😊

I sighed for the nth time in ten minutes. It was just another day, it was normal for me to be bored and tired. But it felt different, it felt like I was missing something I knew what it was, I didn't want to admit it. It was very hard to hide him form the rest of my pack because they knew something was going on. Don't get it wrong, they didn't mind the humankind but we knew from some experiences that they cannot be trusted.

Humans can be selfish, greedy and narcissistic. No matter how they put themselves out there, there's always a hidden agenda with them. Unlike us, they are not connected with others and work independently. Werewolves are very dependent on their pack and that's what makes us wrong and weak. If one of us goes down, we all go down together. That's how we were raised.

The door to my study opened. "Mr. Sanderson, you three o'clock meet is here." The secretary, Blair Peel, spoke. I nodded and smiled.

There were knocks on the door again. I told them to come in and sat up straight. "Welcome, Mr. Rue." I got up to shake his hand before sitting back down after him. "What can I help you with this time?" I ran an undercover agency where we find people who cannot be found. It helps with the pack funding and as werewolves, we get to put our skills to the test.

He looked at me and then dig into his pocket before pulling out a picture of a young girl. "Her," he said. His voice was deep and unnerving. It was like he was void of any emotion and he didn't seem to care for this girl.

"Okay, what's the reason?" I asked leaning back, challenging him to oppose me. This old human really annoyed me to the pint where I wanted to tear him to pieces but the thought of going to jail stopped me. "I'll help, but I need to know your motive and the backstory because I don't help criminals."

He looked at with a grin. He has sweat on his face and his blush came on as his eyes moved to me and then to the floor. I knew he was nervous, I could smell it. This gave me the upper hand, this was always good when dealing with people who have power. "Well," I stood up and gracefully made my way to the door. "When you find a good enough reason, maybe I'll help. For now, I have other business." I opened the door for him and saw his face drop. Mr. Rue stood up and straightened his jacket before walking out the door. "Oh, before I forget. Don't try to get others involved to find her, it would be useless." I warned him with a dark smile.

I loved scaring the shit out of people. Especially, those who think that I have some power over them. I mean, I do but I won't use it unless needed. I walked over to my desk and pressed the red button. "Ms. Peel, please cancel all of my appoints after lunch," I spoke into the microphone.

"Yes, Mr. Sanderson." She answered. I smiled, pulling away from the desk before heading over to my closet. I picked out my blazer and walked out the door.

"I'm heading to lunch," I told my assistant, Blair Peel, as I walked past her desk. She nodded and went back to work as I walked to the parking lot to my car. I was going to the usual place when I noticed him. Someone who made my heart beat faster and question my choices. "Lionel," I whispered. A smirk came to my face. This was the perfect chance to get to know him and annoy him.

I closed the car door and walked over to the other side of the street, looking both ways so I wouldn't be hit by a passing car. It wouldn't kill me but if I came alive afterward it would raise questions. When I was on the sidewalk on the other side, I made my way towards him. He looking at some showcase of a shop. I quietly made my way to him and put hands above him yelling, "boo!" Which made him scream very loudly.

"What the hell?!" He yelled angry before turning to see me. "What's wrong with you? You scared me."

"I was going for that." I smiled as I took my hands off him. "What are you shopping?"

"Um," he blushed and looked away. "Nothing, just gifts for a friend's birthday."

"Need any help?" I asked with a wide innocent smile.

"You have work, you should focus on that." He dismissed my offer and turned away.

"No way," I walked up to him and blocked his path. "I'd rather go with you. So let me? Please, please, please, please!"

"Fine, if you behave and would actually help me." I sighed as he walked into the shop. I nodded and followed him in. It was a toy shop.

"Who are we shopping for?" I asked as I browsed the isle.

"A little girl." He answered. The shop clerk made his way to us.

"What can I help you gentlemen with?" He asked with a nice smile. He was young but older than us, he didn't have gray hair and he wasn't as tall as Lionel or me.

"We are looking for a gift for a five-year-old girl. Do you have any suggestions?" Lionel asked.

"Oh yes," the clerk smiled. He showed us many toys that were popular among little girls but I didn't like any of them. As Lionel saw more, I walked around the shop and looked at the things they had.

It was pretty lively but someone of the toys was new and boring. I walked to the back of the shop where the checking out counter was and saw an old-style dollhouse. It wasn't big but it seemed like it was one of it's kind. "How about this one?" I asked as I held up the house.

Lionel walked over to me and took dollhouse in his hands to inspect it. "Yeah, this one seems good." He brought it up the counter and brought. The clerk packed it for him in pink gift wrap. We thanked him and walked out of the store. "Thank you for helping me. Now I owe you a favor." He chuckled as he walked to his car and I followed him.

"Well, then go on a date with me." I joked.

Lionel halted in his tracks and turned to me with a serious expression. "You know I can't do that. Not after what happened," he mumbled the last part but I heard him clearly.

"Yes, I know. But I am nothing like Flynn. He already has someone, while I don't." I smiled, I was serious about it. "I know I said I'd wait but I am willing to court you."

"Court me? Am I a girl that you need to court me?" He asked offended.

"No, you're a man. But that doesn't mean you don't deserve the effort." I winked and walked closer making his breath hitch slightly. I leaned down a bit and looked into his eyes. "Are you will give me a chance?"

Lionel stepped back and took a deep breath. He then unlocked his car and put away the gifts. Before getting into the driver's seat he turned to me and smiled. He then said, "no." and smirked. Before closing the door and starting the car. I thought I had lost him, but then he rolled down his window and spoke. "But you're welcome to try." With that, he drove off.

He and I both didn't know that it was that day that I had truly started trying.
