《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 10: Clean

"Calm down." I patted Luke's back. "Kain didn't cheat on you."
"Yes, he motherfucking did!" He yelled as he tilted his head back to take another shot of whatever the hell he was drinking. "How dare he?!"
"He was talking to the girl and she was one who kissed him. He pushed her away and you smacked the shit out of her. Which was pretty impressive." I tried to explain to my Beta who was lost at the time.
"She deserved it," Luke mumbled as he took another shot. I couldn't help but agree with him. I mean, I don't support any type of abuse but if you do some dumb shit and deserve to get hit, you motherfucking get hit. "Don't let him come near me for a while, okay?"
"Fine, as long as you promise to speak and sort this out." We brought out glass together and then took a drink. "I wanna go home, the smell is making me nose blind."
Luke started laughing and almost fell backward if it wasn't for me pulling him back. I quickly paid our tab and got out of my seat. I pulled Luke with me and told him to wait until I brought the car around. When I did pull up to where I left him standing, I got out and get him in the car before driving to his house and then mine. When I got inside my house, I locked the door and get ready for bed, after taking a shower and brushing my teeth I made my way to my bedroom.
I looked at the phone and smiled before deciding to text Lionel. I waited for ten minutes but he didn't reply, he was probably asleep. Without thinking much about it, I plugged my phone to change before turning off the light and laying on my bed.
It wasn't until the next morning that I noticed that he didn't reply. "Something must be wrong," I mumbled as I walked to my car. I had work that day, I had work every day but that day I had one client to meet, find this and signs some papers. Then I would be free so I can investigate what was going on with Lionel.
I mean, I haven't talked much with him since I had texted him that even and then last night. He should be too creeped out by me to ignore me. I thought we were doing fine since that 'sort of date' because he actually opened up to me and I was very grateful for it. It gave me a chance to get to know him and a chance to test him to see if he would tell.

I had already done a background check on him and his family, and they weren't related to any hunter which was great news for me because it showed that he didn't hate my kind or didn't know about them yet. The chances of him being a hunger were also lowered because hunting was a family thing and the of three words got out, the others would call them crazy. Back in the days, they used to be killed but as time went on, the 'crazy' hunters were sent to an asylum.
I sighed as I sat down, restless, as I got to work.
~••••~
It was three in the afternoon when I was done with all the work. As I left the office building, the clouds were coming in. "The weatherman didn't say anything about rain," I mumbled to myself as I made my way to the car. I had a destination set in mind and I was very excited.
I knew he didn't have work today so it was fine. I had someone track his house address, which would seem creepy but I could just say the people from his work told me. With that in mind, I got in the care and carefully pulled out of the parking lot and went on the road. When I found out his house address, I was surprised that he lived close to my office.
When I arrived near his place, I parked my car close to his house, didn't want to seem like a stalker. I chuckled to myself and walked up the way to his front door and rang the doorbell three times. When I heard footsteps I straightened up myself and stood like a gentleman. "Who is it?" I heard his voice. It sent chills down my spine, the good kind.
"The mailman, I'm here with a package." I joked.
"Okay, wait a moment." He replied and I stood their kind of shocked. He actually believed that? It seemed my mate was a bit naïve.
The door clicked and his head peaked out. I smiled and he frowned, then suddenly he tried to shut the door on my face. But thanks to my quick reflex, I caught the door and I pushed my way in. "What are you doing? Get out." He seethed.
"Why?" I asked seriously because I had a feeling that this was no joking matter. "What happened?"
"What happened?!" He yelled as I shut the door behind me and took off my shoes to walk towards him. "What happened is that you're a liar."
I stared at him confused. I mean, yeah, I lied about my identity (in some way) but I don't think I lied about anything else. "Care to explain why you came to that conclusion?" I raised my eyebrow and slowly made my way to where he was pacing. He stopped in front of me and stared up at me with skeptical eyes.

"You really don't know? Are you that slow?" He looked a bit amused.
"Lionel, what's going on with you?" I slowly approached him and put my hands in his shoulder to make him look at me but he just kept his head low.
"The club," I heard a faint whisper. "I saw you there."
"Yesterday?" I questioned and he nodded. I smiled when I noticed that my mate was jealous. "That was just a friend, he was going through something rough and need some comfort."
"Yeah, probably in bed too." He mumbled with a trembling voice.
"I would never," I leaned down and reached out to tilt his face up. I looked into his eyes and smiled softly. "You're the only one for me, you should know that by how hard I'm working to win your heart."
"You're lying again." He looked away. "Stop it."
He pushed my hands away and turned away from me. "I didn't lie about anything but there is something I need to be clean about so you won't misunderstand me next time." I walked up behind him and hugged him. "You want to know?" I whispered in his ear.
"What?" He answered after a while.
"You have to trust me, okay?" I smiled and took his hand as we walked to his backyard. There was a cluster of trees there which helped me a lot.
"This better be good or I will have your head on a platter." Lionel rolled his eyes as he hugged his coat. We walked around the fence and deeper into the trees. "This is getting a bit creepy, Zechariah."
"Just trust me," I said as I looked behind and smiled at him.
~••••~
It took about ten minutes to get there and when I did, I looked around and carefully inspected to see if there was anyone around. "Now what?" Lionel asked.
"Now you watch the magic happen." I winked with a nervous smile. "But before that, promise you won't run away until I've explained."
"Okay," Lionel nodded and I told him to back up a bit. After, I started stripping my button-up, pants, and everything. "W-what are you doing?" Lionel turned away and I heard his heartbeat pick up.
"Turn around," I commanded to which he complied but looked confused as to why he followed. "You have to watch, okay?"
I slowly got on all fours and then slowly started shifting. I heard my bones cracking and it sounded gruesome but it was easy for me. I got used to it after all the years. My fur sprouted and my claws came out. I felt my canines coming out and then suddenly my visions became clear. I heard a loud gasp behind and turned around to see Lionel taking a step back.
He looked scared because he took a step back. I whined and laid my head down low to let him know I wasn't going to harm him. "You're that wolf," I heard him whispered as he stared at me.
I tiled my head in question when I got what I meant. He first saw me in the woods where I discovered that he was my mate. I laid on the grass, I didn't want to move too suddenly and scare him. I wanted him to make the first move. It took a while but slowly, Lionel made his way in front of me and said, "don't bite." With that, he reached out and ran his fingers through my fur. It felt good because his hands were cold, it cooled my hot skin.
I had enough and got up and licked his face, making him laugh. "You're just like a dog!" He exclaimed as I jumped on him and kept on licking his face. I stopped to let him breathe and closed my eyes, listening to my mate's laugh. It was peaceful and calming.
I shifted back and quickly put on my pants since I didn't want him to have peace, just yet. Lionel's face got serious and I knew it was the time. "We need to talk about this," I spoke as I sat down next to him.
Lionel nodded and I sighed. I didn't know whether he would reject me or not, but it seemed like he wasn't going to.
