《The Academy 3》28

We were walking through the pathway while speaking. Tridi wanted to go to the gardens to relax. My friends were telling me about their French trip and what they got. Yaz then asked about my trip to NC. I told them the trip was amazing and this is the best that Nic and I have ever been. It was like we were on the same page. Nic and I spoke about our insecurities and anything weighing us down. It was freeing to know that I wasn't holding any secrets from her. Well, I forgot I was sort of holding a secret from her.
"What about Eric?" Yaz asked.
"What about him?" I was confused.
"Uh... you're engaged." Tridi commented.
"Oh, I totally forgot about that." I scratched my head.
"Only a McAllister would forget something like that." Yaz rolled her eyes.
"Did you speak to Nic about it?" Tridi wondered.
"No because like I said... I totally forgot I was engaged. I'll break it off right away." I began texting my dad to call off the engagement.
"She knows, right?" Yaz wondered.
"I assume she does since I posted it on my socials." I shrugged. "People probably think I have commitment issues since this is the second engagement I'm breaking off." My friends laughed with me.
Yaz was telling me about this guy she started seeing. From what she was saying, the relationship looked promising. She was even open to us meeting the mystery man. As I was informing her of the stern talking the guy would be receiving, Tridi grabbed our arms. We looked at her in confusion.
"Is that Nic?" She pointed ahead.
Yaz and my eyes followed Tridi' finger. I stiffened when I saw Nic kissing Skye. Before, I'd be heartbroken and runaway, but that was in the past. The new me would talk to Nic before forming conclusions. My brows furrowed as I observed them more. It looked like Nic was struggling against Skye. I saw Nic trying to push Skye away, but she wasn't strong enough. I then saw Nic squeeze her eyes shut, like she was begging for the situations to be over.

My friends turned when they could feel the steam radiating off me. I only saw red. I was going to kill her for assaulting my girlfriend. When Skye released Nic, I saw my girlfriend look over her shoulder. Her eyes widened in fear at seeing me.
I marched up to them and ripped Skye off my girlfriend. Nic began explaining that Skye kissed her, but she didn't kiss back. I assured my girl that I believed her and that Skye would be the only one receiving my wrath.
I admit that Skye's words wounded me. I only wanted to give Nic a normal, happy life. Even though Skye was a princess, I knew she'd be able to give Nic a more normal life than I ever could. Nic had grabbed my face to tell me that she only wanted me. It warmed my heart to know that she was just as in love with me. I was madly in love with her and it seemed she felt the same way.
I smirked at seeing Skye huff away. Tridi's comments made me laugh since I knew she loved Monaco. It's not like we could never go there again. We just wouldn't be socializing with Skye ever again. I chuckled and told my friends that I was taking Nic on an impromptu date. They waved goodbye while Nic was confused. She kept begging for me to reveal the secret location.
I took Nic to a private dance class for a date. She was so excited to be doing the tango with me. She kept laughing the entire time. It made me happy knowing that she was enjoying herself. I twirled her and dipped her. Nic kept begging for me to kiss her. I rolled my eyes before satiating her request.

I was comfortably sleeping with Nic in my arms. Her naked skin was soft under my embrace. I snuggled deeper into her. I never want to let this woman go. She turned to me with a smile. She moved up to kiss me, resulting in the sheets falling. I smiled as she positioned her naked body on top of me.

I moved my hands to grip her waist. I brought my thigh up to create friction between her thighs. She moaned at the contact. I moved my kisses up her neck. We were engaged in a heated make out when my door was slammed open.
Nic squealed and threw the covers over her head. She then hugged my side. I glared at my sisters. They were completely unfazed by what they just witnessed. I was about to yell at them, but their faces were somber. Not like someone died somber, but upset/ pitying someone somber. Zara ignored Nic's naked body and pulled the covers off her face. Nic tried to pull them back up, but Zara's harsh look kept her still.
Tamzi sighed before unlocking her phone. She then held it out for us to read. Nic and my eyes bulged at the headline:
"Fuck."

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
