《Lotus |1| The Umbrella Academy》Four

Chapter Four:
They were sitting in a large office, a man in a lab coat sat behind a desk as he gave each of them an odd look.
Klaus sat on the end, wearing a suit that was far to big for him, it hung off his thin frame. Five sat on the other side of him, in the middle, while Lotus on the other end.
The drive there had been odd. Five drove like a manic and she was surprised no police officers pulled him to over to investigate why a kid was driving a car. Half way through the drive, Klaus grabbed ahold of Lotus' hair and began to braid it.
"What are you doing?" She had questioned him looking at him through the mirror. He only laughed, and shrugged "What can I tell ya? I like to braid."
Five told her to drop the conversation as Klaus wouldn't be making sense any time soon and that it was a waste of time.
Now they sat in silence across from a very bored looking man who just took turns staring at the group across from him.
"Like I said to your son earlier, any information about the prosthetics we build is strictly confidential." The man explained looking between Klaus and Five, "Without the clients consent, I simply can't help you."
Five stood up at that, he placed his hands on the desk and glared at the Doctor, "Well, we can't get consent if you don't give us a name."
"Well that's not my problem."
Lotus huffed standing up as well, she leaned over the desk and matched Five's stance but reached her arm out attempting to get ahold of the man.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Not now." Five whispered.
She rolled her eyes and sat back down.
"Now, there's nothing really more I can do so—"
"What about my consent?"
Everyone looked to Klaus who was now sitting straight up, staring deeply at the man.
"Excuse me?"
Klaus stood up, leaning against the desk while Five took a step back, Lotus had the sense to inch back as well.
"Who gave you permission?" He raised his voice, chocking out what sounded like sobs, "To lay your hands on my son?"
"What?" Both the Doctor and Five said, both paying him all their attention.
"You heard me!" He yelled slamming his fists onto the desk.
"I didn't touch your son-"
"Oh really, so how did he get that swollen lip then?"
The man shifted in his seat, "He doesn't have swollen lip."

Klaus raised his hand and gave Five a slap right across the face, the boy stumbled and held a finger to his lip. Lotus jumped out of her seat with a laugh, taking another step back with the glare Five gave her.
"You're all insane."
Klaus chuckled widely, "You have no idea."
Lotus walked back up to Five and tapped on his shoulder, "You realize there was an easier way to find whatever you are looking for?"
"We don't know where the information is kept. The easier way would've never worked." He told her, "The easy way never works, anyways."
They were snapped from their brief conversation from the sound of glass shattering. Lotus stared in wonder as Klaus smashed a snow globe against his head. A trickle of blood ran from his forehead as the Doctor watched in horror.
"God, that hurt!" He yelled watching as the doctor picked up his phone, dialling a number just in time for Klaus to steal it from his hands. He groaned loudly in pain, "There's been an assault in Mr Big's office! And we need security, now."
Five had a smile dancing on his face as he watched, Klaus hung up the phone and sighed. "Now here's what's gonna happen, Grant."
"It's Lance."
Klaus waved him off, "In about 60 seconds two security guards are going to walk in here and see a whole lot of blood, and they're gonna wonder 'what the hell happened?' And we're going to tell them that you—" He paused and gasped, "Beat the shit out of us."
Lance then glanced at Lotus as if she was going to help him. Really she had no idea what she was gonna do then Klaus looked at her real hard and muttered an apology before his fist connected with her eye.
"And now you've hurt a poor little girl?" Klaus sobbed, quickly disappearing to a sick grin. "You're gonna do great in prison, Grant. Trust me, I've been there. Little piece of chicken like you. Oh my god! You're gonna get passed around like a— never mind, you're gonna do great. That's all I'm sayin'"
Lance muttered something under his breath but stood up and lead them from the office, they walked not to far and watched as he went behind the counter and pulled a file from the shelf. He opened it up and placed a finger on a sheet and scanned along until he stopped, brows furrowed. "Oh, that's strange." He muttered.
"What?"
"Uh, the eye." Lance said, "It hasn't been purchased by a buyer yet."

