《The Younger Agent - Natasha Romanoff x OC》Chapter 94 - Roadtrip

Eleanor had thought that the flight over to Portugal was a nightmare, but the real nightmare had started when they landed. In the midst of thinking that they were going to die whilst flying over the Atlantic, she hadn't taken into consideration the fact that it would be an approximate four-day travel time including the breaks to reach the safe house in Northern Norway.
So, when the pair got into the tiny rental car with Eleanor driving so that Nat could take a sleep break and the sat-nav was turned on indicating the total drive time, a lot of profanities slipped out of her mouth before she started the car and began the hellish journey across multiple countries. Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark were the countries that they would have to traverse through before reaching their desired country. Even then, they had to drive through almost the entirety of it to reach the small town that they would be staying in.
With being in charge of the flying for so long, when Nat got to go to sleep in the car she quickly fell into a deep slumber that lasted much longer than the duo had anticipated. So much so that when Eleanor pulled up into a motel and failed to wake her up, she just had to fall asleep next to her in the car within the car park. Though she was abruptly woken up when Nat awoke and saw Eleanor asleep next to her. In her dazed, tired state she had assumed that they were still on the highway and began to frantically shake her wife awake so that they wouldn't crash the car.
Before she could realise her mistake Eleanor was wide awake and felt as though she was having heart palpitations, throwing a glare at her now sheepish wife before both worked on falling asleep again. Though it was an effort with the sheer amount of adrenaline pumping through their veins.
They took turns driving in shifts and went with their plans of sneaking into empty motel rooms and leaving them as though they were never there, or sleeping in the car as they moved through the various countries. To help with the nerves of the desperation of getting to safety, they pretended as though they were on a holiday road trip. It wasn't too hard to do so as some of the views and tourist attractions that they passed were very lovely. Plus when together the two could have fun in any situation, cracking jokes and telling anecdotes. What started off as a tortuous drive had ended up being quite a nice change of pace.
But the time eventually came when they reached the crossing over to Sæbø, and it was time for the second ferry ride of the trip, though this time far more North. "I'm cold, I'm cold, I'm cold", Eleanor kept repeating whilst bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet whilst hugging herself. Natasha, who didn't seem too bothered by the cold, gave a small pout at seeing the younger woman begin shivering and wrapped an arm around her shoulder whilst rubbing her hand up and down her arm for some friction.
"I know, let's go and find a place to freshen up, yeah? Hopefully they've got some warm water". Eleanor muttered some words of agreement in the middle of her teeth chattering and allowed herself to be guided away and to the nearby incredibly tiny toilet. Eleanor grimaced as she walked in and Nat closed the door behind them. It was cramped with the two of them in, but Nat stood to the side as she insisted that Eleanor be the first to freshen up seeing as she was so cold.

All that she could do was run her fingers through her hair and wash herself up a bit with water as well as brush her teeth with the toothbrush in her hoodie pocket. It wasn't exactly the most luxurious thing in the world. But she was soon finished after deeming that she couldn't make herself look more presentable, and now it was her turn to stand to the side as Nat freshened up. She tied her hair back and began to freshen up as well, though Eleanor didn't miss the long, blank looks that Nat gave herself whenever she looked in the mirror.
After dabbing her face dry with some paper towels, Nat turned to Eleanor, "I gotta make a call". The younger woman's head tilted as they had both agreed not to contact anyone other than Mason now, which would have been a strict in case of emergency scenario. "Who?".
"Ross", Natasha responded with a small smirk, though that only made Eleanor more confused who dipped her head slightly with a quirked brow to signal for Nat to elaborate, which she did. "I hid my suit somewhere before our trip with my tracker. I turned it on in the middle of the road trip to throw him completely off of our trail".
"When did you have time to do that?", she questioned genuinely having no clue how Natasha managed to pull that off. "I hid it when I was out getting your pain meds", Nat winced knowing that she had technically told a little white lie the day that she did and now she was confessing that to her wife in the world's smallest bathroom. Her anxieties increased tenfold when Eleanor looked up at the ceiling in thought with pursed lips, "So... when I was lying on our sofa in pain and you said 'sorry my love, the line was long'...", she trailed off with slightly wide eyes that put the fear of god into the ex-assassin facing her.
Natasha awkwardly cleared her throat, "Yes? But in my defence I really was trying to be quick that part wasn't a lie". Eleanor laughed and shook her head, moving forward to nudge Nat in the ribs, "You're a piece of work, Romanoff. You know that don't you? Make your call". Natasha laughed as well before getting her phone and pulling up security footage from the place where her suit was hidden.
Eleanor looked over her shoulder with interest at seeing all of the armed agents before moving back to the side again as Nat hadn't completely finished getting freshened up. It was only a few moments later that Natasha dialled Ross' number and placed her phone on the side of the sink with it on speakerphone so that Eleanor could hear too and switched the screen back to the security footage.
"Don't do this", Nat spoke with authority and shook her head slightly. "Do what?". Eleanor thought that the guy was being pretty clueless but stayed quiet in the corner anyway knowing that Natasha wanted to deal with this in a certain way considering she had the thing planned for weeks. The younger woman wasn't too thrilled about how Nat had sneaked around but she understood that when she was injured Nat had been trying to pull out all the stops to ensure that they would be safe.

