Out of the shadows of the night a figure came forth, it wasn't Lu Han this time but Bai Kang, the chief eunuch of the imperial palace. "Zhuren how long do you plan on staying here, the court is in disarray and Fang Mu ordered me to tell you that if you are not back before a breath in time, he will go out find and come get you himself and you really don't want that Zhuren" Bai Kang's tone was that of a pouting teenager, a complete contrast to the tone and voice he uses in the imperial palace.

The emperor gave one last look to Jiang room and then disappeared, the black robes he was wearing made him blend into the darkness of the night perfectly. Bai Kang called out to him, "Master wait up..." he wasn't pleased with been left behind and was soon beside the emperor.

If the emperor didn't want to be found he won't be but Bai Kang was the only exception because the emperor and Bai Kang shared as bond. It was due to his special existence and the special connection shared with the emperor. It was this bond that lead to Bai Kang's ability to locate the emperor so swiftly and accurately despite the emperor's ability to perfectly conceal himself and even when the emperor didn't want to be found.

Bai Kang's curiosity was peaked the moment he had arrived at this manor because he knew his master didn't allow strangers close to him. So he had wondered who was inside that room and if that person was the reason that made the emperor neglect his duties for so long.

The emperor said as he increased his speed then suddenly threw a kick forward as Bai Kang suddenly appeared in front of him, Bai Kang swiftly dodged the kick..

The emperor in this instance felt great resentment for the ancient royals and his predecessors. Due to tradition, he was made to go through a test and Bai Kang was the 'best reward' they could come up with to compensate all the troubles he persevered. "What's so special about him anyway (Bai Kang 'his reward'), so troublesome!" he grumbled to himself.

The emperor might have thought negatively about Bai Kang at some point but that wasn't his honest opinion. He knew Bai Kang's worth pretty well and he couldn't have asked for a better reward from the ancients, the ancients where what the royals use to call their ancestors or ancient royals who had left the guide on becoming the true emperor as well as true empress. Bai Kang kept moving from the emperor's right side to his left side while flashing him his killer puppy dog eyes that usually got people to do whatever he wanted but he forgot he wasn't in the right environment to use that move.

Bai Kang just scoffed at that, no amount of mocking will make him change back. Just remembering the amount of hands that pulled at his chubby cheeks and called him a cute child due to his appearance, when he had lived a century more than them made him guffaw. In his race, he was indeed a child but who gave these humans the right to treat him as such, he huffed and puffed just thinking about it. The emperor had a smirk on his face as he thought of how easy it was to distract Kang from questioning him but he will realize how so wrong he was pretty soon.

the emperor tried his best to ignore the nosy brat moving all around him.

Bai Kang winked at the emperor and smiled, he had this I have found out your secret expression.

Bai Kang failed to notice or choose not to notice the bulging veins coming out of the emperor's body.

Bai Kang didn't know how it happened but he seemed to come to his senses at that moment when he felt he was falling into what looked like a deep ditch.

Bai Kang could stop the fall, he tried to shift into his true form but he found out he couldn't shift no matter what he did thus he could only prepare for the upcoming impact between his body and the hard surface of the bottom of ditch. Bai Kang screamed from within the deep ditch, his voice reverberated all over the forest they were passing through.

The emperor wasn't fazed by the fact that he had just forced Bai Kang to fall into such a deep ditch. Instead he felt relaxed as he was finally able to get rid of the stinky and nosy brat, even if it was just for a moment.

The next morning Jiang woke up, his gaze was a dull for a few seconds before it cleared up. He sat up from the bed and the silk cloth that the emperor had used to cover his body the night before, fell off. Jiang didn't feel any pain coming from the injuries he supposedly obtained from Jun Tan's merciless beating. Startled by that discovery, he checked his body and found out that all the wounds had disappeared over night like they were never there.

Jiang's voice couldn't conceal the mockery and deep hatred directed towards himself. Although the wounds obtained from the night before had disappeared without a trace, his experience was etched into his memory, never to be forgotten.

Jiang also noticed that ice jewel had changed back into a veil, which meant while he was sleeping the previous ugly look he carried, which Jun Tang had seen, had reverted back to his real (second chance life) look. Jiang swore in his mind never to use ice jewel to change back into that ugly appearance again.

After dressing he walked out of the room while thinking back to the memories he had recently obtained. His expression was a mixture of rage, grief, despair and determination as he faced the bright blue morning sky.

Jiang once bright eyes seem to have lost its shine. His eyes held so much despair and rage that churned within his soul. He couldn't hate them, the people who made his life a purgatory to live but he could be angry at them.
