《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 8: Kiss And Tell

I whistled as I walked down the hallway to my office. Luke was beside me and he seemed a little confused by my action but he didn't dare speak. Gina, on the other hand, laughed at me. "What's got you in a good mood early in the morning?" She asked as she walked in front of me.
"Nothing really." I smiled as we walked into the office room.
"It's clearly something," Luke mumbled.
"Sure, sure," I answered in a dismissive tone. "Now let's get down to business."
"Okay," Luke stood up and held up the file. I took it from him and read it over as he explained. "This year we have about 14,789 werewolves, including all the children. Eventually, we would need to expand our territories."
"Okay, what about the budget?" I asked, looking towards Gina.
"For the past months, we've stayed in the budget but it seems that in five years it won't be that way. We are kind of experiencing overpopulation since there is no danger to our kind, except hunters and rogues." She answered. "We might need more than 5 million a year very soon."
"Well, I guess it's time to address all these issues. Overpopulation isn't going to stop anytime soon, so we need to make sure we are prepared for it, also I want to look at new lands where everyone can fit. We can move there once everything is in order." I nodded as I thought of a plan. "Tell everyone that there is a meeting this Saturday, and everyone must attend, except the children and babies."
"Okay, Alpha." Gina saluted and walked out of the room.
Luke just stood there and I looked at him with a brow raised. He looked at me and then sat down with a sigh. "I don't know what to do." He whined.
"About?" I asked I was anticipating this talk.
"Kain," he whispered the name as if it would haunt him if he said it louder.
"What about Kain? What did he do this time?" I asked as I sighed and leaned back. Luke sat down across from me. His face had worry lines and his eyes had bags.
"He wants me to move in with him." Luke sighed as he spoke, he looked at me worried but I didn't say anything. "He's a warrior and I am the beta, it should be him moving in with me, not the other way but he won't listen. I've tried talking to him several times but he just brushed me away."

"So communication problems?" I asked after a while and Luke nodded. "You need to make him listen. There are multiple ways, just pick one."
"Like what?" He asked, oh so innocently.
"I am sure you've had sex before," I smirked when I saw his face flush. "Either with him or other people. Don't you know how to tease?"
"We haven't done it yet." He mumbled.
"Then use it to your advantage. I am sure he wants to jump you, but you told him to wait and he will. But that doesn't mean you can't tease him until he's frustrated and then makes him listen. Which would annoy him but go for it." I smiled innocently when I saw his face light up.
"You are an evil genius!" Luke yelled and ran out the door.
I smiled as I felt satisfied with the situation. I knew I could intervene but I wanted them to settle their problems because there were any decisions. It's never a great idea to make decisions when all the sides don't agree.
~••••~
I watched him as he smiled at the customers and handed them their room keys, "have a nice stay." I could hear his sweet voice from here. I sighed as I looked at my mate.
"Damn, I wish I could just go over there and devour him," I whispered to myself. My wolf nodded as he agreed with me. Maddox had been patient when I asked him to as I tried to win out mate over. He wanted to mark him and make him ours but he was a human and would be very frightened.
I took out my keys and got out of my car to make my way over to him. Lionel was smiling and when he looked up at me his smile dropped, it was replaced with a glare. I smiled and stopped in front of him and leaned on the desk. "How was your day?" I asked with a grin.
"Great, until you showed up." He grumbled.
"You don't have to act as you dislike me. I know you enjoyed our date." I winked, making him blush and his heartbeat speed up.
"That was no date!" He whispered yelled to me.
I ignored him while grabbing his hand. Lionel tried to pull away from me, but I was stronger than him. "I was thinking about driving through the city and I would love it if you joined me." I gave him my charming smile.
"Nope. I have work and you need to leave." He took his hands away from me and looked away. I could hear his heat eating skipping when I mentioned date. He's playing hard to get. I chuckled and looked at him. "I'll wait until your shift is done, see ya later."

I waved and made it back to my car. I pulled out of the parking spot and got myself some food because I knew it was going to be a long wait. I quickly texted Luke to make sure everything was orderly for the day and that I had to do something important. His reply made me chuckle, he said that it's not doing something important, it's doing my mate. I laughed a little as I put my phone back in the cup holder in my car.
It was five and I had a whole three more hours to go until Lionel's shift ended. I passed my time by watching shows and movies on my phone or listening to songs. I pushed my seat back and laid down in my car as hours passed by. This felt like school and I didn't like it one bit. At least in school, there were some classes that made time go by faster.
It was exactly three hours and twenty minutes later I heard someone knock on my window. I moved my seat up and to see Lionel staring at me with an amused look. I unlocked the car doors and got out to be face to face with him. "You actually waited for me. Wow." He smiled as he held his bag.
I took his bag and put it in the back seat before opening the passenger side door for him. "Of course I did. I told you I would and I keep true to my words." I smiled as he got in quietly and I closed the door behind him. I quickly made it to the driver's side before starting the car and pulling out of the pale king lot.
"A man of your worlds, huh?" He smirked as he asked that.
"Yep." I smiled and glanced at him before back looking at the road.
We drove around the city and went to a restaurant to eat dinner. Lionel seemed more relaxed as we spoke more and more. I noticed a few things about him, one behind he didn't like to talk about his family, except his little sister. Two, he wanted to get a better job but didn't have the money to go to college and be an engineer or something. Three, when he got nervous he would look away and rub his hands together. It was cute.
When we were done we went for dessert at an ice cream parlor. He got strawberry and chocolate flavor ice cream while I got a Rocky Road. We walked out of the shop and made it to my car. "Thanks, for dinner and ice cream," Lionel spoke as I drove to his house.
"No problem. I enjoyed our time together too. Who knew you could be fun." I laughed when he smacked me in the shoulder.
"Shut it, I can be fun when I want to." Lionel huffed and looked out the window.
"I was just joking." I patted his thigh, without thinking. Lionel shivered and felt his body heat change. "Sorry."
"I-it's fine." He stuttered. Just then I pulled up before his house. "Thank you again."
He said that but didn't get out of the car. I nodded before unbuckling myself and getting out of the car. I went out to his side and opened the door. Lionel our and went to get his things when he was all set he was going to walk away but before he could, I pulled him to my chest and held him there. Lionel didn't struggle but gasped instead. "Let's be clear, I want to date you eventually and I would love to have a chance to prove myself." I leaned down and but his ear, making his gasp and put his hands on my chest.
"Wh-What?" He stuttered again and gasped.
"I am trying to woo you," I whispered before pulling back to look at his flushed face. I still had my hands around his waist and he didn't move, I guess I took it upon myself to make the first move and slowly leaned into peak his lips before pulling myself away from him. I knew if I had stayed longer I would've done something we both didn't want at the time. "See you soon, handsome."
I got in the car and closed the door. "You asshole!" Lionel yelled when he finally came to his senses. He tried to come after me but I drove off with a huge smile on my face.
When I reached my home, Luke was waiting there for me. "What's got you smiling like an idiot?" He snickered.
"Shhh, it's too late and I don't kiss and tell." Was my reply before walking inside, leaving him there with a shocked look.
It was a great day and night that day.
