlfriend," He paused, grabbing Maddie's hand, and giving it a squeeze. "After that she went crazy. She slashed our bus tires, snuck backstage, and then I filed a restraining order against her. Maddie, I would never cheat on you." He brushed a tear away from her cheek with his thumb.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"That was when you were taking all your finals, I didn't want to distract you. Then I was going to tell you next time I visited you, but we only had one night together, and I didn't want to spoil it by talking about her. I know that I should have told you, and I'm really sorry." He finished, reading her facial expressions. He bit his lip as he waited for her to say something.
"J-just tell me next time, ok? I don't want to find out like that again."
"Of course," He whispered, pulling her to his side and pressing his lips to her temple. "I love you more than anything, and I mean it when I say that."

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.
