《The Academy 2》12

Zara and I were able to dodge my mother the next day by claiming that our flight left an hour later. We ignored her calls, and by her numerous voicemails, she was pissed. Our mother wanted to speak to us with our partners, but how could she do that if we had left?
Tamsin shook her head in disapproval, but didn't utter a word. Laurens offered to take her shopping once we got home, which seemed to brighten her day. Gemma was too engrossed in Chico to pay us any attention. I did notice Zara asking for Ryder's opinion on some of the figure skating outfits. He was more than happy to give his input on which ones would make her look extra sexy. She hit him upside the head, but kept his opinion in the back of her mind.
Nic was virtually on top of me as she slept. My hands were wrapped protectively around her frame as she used my shoulder and neck as a pillow. I softly ran my hand through her hair. It was so so soft. I always loved how silky her chocolate brown hair was.
My sisters and I weren't able to rest since we had files that needed to be looked over. As usual, I had the most work. My dad placed all his faith in me, which resulted in me having the most responsibility. I guess I should be annoyed, but I'm used to it. I skimmed through the files, memorizing important facts that stood out to me. I will need to advise my dad to revise a new contract with a particular company since their shares are down.
We arrived back in Boston in the dead of night. I decided to take Nic home with me since she was just too cute to wake. Tamsin rolled her eyes as I carried Lala into my room. I gently laid her down and pulled the covers up. As much as I want to cuddle her, I had to finish reading through the files since I have a meeting in the afternoon.

At around 5am, I finished up and climbed into bed. I have to get up in a couple of hours, but I think I should at least rest my eyes for a little.
Nic groaned when the alarm went off. I chuckled as she tried to get rid of the source without opening her eyes. When she finally relented, she looked around in confusion.
"As much as I want to spend the rest of the day in bed with you, we need to get to school, love. I'm gonna go shower... you're more than welcome to join me." I smirked at the end. Nic wasted no time in jumping out the bed and yanking me into the bathroom.
After we finished freshening up... and other things... we went downstairs. The chef had our meals ready as usual. My sisters must've told him about Nic since an extra plate was prepared. I'm just thankful that my parents had to fly to another business meeting; thus, my mother would be delayed her opportunity of scaring the shit out of Nic.
Nic slowly walked to the barstool. I may have been a little rough this morning... just maybe ;)
"Looking a little wobbly there Nic... did you get railed or pounded recently?" Nic feverishly blushed at Zara's statement. "You know that song 'put your head on my shoulder'?" My sisters nodded at her question. "I feel like Ali is more like put your legs on my shoulders." She squealed when I used the faucet from the sink to drench her. "Now, I have to find a new outfit!" She was furious.
"Really? Why?" I cocked my head to the side in confusion. "Also, someone's looking a little wet this morning. Did Ryder stay over? Oh, and did he get his name because you ryde him into oblivion?" I rested my face in my hand. "Looks like you're a ryder. And here I thought Gem was the only equestrian in the family" I smirked at Z's red face.

Zara and I glared at each other while Gemma broke out into fits of laughter. Tamsin was not amused at our inappropriateness around the table. I told Tamsin to buzz off and get railed by Laurens since that would most definitely improve her sour mood. Then again, I wonder if Tamsin would be doing the railing since she's the dom in that relationship. As you can guess, she wasn't amused.
When I got to school, Yaz and Tridi flanked my sides. Astrid was complaining about one of her tests. Yaz and I tuned her out until she mentioned a guy that she liked. She had our attention now, but she refused to spill the deets. Astrid is hot, so I'm curious which guy caught her eye.
I waved across the hall to Lala. She smiled widely and gave me an enthusiastic wave. Rosé saw me and gave me a wave that rivaled Nic's enthusiasm.
"Are you inviting her to the party this week?" Yaz asked.
"It isn't a party. It's an intimate get together for our business colleagues." I paused. "I'm not sure if I should or not. It'll be incredibly boring."
"I'd give her the option. Plus, Yaz and I will be there to entertain her when you're ultimately dragged away." Astrid leaned against the wall.
I didn't have time to debate since Nic walked over with Rosé. We smiled and stared at each other until Astrid shook me.
"Right...uh there's an event that my family is holding this weekend. Would you like to attend?"
"Didn't we just go to a party a couple of days ago? How many parties do you attend?" Her eyes widened.
"Too many." Yaz answered. "That's why we're constantly shopping for outfits. It's absolutely exhausting." She dramatically sighed.
"There are multiple functions a week, but we don't have to go to all of them. Some are more important than others, so we have to attend those. Although, it's kind of hard to avoid attending the event that is held at your house." I rolled my eyes.
"Oh my God!" Rosé shook Nic. "You HAVE to go! Parties held at their house are rumored to be amazing! Over the top decorations! Apparently, they had a golden sculpture of some sea animal made! You have to go and are so lucky that you're always over there! Practically, anyone would die to see the interior of their house." She dreamily stated.
"It was a golden ibis actually. And thank you for the compliment." Rosé beamed. "I unfortunately cannot extend the invitation to you since it's a private affair... however, my friends and I are having a sleepover this weekend and would be happy if you attended." Rosé looked like she was about to faint from excitement.
"I'll definitely be there! I don't care if Nic is there or not. I need to go and brag to the others that I'll be seeing the inside of the McAllister Manor!" Rosé took off to jump on Hailey and Taylor.
"How come the inside of your house is so mysterious? Can't people like google it or something?" Lala tilted her head in confusion.
"Normally, you can get an idea, but everything about my family is super private. You can barely even find an aerial shot online. We also don't invite many over. People who aren't close friends of ours have to give us their phones and sign NDAs. It's a whole ordeal." She rolled her eyes at how extra my family is. "Anyways, can you come?" I nervously asked.
"To which one?"
"Yes." I smirked and walked to my class since the warning bell rang.

Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).
