《The Academy 2》22

Well, my grandmother had to be high maintenance. She wanted to watch the Swan Lake show, but it was not showing in Boston. Because of that, we found our asses on a plane to New York.

The last thing I wanted to do was sit through a 2hr silent show about a tragic love. I just wanted to be with my great love and wrap my arms around her. A smile fell upon my face as I thought about Lala. Zara nudged me to wipe the stupid look off my face. I rolled my eyes and flipped her off.

My grandmother, in her flashy form, showed up in an outfit that cost more than some houses. She air kissed all of us so as to not ruin her makeup. Truth be told, she needed that makeup desperately so I wouldn't mess it up. She linked arms with Tamsin and walked inside. Tamsin always gets along with the pretentious people.

Gemma latched onto my mother's arm and walked with her. Zara and I each took my father's arm and walked inside. The usher escorted us to the balcony seats. We sat down and ordered some food. My dad then handed us each binoculars.

I took mine and held it up so it'd look like I was watching. Zara and I were the only ones not watching and wishing we were anywhere but here. I saw Zara place her phone to the side as she texted Ryder. She was complaining about how bored she was. Ryder told her to say she was sick and needed to go home. He would then swing by and take her on an impromptu date. She smiled at his message, but let him know she was in New York.

"My favorite part is when she dies." I whispered to Zara.

"How long until then?"

"2 hours and 15 minutes." She groaned. "And that's without intermissions." She groaned even louder, causing my grandmother and mother to shoot her a harsh glare.

"Why must we watch this show over and over again?" I ate a piece of chicken.

"Because granny dearest likes old fashion tradition. Meaning she doesn't accept change and won't consider watching something other than a dance she's seen a thousand times." Zara harshly cut her lamb. "Can you pretend to vomit so we can leave?"

"And risk granny dearest being upset?" I gasped. "I could never."

"She would just tell me to shut up if I began choking." I giggled with Zara.

I think I managed to master the art of sleeping while sitting up. I woke from the audience clapping. I quickly joined in. My grandmother and Tamsin wiped tears from their eyes. How do they conjure up fake tears?

We moved to a private room since my grandmother wanted to chat with us a little longer. I had to suppress my urge to groan. My grandmother sat between Tamsin and my mother. I took a seat next to Gemma while Zara sat next to my dad.

"I'm so happy to see my beautiful granddaughters." She faked a smile. I'm surprised she chose to speak in English rather than French.

"We're so happy to see you." Tamsin hugged her. "We missed you so much."

"We really did!" Gemma spoke up.

"Ya." Zara said devoid of emotion.

"Yep." I matched Z's tone.

"What have you been up to? I know you were in France recently." She looked at us. "But, I was surprised by your guest." She directed her comment at me. "Who's that girl?" My mother sent me a look that told me I better not reveal my relationship. Yep, my grandmother was homophobic. I'm pretty sure that's not surprising.

"A friend." I took a sip of tea.

"A friend that's not Yasmine or Astrid. Didn't know you had others." She chuckled, but I was far from amused. "She must be really special if Skye even spoke with her." I raised a brow. "There were pictures circulating online. Some claim she's her lover." She said with disgust.

"That's news to me." I hummed. I don't read the tabloids, so I had no idea what they were claiming between Skye and Nic.

"Why would people think that she's with Nicola?" Gemma received daggers from Tamsin and my mother.

"Nicola... that's the girl's name? What's her last name?" My grandmother asked. "I've never heard of an heiress named Nicola."

"You're correct." I continued sipping my tea. "She's American." I finally relented after seeing the harsh gaze of my grandmother. "Why so interested?"

"Can I not wonder who my granddaughter keeps as company?" She lifted a brow. "I also need to filter out any immoral people from your inner circle... is she a dyke?" She bitterly spat.

"Just like your granddaughter, so can we give this a rest and go home!" Zara raised her voice in annoyance. "I was supposed to meet up with Ryder today, but this surprise visit caused me to cancel my plans!" Tamsin and my mother's eyes widened in shock at Zara's outburst.

"W-WHAT?!"

"I'm dating Nicola. That's why she was there with me. She was my date." I stood up. "I'm killing you." I turned to Zara.

"You will be going to conversion therapy!" I rolled my eyes. Here we go again. "I don't care!" She ignored Tamsin. "This is vile and disgusting! You will be cured!" I kept staring daggers at Zara who only rolled her eyes. "I want to throw up at the thought that your lips have touched another woman's."

"And those aren't the only lips of hers I touched." I hissed. My grandmother stood up and slapped me. The waiters in the room were awkwardly looking. I even saw one with a camera out. Welp, this is going to be a PR nightmare. "Don't you d-"

"I'M GAY TOO!" We turned to Gemma. "Chico is my beard!" My sisters and I looked at her in utter confusion.

"She'll also be sent to therapy! How could you allow this under your roof?!" She roared at my mother.

My mother's head lowered in shame, but not before glaring at me with hatred. Ugh! This is so annoying. Why can't Zara control her emotions?! She desperately needs to get laid.

My grandmother wouldn't stop until my parents agreed to therapy for my sister and I. My parents said they couldn't send us tomorrow since Gemma and Tamsin had an interview. They promised to send us away right after. My grandmother stood up, slapped me another time, and then grabbed her purse in a haste to leave.

"You are dead to me." My mother spat before leaving.

Tamsin chased after my mother and grandmother. Gemma was biting her nails in a panic, prompting Zara to wrap her arms around the petrified girl. My father stood and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. I'm so going to kill Zara.