"What? What do you mean?" Five angrily peered over the counter, Lance turned so the sheet was still unreadable to the three who stood there.
"Well, Uh, our logs say that the eye with that serial number— Wait, this can't be right. It hasn't been manufactured yet." He closed the file and gave Five a weary look, "Where did you get that eye?"
Five backed down and swayed on his heels before muttering, "Come on."
They all made their way out of the building. The air was crisp as another shot of wind whipped past them, Five sighed loudly staring up at the tall structure.
"Can I go now?" She asked, "Do you still need my help?"
"You're not going anywhere."
Klaus grinned staring at his brother, "I was pretty good though, right?"
"Klaus, it doesn't matter."
"What? What's the big deal with this eye anyways?"
Five took a step closer to his brother, and with the look on his face it should've been intimidating if he didn't look like a teenager. "Because in the next seven days there is someone out there who is going to lose an eye!" He tapped his foot impatiently on the ground, "They're going to bring about the end of life on this earth as we know it."
Lotus pursed her lips, she knew she didn't belong in this conversation. "Ima go." She called out making her way across the street.
"Lotus." Five's voice shouted, "You're not going anywhere!"
She raised her hands in defeat, "I'll just be in there." Her finger pointed to a variety store. "I'll be back.... I guess."
Lotus rushed up the steps and heard a bell go off. She slowed her pace and began wondering around the store. It was an old man behind the counter, his glasses were perched on the tip of his nose as he read some newspaper. She ran her hand along the glass of the wall of fridges, the cold feeling nice on her fingertips. She clicked her tongue, Candy she thought. With a smile the girl walked over to the correct isle which happened to be towards the far wall, she glanced up to see the man was still preoccupied before snatching a bag of rainbow candy strips off the shelf and shoved it in her back-pocket. She grabbed a few small bags of skittles and tucked them away in her pants. She chuckled grabbing a pack of gum just for the hell of it.
A car horn honked, and both her and the man looked towards the front door. Lotus walked past the front counter to get a better look, she saw the outline of a boy sitting in the backseat. She smiled at the man and noticed a small basket of sample donuts, she grabbed one and took off out the door. Lotus jammed the donut in her mouth as she saw Five giving a sarcastic smile from the window of a taxi. The door flew open and he nodded at her, "Get it."
She didn't complain, because she as soon as the door closed behind her did the old man take a few steps outside. She grinned unloading her stash, tossing a very annoyed looking Five a few packs of skittles.
"What's your deal?" She asked, "Huh? For the little bit of time I've known you, you're a very grumpy person."
He shot her another glare as the taxi took off, causing her small pile of stolen goods to fall by her feet.
"The world is ending and I'm the only one who's seen what happens, I was the last person alive. And believe me, it's not pretty nor was it great."
The taxi pulled to the side and Five jumped out, 'what a fast ride' she thought sarcastically as she scrambled to follow him. She was surprised he didn't just zap out of here, if he wanted to get away from her as much as his body language was telling her.
"Than live a little!" She yelled as she marched up to him, "You said it yourself, you were all alone and now you're surrounded by people! Enjoy it."
"You will not tell me what to do. You have no idea what I've been through and your mind is to small to comprehend what is going to happen."
Lotus rolled her eyes, "Why not let the world burn?"
He snorted, "Because I live in it."
They glared at each other for what felt like forever until someone shoved passed her, she broke eye contact and shook her head.
"Let's go."
It was Lotus' turn to snort as she took another good look at the boy- or old man - in front of her. "You still want my help?."
He brushed past her, "I suppose."
"Oooooorrrrr." She drawled out following him, "You just like having me around."
Five shook her head, "Don't flatter yourself, Lotus."
She laughed, "I'm a terrible partner in crime and I'm sure you've realized this by now. So, I know you don't really want my help because I suck at giving it."
He turned and gave her a look, "Just be quiet and come on. We don't have all day."
