"See you guys soon." I waved at Rue and Logan.
I ended the call and tossed my phone onto the bed. I smiled, knowing that I'd be seeing my friends over the weekend. Just a few more days until Spring Break! I can't wait because I need a break from all this Alicia drama.
I had informed my two friends of what's been going on. Rue was about to go crazy from my relationship roller coaster. Logan thought of it as more of a soap opera. They were perplexed by Skye's interest in me and believed she was just using me to get back at Alicia. I thought so as well, but Skye is more elusive than she lets on.
"Nic!" Rosé tackled. "How was your date?" She beamed.
"Great." I groaned.
"You're too fragile!" She laughed and rolled off me. "Tell me everything!"
She yanked me up and pushed me onto the bed. Rosé then jumped next to me and gave me her undivided attention. I chuckled before retelling the events. Her expression was funny to watch as I told her about the date. She'd smiled and then frown and then smile again, only to frown.
"Dang, she's hard to get a read on. She's so hot and cold." Rosé groaned and flopped onto her back.
"I know!" I laid next to her. "She's so annoying at times."I crossed my arms. "So was this positive or negative?" I rolled onto my side.
"Umm... neutral?" She rolled so that she was looking at me. "I have no idea." She thought for a moment. "I'd normally say ask her friends, but..."
"Ya, I don't even think they know-"
"What's with her having a fiancé?!"
"Ugh!" I loudly groaned. "Don't remind me of that douche." I huffed. "He is so rude by the way, but then again... I did push him away and kiss her in front of him-"

"Wait! What?!" Rosé jumped up. "You didn't tell me this!" She began hitting me. "Tell me everything!" She whined.
"Alright! Alright." I raised my hands in defense.
Rosé laughed when I told her how I got drunk at Alicia's birthday party. It wasn't my fault that she infuriated me to the point that I had to drink. And then I was a little upset to see Eric being handsy with her. I was just asserting my dominance by shoving him away so that I could make out with her. Rosé was surprised that Alicia had me stay in her room. She assumed that I would've been taken to a guest room. Because of that, she claimed that Alicia still loved me.
Rosé nearly flipped a shit when I began telling her about Alicia's dad. She kept hitting me and complaining that I haven't been keeping her up to date. I laughed and tickled Rosé into submission. I then told her about how Hans (she died when I told her that he told me to call him by his first name) wanted me to pursue his daughter. She instantly became a Hans fan.
Rosé was loudly clapping when I told her I met Alicia's paternal grandparents. She found it funny that I didn't know what croquet was. When I glared at her, she admitted that she found out what croquet was a few months ago.
I asked her about Solar, but she scoffed. Her and Solar are giving each other the cold shoulder. Solar was angry that Rose caused a scene and attempted to assault Tamsin while Rosé was livid that Solar could be friends with someone like Tamsin. I tried telling Rosé that Tamsin didn't go to the registrar, but she just waved me off. She said that even if Tamsin didn't push to get my scholarship revoked, she's done terrible things to me. She pointed out that Tamsin had Rohan try to rape me as well as blackmailed Willa into seducing me.

Well, I couldn't really argue with her valid points. I still took responsibility for cheating on Alicia since I did kiss Willa back. Rosé said I was still wrong, but it wouldn't have happened if Tamsin didn't pull the strings. Rosé and our other friends never forgave Tamsin for what she's done, especially since she's never apologized.
Rosé's jaw dropped when I told her that Alicia didn't know Tamsin blackmailed Willa. She kept hitting me with a pillow. I tried to explain that I didn't want to cause a rift between her and her sister. Rosé said it was time for Tamsin to die. I had to grab and pull her back on the bed. This girl was really about to go and skin her alive.
"Rosé, you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone." I begged her.
"But, she's-"
"Please, Rosé." I gave her my puppy dog eyes.
"Fine." She huffed. "I'll keep it between us." She jumped back on the bed. "But I still don't like her."
"I know, you big baby. I know." I hugged her.

But the past has a way of rising again. A newborn whose very existence could mean intergalactic war. Now Brenn must balance her wife’s delicate mental health, new motherhood, and her own complicated feelings while working with her Captain and their odd bunch of friends and allies to protect her tiny family from a small, but influential group within the Aesir government who will stop at nothing to take back Brenn’s wife and child. All the while, there are whispers of a greater and more ancient power coming to life. A power Brenn’s wife knows more about than she wants to let on. It’s a good thing Brenn is used to fighting. CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
