《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 3: Date Gone Wrong

^Miranda Kerr as Parker Pielyn^
"Are you ready?" Parker came into my bedroom and asked.
"Not really?" I answered but it came out as a question. "I really done feel good about this date, and I didn't even know the guy."
"Well, you both have one thing in common." She rolled her eyes as she fixed my shirt. I stayed quiet and waited for her to answer. "You're both gay—well, like men. You guys can go off from there."
"But—" I began but was cut off.
"Stop," Parker held up her hand. "You will be fine and we'll be right there beside you. If something goes wrong, we can leave."
"Fine," I mumbled as I shrug in my jeans jacket. "If one thing goes wrong, we are leaving, immediately!"
"Fine, you little diva." Parker chuckled and walked out the door as I sat in my bed and put on socks. I sighed when I was done and walked towards the door. I closed my bedroom door and walked to my living room where Nichole and Parker were waiting. "Ready?"
"As I'll ever be," I answered with an exasperated sigh. Nichole came to my side and squeezed my arm. "Thanks."
"Welcome," she smiled as she walked to Parker, who was holding her hands out. Nichole took it as they walked out the door with wide smiles. I shook my head as I locked the door behind me.
I couldn't be jealous of my best friends. I knew I didn't have something like them, but I had a feeling that I was fought to have something like their love someday. But, that doesn't mean that I would wait for it to come to me. I had dated guys before, but all they wanted was some quick sex with no strings attached. I didn't want that, I was so scared to bring it up to them because I wasn't confident enough, and that was when I was in my early twenties.
I felt like no one wanted to be with me, emotionally. They didn't want me, they just wanted my body. I would always feel ashamed after the fling and even cried once. I was over that now, I've grown and I was more comfortable in my skin and my sexuality. "Buckle up," Parker spoke as we entered the car. I was sitting in the back while Nicole was driving and Parker in the passenger seat.

I shook my head as I pulled the belt and clicked it into the buckle. I looked out into the distance as we pulled away from my driveway. "This is going to be exciting." Nichole smiled as she turned on the radio.
I just stayed silent the whole ride thinking about what could happen. I was worried that the guy would turn out to be a bad guy or I could do something wrong because it had been a long while since I went on a date. I think it was about eight months ago. The guy was really nice but soon I got to know him and he turned out to be the worst of them all. He was in the closet, and that wasn't even the bad part. The worst was when his friends would come over and he was acting totally different. It was weird to see them kicking and being hella homophobic, and the guy would join in.
We were only dating for about two months and I broke it off with him. I couldn't stay with some who couldn't accept who they were. I didn't want to be with someone who wasn't their true selves, well, at least tried to be.
~••••~
We parked the car near a restaurant. I could tell it was a family restaurant because it felt more holy than formal or date like. Which was a good start because I wasn't dressed for anything like that. I got out of the car and Nichole and Parker followed. We walked into the restaurant and Parker went to the receptionist and asked her for a table. She led us into the restaurant and to the booth. We all sat down, I sat on the opposite side of them, and then picked up the menu. Then I remembered something, "Hey, what's his name?" I asked as I closed the menu and looked up at them.
"Oh, did we forget to tell you?" Nichole looked up. I nodded and she gave a small smile as an apology. "His name is Flynn McKade. He's an engineer somewhere."
"Well, that helps a lot." I rolled my eyes at them.
Parker looked at me and then behind me. "Oh look, he's here." She pointed behind me and when I turned around, I saw a handsome man talking to the receptionist, and she pointed towards our table. He smiled at her and started to walk towards us. I turned back to Nichole and Parker. "Don't worry, darling, you'll do great." Parker smiled at me.

The man, Flynn, walked up to us and smiled at Parker and Nichole. "It's finally nice to meet the woman Nichole talks about all the time." He shook Parker's hand. "And you must be Lionel, it's nice to meet you." He turned to me with a smile, damn he has a dimple.
"It's nice to meet you as well." I shook his hand and scooted over so he could sit down. He sat down and started talking to everyone. Sometimes even me.
As he talked to Nichole and Parker, I check him out. Flynn has deep brown eyes, and short jet black hair, he also has small stubbles which were sexy. He was dressed in a white checkered shirt and some black skinny jeans. In all, he was a good looking man, who was apparently, gay. "So Lionel, where do you work?" He asked as he turned to, sipping water out of a straw.
"Well, I work at King's Hotel," I answered honestly.
"The most expensive hotel?" He asked with a soft gasp. I nodded with a laugh. "My friends tried to a room there one holiday but it was full."
"Yeah, during holidays it's really popular," I answered quietly. We walked a little more and Parker joined in, along with Nichole. It was fun and I was starting to relax into this double date.
Our waitress arrived and we all ordered and waited for the food to arrive. When it did we began eating but still talking. "Well, then he had to run naked all the across the field to get to the bathroom. It was so funny and shocking." Flynn finished his story, making us all laugh. "Yeah, his parents didn't it was funny and almost sued the school." He took a sip of his soda.
"But he really deserved it." I chuckled.
"Yes, he did," Flynn whispered softly, looking at me. "Anyway, I had a great time."
"Yeah, I was thinking about dessert in the next shop. They had really yummy cakes and ice cream." Parker raised her hand to ask the waitress to bring the check. We all paid, and I paid for my food even though Flynn insisted that he pay for it, but I was stubborn too.
We walked out of the restaurant and started walking towards the ice cream and cake shop when I heard someone yell Flynn's name. We all turned around to see a man, about 5'10" staring at us. He walked up to us, well Flynn and glared at him. "How could you?" His voice boomed.
"Casey, let's talk about this later." Flynn went up to Casey but he stepped back.
"We had a date today and when you didn't show up, I asked your brother where you were and he said went on a date!" Casey yelled and I looked at him shocked as did Nichole.
"What the actual hell?" I whispered. "You were already with someone and you're on a date with me?"
"Fuck you, Flynn." Casey turned away. "When you get home, don't expect me to be there because whatever we had is over. Fuck you and our stupid bond." Casey's voice was shaky as he spoke. He then turned around and walked away as Flynn watched him shocked.
"What the hell are you doing?!" I yelled at him, making him look at me with wide eyes. "Go after him you asshole and don't ever contact me."
I turned around and walked into the shop, along with Nichole and Parker. I fucking hate men like that! I screamed internally. "Lion, babe?" Parker questioned me as she walked up to me.
"No, this is your's and Nichole's fault too. You were supposed to know if he had someone." I huffed. "I am never going to trust you guys to set up anything for me."
With that, I walked up to the counter and ordered a small pint of caramel and almond ice cream. I paid, turned around and walked to the car. We drove home, in silence and when they dropped me off, I didn't even sit goodbye as I walked into my small house and locked the door behind me.
As I watched a movie and ate the pints of ice cream, I thought about how my love life sucked.
"But I have you," I whispered to the ice cream.
