《The Academy 3》3

The past week has been weird. The McAllister sisters love me so much (all but one) that they keep inviting me over. It's incredibly awkward when we play a game or watch a movie and I'm partnered with Alicia. She has basically been ignoring my existence, except when I'm over her house. She puts on a performance so that her sisters don't suspect a thing. It hurts me more knowing that she thinks of this as a performance rather than being genuine with me. The moment it's time to leave, she dismisses me and tasks one of her sisters to drive me home.

Her sisters suspected something, but didn't comment. Gemma or Zara ( I know right!) would offer to drop me off. Yasmine acted the same around me. The only one who was a little distant was Astrid. I'm assuming she knew since she'd just stay quiet and plaster on a fake smile. Whenever we'd lock eyes, she gives me a sad smile before looking away.

I don't know why Ali only told a select few. Yes, select few. Her dad acted weird around me, meaning he definitely knew. Her mother was the same, so she clearly has no idea. I wanted to ask Ali about it, but she had no interest in speaking with me.

I'd often surprise her when she was around her friends. She'd act fake so they didn't suspect anything. She'd then apologize for having to run to class, which we both knew was a lie. I was becoming desperate. Even my friends were trying to help me speak with her.

"Ali, wait!" I grabbed her hand. She harshly ripped her hand free from my grasp.

"Don't ever touch me again." Her tone was low.

"Or what? You'll cut me off financially and kick me out the school?!" Onlookers were staring at us. "Huh?!"

"Quiet down. You're drawing a crowd." She spoke in a warning whisper.

"Why? Scared this'll be too public?" I crossed my arms.

"I'd rather not fight with you in public." She calmly spoke.

"You're driving me crazy, Alicia."

"And you're not faring any better." She countered.

"What's going on?" Tamsin wanted to diffuse the situation. She glared at the crowd, but they didn't leave.

"What's going on is that Alicia and I aren't dating anymore." Gasps resounded through the hall. Alicia looked about ready to murder me. "Enough with the lies and secrets. The cats out of the bag, Alicia." I mocked her.

"You're playing with fire." She stepped close to me.

"Damn right, ice Queen. I'm about to burn you before you have a chance to freeze me." I locked eyes with her as I spoke.

"Woah! Calm down." Tamsin pushed us a part. "You, walk away." She pointed at me. "And you, come with me." She grabbed Alicia's arm and led her away.

"Well, at least you spoke to her." KJ appeared at my side.

"That's not how I wanted it to go." I breathed out.

"What? With you threatening to burn her?" Hyde swung an arm around me. "Badass by the way." She nudged me.

"Badass, but incredibly immature and volatile." Taylor and Hailey appeared. "Did you seriously have to cause a scene?" We walked outside.

"I didn't mean to. She just makes me so angry sometimes." I was beyond frustrated.

"But, you're the one who broke up with her." Shawn and Justin walked up to us. "She does have a right to be pissed. This is the second time." Shawn nudged Justin, but agreed with him.

"I just wish I didn't cause a scene in the middle of the hallway. Now, she truly hates me." I groaned. My friends didn't even try to dissuade my thoughts.

The rest of the day consisted of me attending class. I didn't see Alicia in my math class since she obviously skipped with Tamsin. Zara was in our history class, but spoke minimally to me. Ugh! Now, she's angry at me.

"What happened between you and my sister?" She pried. "I won't ask again."

"She's convinced I was cheating on her with Skye and I'm convinced she's embarrassed by me and that's why she'd never publicize our relationship. Happy?!" I snapped.

"Ecstatic." She smiled and went back to her work.

"Do you always have to be such an ass?!" The class got quiet.

"That depends. Must you always be so insecure?" She countered.

"When having to deal with your family, it's a given." I packed up my books. "Ask Ryder how he's doing?" That earned me a glare from her, but I didn't care. I walked out the room, ignoring the teacher's protests.