"Come after me, I mean you're embarrassing yourself it looks desperate".
"Thought maybe you'd be calling me to cut a deal. 'Cause from my vantage point, it's the federal fugitive who's desperate". Natasha and Eleanor shared a look, they weren't desperate, not really. Their situation was very much under control, the thing that caught their intention was 'fugitive', not plural. Though they quickly shrugged it off, "From my vantage point, you look like you could use some bed rest, what is this, your second triple bypass?". Eleanor held in a snort at that as Ross paused for a brief second before responding.
"I wouldn't worry about me. We got Barton, we got Wilson and that other guy, the incredible shrinking convict", he started listing off, making Eleanor's jaw clench at him using their friends arrests against them. "Rogers is on the run, you got no friends. We know you got your wife, I'll give you that, but you can't run together forever, where are you two gonna go?". So he did know that Eleanor hadn't run off at the airport like they had first believed, or at least knew that they found each other afterwards. It didn't really affect them too much, but it would have been nice to know that they were on two wild goose chases instead of knowing that they were tracking two Avengers in one fell swoop.
"We lived a lot of lives before we met you, Ross. You shouldn't have gone through all this trouble, I'm done", and with that, she hung up. The way that Natasha switched to 'I' instead of 'we' towards the end made Eleanor move her lips to the side as she stared at her wife with sympathy. The 'I'm done' was clearly serious, which Natasha had probably been holding in, not wanting to show that she was too affected by everything. She made a mental note to try and talk to her about it when they were at the safe house.
As soon as the phone was hung up a metallic bang could be heard from outside which scared the crap out of Eleanor and even made Nat's head snap around to the door, but it was a ferry so random noises like that were expected. "Good to go?", Eleanor walked forward and gently took hold of Natasha's hands once she had put her hoodie back on. Though Nat quickly pulled her into a tight hug and hummed in contentment against her shoulder. The fast act took Eleanor by surprise but she quickly squeezed into the hug, appreciating the warmth just as much.
After a few minutes passed Nat pulled away and sent a smile, before turning around and walking out of the bathroom with Eleanor still in hand. They walked in single file through the tiny hallway and out into the open, hearing the squeaky metal door close behind them. Eleanor was once again reminded of how cold it was as they sailed by some mountains with snowy tops, and could practically feel every atom of her being shiver.
They made their way across the damp decking and towards the edge of the ferry, both standing with one arm resting on the edge, their other hands grasping each others. Though very soon after they settled at the edge Natasha pulled her phone out of her pocket and slyly slid it off of the ferry and into the deep, cold water below them. Eleanor had already disposed of her phone in the States, having had no use for it anymore, so she didn't have to worry about following suit with Nat.
"I'm cold", Eleanor breathed out again with a smile to try and ease the tension that had built since the phone call with Ross, and Nat merely shook her head and smiled, the sparkle in her eyes showing that it was working. "You're always cold детка", she stated as a fact and moved forward to wrap her arms around Eleanor's waist and hopefully share some of her body heat. "Mm you'll just have to keep me warm", the younger woman melted into her embrace, and Nat nodded with a laugh. She'd always keep her warm.
---
A short while later the ferry arrived and the duo were able to get into the car and start the rest of their journey, which was now a short one. Though much to Eleanor's dismay the car's heating took forever to kick in, and by the time it did Nat stopped the car outside of a corner shop and told Eleanor to 'get her ass out of the car'. If looks could kill. "I want a divorce", Eleanor mumbled as the two walked in with their coats now on, though the shop was surprisingly warm, causing her to mumble a quick "Nevermind".
They only needed a few short-term food supplies, and of course, a cup of coffee to take away each, so the small shopping trip only lasted about five minutes. Even as regular Avengers their faces were plastered on magazines and the news often, but even more so now that they are wanted people, so trips out in public needed to be kept short to minimise the risk of being recognised.
Natasha chucked the shopping bag into the back of the car before getting into the driver's seat as Eleanor got comfortable in her seat again, praying that the heating would kick in as they set off even further towards the mountains, the thick fog rolling over it making it look all the more ominous. It would be a further hour until they reached the safe house as it truly was in the middle of nowhere, which was great for hiding out, not so much for trying to get there. But the heating had kicked in and they had their coffees. So, with the ending in sight, the two were rather content to travel through with the lovely views, just thankful to be so close to safety.
A/n - Ahh finally starting the Black Widow movie! Very excited for this one

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. 8 142Breaking Horizons: Book 1: Snared Origins
Many want to learn things from a story, while others only want fast-paced wonders. We are human and we like to dream, we are alive and we want to feel. Don’t wander outside before knowing the inside. Even if this is slow, it gives you the reader, things to behold. This is a story but also knowledge. It isn’t fast or entertaining but makes you wonder. Everything starts from something unknown, we all want to know the untold. However, can you persevere if something starts being boring? Shouldn’t entertainment start from something unexciting? Open a door to what you might know or not. Learn to dream in my unhealthy abode. Start from the garbage since that’s the place where I belong. Welcome to Raccoon’s abode. Breaking Horizons: Breaching the Fourth Dimension. A slow story that will take you on a ride towards the unknown. PS: Will make things clear here. The actual main character is a human, the raccoon is a pet for the novel. So it isn't a raccoon Isekai or reincarnation as a raccoon. I still haven't added it to the story, as I am currently doing the intro. A long intro! So the start might feel off when you read it. The story will include many genres but starts with psychological stuff and low fantasy. The whole story is an enormous puzzle, but it starts with a tiresome beginning for many. There is a reason for that... If you want to know more about this story check my discord: https://discord.gg/rZs6mem You can ask what you want to know there. Or join a bigger and cooler server where many authors hang out: https://discord.gg/2hbvq8B (Its dungeon engineer and many cool stories' server) This is my own story, so its for me only. I will not have a schedule. I left it on hiatus for a while, can't write two stories, too busy.
