《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 2: Just A Little Longer

😢
I looked at the couples around me. They were either making out or straight up having sex. This club was just disgusting and unsanitary and it made me want to throw up. "How are you enjoying the club, Alpha?" My Beta, Luke, asked. He already had a boy and a girl wrapped around his body. He turned to them and whispered something, making them both nod and walk away.
"No," I answered after they were gone. "I am leaving."
"Wait!" Luke called out as he tried to stop me. "I know it's not my place to say anything but you haven't found your mate yet, so what the loss is getting to know other people?"
"Beta," I growled. "I've gotten to know a lot of people, and I am just bored." I glared at him. "And it's not only about not finding my mate."
"Sorry, Alpha," I heard him mumbled over the loud music.
"Don't step out of line, and don't play too much. Save something's for your mate." I turned away and started walking towards the exit, I didn't need to know that I had hit a sensitive spot, but he needed to hear it. I walked towards my car and unlocked it. I didn't feel like shifting and running towards my house, I just wanted to enjoy a car ride that was quiet. It was rare for me to get any quiet time, and this was my chance.
The drive home wasn't too long and my quietness was short lived because the moment I entered the pack house, I was swarmed with people asking me different questions. I just ignored them and walked into my office. Gina came in, she seemed a bit annoyed. "You should answer the people sometimes." She huffed as she sat down. "What's wrong, Zeck?" I was annoyed at how easily she could read me.
"How would you know what was wrong with me?" I asked her defensively.

"You just have a readable face. Some people just don't know how to read it well enough." She drugged as she leaned back. "Now tell me what's wrong."
"Sometimes you act like you're my Alpha." I chuckled as I leaned back.
"I could be," she winked. "Now, spill."
"It's nothing, Gina. Stop it." I rolled my eyes. She didn't need to know anything, it was my problem to deal with.
"If you don't tell me now, I will tell Maggie that you want her and you know how that girl is obsessed with you." She threatened.
"Fuck, since when did you become so threatening?" I asked, a little scared. Maggie was the girl in my pack that thought that she was my true mate and anytime another person got a little close to me, she would scare them off. At first, I didn't know about it but soon I found out and warned to mind her business. She has stayed quiet, for now.
"Since I needed to be." She gave a cheeky smile.
"Fine, when I was at the club with Luke, he said—" she cut me off.
"And you didn't invite me?" She whined and I looked at her. "Fine, fine. Finish your story."
"Luke said that since I haven't found my mate yet, I should enjoy my life a little and that annoyed the hell out me. I've waited six years for them, Gin, what happens if they're not alive or I just don't have one?" I looked at her and by her reaction, I knew how I must've looked: desperate.
She sighed and walked up to me. She hugged me and I hugged her back. "Just be patient for a little longer, I have a feeling that something good is going to happen very soon." She patted my back and then we talked some more, about non-heavy stuff and then she left.
As I stayed in my study, I thought about what she said and I really wanted it to be true, and soon.

~••••~
I walked around the forest, it was for patrol because there were some rogues that were hanging around the border. Some of the concerned pack members wanted me to check it out and make sure that everything was alright. I had my Beta and another warrior wolf with me. We had shifted and searched the whole border for anything that might give us a clue of what they were doing here or planning.
•Look around to make sure that nothing is missed.• I commented through our link. They both gave a small nod and started to look around.
Just as I turned around to look, I heard faint footsteps and heavy breathing. It sounded far away but I knew the person was getting closer. •Human incoming.• One of them said but I didn't listen, because I knew that the smell.
Mate, Maddox whispered.
Holy shit, this was actually happening. I thought I was moved to the slide line to see a man running by. He seemed to be sweating and breathing heavily. He was listening to classical music and then suddenly he took off the headphone and looked wound with a small smile on his face. •Alpha, we should get going.• I heard Luke suggest.
•My Mate.• I responded instead, not taking my eyes off of him.
•Are you sure, Alpha?• The warrior wolf, Hensley, asked.
I turned my head and glared at him, making him cower a little. •Of course I am sure, I know he's my mate,• a little growl rumble in my chest.
He started walking away and I followed him, Luke and Hensley tight behind me. Then the man stopped and looked around. "Okay, freaky." I heard him mumbled. He probably heard the wing snap when I stepped on it. Then I saw him shrug and then walk away. I followed him until he stopped again and this time, he looked around and when his eyes landed on us, it widened. "Fuck." He cussed, which make me mentally frown. "Oh, my fuck!" He cussed and started sprinting towards the end of the woods, and of course, I followed behind him.
Then he exited the woods and ran away. I didn't follow him because people would see me, and I didn't need a wolf hunt. I turned back and shifted to my human form before walking back and picking up my clothes. "You're Mate is a human," Luke mumbled next to me.
"I know, and if anyone finds out about this, I will have both of your heads," I growled as I walked back to my house and closed the door behind me.
I walked to my bathroom and quickly took a shower. What are you going to do? Maddox asked. He seemed a little to calm about the situation.
"I don't know, I am not sure it's a good idea to peruse him. He's a human and you know how our pack feels about them. They'll be scared, but I need him." I answered.
They'll understand. He mumbled. All you have to do is make him understand.
"I don't think he will." I sighed as I dried myself and wrapped the towel around my waist. "And with all the rogues, it'll be extra weight."
He's out mate! Maddox shouted. We need him, you need him. We've waited six years for this and I am not willing to lose my mate because of your cowardliness.
"Okay, damn," I mumbled as I laid in bed. Even though it was early, I felt tired. "We'll do something about it later, for now, let me think."
All your thinking is what will make your actions worse. He spoke and returned to the back of my mind.
It seemed that he was right about that.

Fated Nirvana || Completed ✅
The Fated Series. Book #1. "A single minute without her in my arms and it felt like a lifetime." - Mateo Ramos My name is Mateo Adam Ramos. I was born into a family who's bleed for their reputation, and built us into being one of the most dangerous families to exist. You hear my name... you run. I for one am determined to continue upholding that reputation because that's in my blood. But things are never that simple, are they? Feeling and emotions got involved, and everything I thought I knew, vanished the second I met her. A soft souled, beautiful brown eyed girl who gleams with goodness found her way into my life. I shouldn't have played the good samaritan, that was my fault. I don't want to know goodness, and yet I'm drawn in like it's the light to cure my sins. This goodness has a name, and a face of salvation and I for one know I shouldn't get involved. Guess what I do? I get involved. Because even if I don't want too that's not really how fate works, is it? You don't pick and choose fates plan, you get slammed with it and good luck to your poor soul. This is my story, the kind that was written years before I was even born, and now I'm living it. Watch me make a mess of it too, because after all, I wasn't born to follow. P.S. This book is technically #1, but I have a book before this one that's about their parents. You learn more, and get a clue about their parents and why they are the way they are. Some of the conversations in this book would make more sense by knowing the past. It's not as well written, but if you can get thought it, I promise you'll love this one even more. Of course if you rather start here, then you do you! It will make sense either way! I tired to fill in all the gaps without it getting overbearing. You can always hop back to the book before this after.
