Weeks.

Weeks have gone by and no answer from Lionel. He didn't want to contact me at the time and I understood that and gave him space, but it was getting too much for me. I needed to see him, but I refused because that would probably make him run away from me, which would be even worse. I had probably lost weight over the three weeks and looked like I was dying, which I felt like too.

I sighed as rubbed my eyes, then looked at my phone and unlocked it. I tapped on Lionel's contact but didn't have the courage to call him. The 'big bad wolf' was scared to call his own mate seems like an amazing story. "Boss, you feeling alright?" I looked at Pepper, one of my wolf detective, and then rolled my eyes.

"Does it look like I am alright?" I lashed out. Which I shouldn't since it wasn't her fault. I rubbed my eyes and leaned back in my chair. "Sorry, continue with the report."

"We can do this another time. I think you sh-" she began.

"Continue." I glared and saw her visually gulp. I was even considering killing her but she was one of the best and that's the only reason I let her live at the moment.

"O-okay." Her voice was shaking as she looked down at the glue in front of her. "So the woman that scammed almost thirteen men and women would use a dating app and she would chat people up, set up a date. Then at the end of the date, three or more guys would come and rob the victims."

"Hmm, smart," I mumbled.

"The last victim came to us and asked for help. And field agent Marcel Chognin was sent on the date with two others, including myself and Oliver Snow." She took a deep breath and exhaled. "At the end of the date three guys came and we were able to capture them all and send them to the police station along with the victims as evidence. Everything was recorded and was sent to the police."

"Case closed then?" I asked but Pepper shook her head.

"No, it seems that was just tip of the iceberg. It gets darker from there and it has something to do with hunters. Three out of those thirteen people werewolves and all they've been injure or have traces wolfsbane in their blood." She then looked down. "What should we do about this?"

"Well, I need to contact the other packs and let them know since they can move to their territory and then we can decide to take them down all at once or one at a time. Until then, keep an eye on cases that involves wolves or other creatures." I instructed.

"Yes, sir." She nodded and then left my office.

When she left, I got back to sulking. I felt like crying but the tears won't come out, maybe if they did, I would feel a little better and maybe I would get some sleep at night. "Let's get some work done so I can go home," I mumbled to myself as I took out a file and began reading it.

"Alpha," Damien spoke. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Yes," I closed my eyes. "I'm fine."

"You don't look fine." He came closer. "Think you should see Dr. McLaien."

"Thank you for your concern. I'll see him later." I knew there was something wrong with me. It was probably because Lionel was rejecting me and Maddox felt it. "Just continue, we need to get this done."

"I am sure Luke would be okay with taking over for a while." He smiled a little. "You need to rest."

"Fine, tell him to fix it. I'll be in the infirmary." I got up and made my way out of the room and towards the infirmary. Kobin McLaren was the head doctor and was putting some medical tools away. He was young and lively.

"Alpha," he bowed a bit. "What bring you here today?"

"A check-up," I answered as I sat on the medical bed.

"I thought you had a check-up already, five weeks ago." He looked through my file.

"This is different," I said. "I think I'm being rejected."

"You found your mate?" He seemed a bit shocked. "Since when have you been feeling this?"

"About three days," I answered, feeling drowsy. I don't know what happened after that because I think I blacked out. But when I came to, Kobin was checking my heartbeat and blood pressure as I laid down on the hospital bed, but in a different room. "What?"

"You passed out. Your heartbeat slowed down for three minutes before rinsing and your blood pressure was really low. If you feel like throwing up, here are some bags. Just lay down and rest." He instructed. I nodded and relaxed into the bed.

"Alpha!" Luke called as he burst through the door. "You're really dying!?"

"I will if you don't stop telling," I grumbled. Damn, I just wanted some peace and quiet while I die.

"Did he reject you? Tell me and I will end his life." He looked serious.

"He didn't. And if you kill him, I'll die too." I chuckled. I sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "He didn't respond yet."

"Let me go and get him." Luke was about to get up and walk out the door.

"Don't you dare," I warned. "Let him come to me."

"Fine," Luke huffed. "I'll let you get some rest. I'll be back later."

"Bye," I mumbled as I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep.

I watched a silhouette of a man appear before me. The figure was blurry and I couldn't see clearly who it was but I kind of recognized the voice of the man. "What are you going here, babe?" I asked the man but he just laughed and shook his head before turning away from me.

He watched towards the bright light in front of me. There were two other figures there, both boys. They were shorter and probably younger. They both grabbed the man's hand as they walked into the light. "Zeck..." I heard a faint call of my name. "Zecharia-" I heard the same voice again but louder.

I wanted to reach out and grab whatever was shaking me and push them away. I was having a nice dream and the person ruined it. "Wake up!" Someone yelled, startling me.

"What the hell?!" I yelled as I sat up on the bed and looked around the room, high on alert.

"Finally, awake huh?" Gina smirked. "Been trying to wake you for a while but you won't. Anyway, here's dinner since you skipped two meals, you get a big one."

"Thanks, I guess," I mumbled as I took the tray from her.

"I have something else for you, but you need to finish eating first." Gina smiled and continued to stare at me. I looked at her confused but ate the turnkey, and ham sandwich anyway. When I finished, she handed me a glass of water and drank it as quick as possible.

"What's the other thing?" I asked.

"What a good child you are, Alpha." She snickered. I glared at her and she put her hands up. "Okay, okay. Come on in." She called behind her.

The door opened a little and the sent that could calm me down or make me want to run after it came wafting in. I took a deep breath and waited. "Lionel?" I spoke the moment I saw his head peeking from the doorway. "What are you doing here?" I was a bit confused as to how he got here cause the back was deep inside the woods and only has two routes and multiple hidden ones.

"Th-this guy came to me saying that you were dying and I-I couldn't ge-" He was the verge of crying as tears rolled down his face. He slowly walked over to me and reached out. I took his hand and pulled him closed to me. "I am so sorry!" He wailed as he hugged me tightly.

I hugged him back and tucked my face in between his neck. His scent calming me down and making me feel better, little by little. "Calm down, I'm okay." I ran my hand up and down his back, trying to soothe him as he cried on my shoulder.

"I didn't mean to wait this long," he began and I looked over at Gina, signaling her to go, and thanking her. She quickly got up and left the room. "I was going to tell you and then I didn't have the courage because I waited this long. I'm sorry. A-and it was because of me that you almost d-died!"

"It wasn't all your fault," I said and pulled away to see his face. His face was red, with tears. "I just thought you rejected me and went down the spiral myself."

"Hmm," he hummed as he reached out to touch my face. His touch was soft and soothing, it made Maddox purr like a cat. I almost laughed out loud but quickly controlled myself. "I have an answer."

"Do tell," I smiled softly.

"I like you, and I think that's it cool that my mate is a werewolf." He laughed a little. "Of course I accept you, but..."

"But?" I looked at him to continue.

"We have to take this slow, like a normal human relationship, at least for a while." He sighed.

I smiled and nodded before pulling him into another hug. "Thank you," I whispered as I pulled him on the bed and tucked him into my chest. I felt Lionel nodded as he stayed quiet, I knew he was blushing but I didn't point it out because I didn't want to be mean.

We stayed like that until we both fell asleep.

Sorry for the long wait. I am just lazy and tired of school that I didn't have the energy to write or do anything. It has been one of those days, but for me, it's every day.
