《The Younger Agent - Natasha Romanoff x OC》Chapter 47 - Snake Talks

The four quickly went back to Sam's place so that Eleanor could get back into regular clothes, and they could try and get the next part of the plan up and going. They needed Sitwell. That snake. Eleanor felt annoyed at herself for not knowing who had been secretly going behind SHIELD's back for all of these years, and the fact that there would be so many more HYDRA Agents still working. She was a spy who had been tricked, along with many others, for years, she had felt as though she failed.

Whilst she scolded herself in her head, she had gotten ready at the speed of light, not wanting to hold up the preparations, they didn't have all day. Whilst she was in the bedroom, the others had figured out where Sitwell was going to be within the next half an hour. There was a group of men that would be doing business in a hotel nearby, him included, so they would wait for him to exit before pouncing.

"Sam, you'll have to collect him, he'll recognise us", was Eleanor's first contribution to the conversation, which was mutually agreed upon. Even though they hadn't worked with Sitwell directly, Steve, Nat, and Eleanor's status within SHIELD was extremely high due to their Avengers experience, they'd be recognised easily.

"If you go right up to him though he can have people at his side within seconds, you'll have to ring him, I can programme your phone to have your caller ID show up as Pierce on his phone", Nat added on.

Steve furrowed his brows in thought for a second, "How are we going to guarantee that he will follow Sam's instructions?".

"Sniper", Nat shrugged, causing Steve's eyes to go wide, "It won't be loaded, we won't get anywhere with the guy dead, we can even just use the laser pointer, we just need to scare him", Nat reassured, which seemed to work as Steve nodded and gestured for everyone to get their things in order so that they could go and get Sitwell. Time is of the essence, they needed to be fast.

The first stop on their journey to Sitwell was unfortunately Natasha and Eleanor's apartment, they had an assortment of weapons thanks to Natasha's weapon storage. They didn't want to show their face near the building again for now though, they would quite like to be able to keep their apartment, so they gave Sam the key and gave him the code to access the storage part of their entry closet. They also gave him the code to Natasha's sniper rifle, it was in a case so that he would be able to carry it back to the car without too much suspicion.

It was an easy task, though Sam did come back slightly concerned about how many weapons the two had stored within their home. They just reminded him that they kept it for random situations that might occur, such as this one. Sam would have called them overly paranoid, but they had been right.

Natasha clutched onto the sniper case throughout the journey to the hotel, it had been a pretty expensive purchase, Natasha liked to own only high-end weapons, so Eleanor didn't blame her for wanting to keep it safe. Though she did roll her eyes playfully when Natasha made eye contact with her.

They parked down the road from the hotel so that when Sam escorted Sitwell to the car it wasn't in front of too many eyes. Sam situated himself with a drink on a table outside of the hotel, and Steve waited in the car so that Sam would have more backup when Sitwell would hopefully agree to get into the car when Sam ordered him to.

Eleanor and Natasha went up onto a nearby rooftop with a view over the hotel opening, and Natasha swiftly set up the sniper rifle, Eleanor went to try and help but Natasha lightly shoved her away. She just laughed at the fact that she wouldn't even let her girlfriend touch her precious weapon, but she complied and just stood nearby as she watched the fast setup.

It wasn't loaded with any bullets like they had promised Steve, and Natasha got into a position ready to turn the pointer on when needed. She was on comms with Sam, if Sitwell was having initial reluctance to go with them, Sam would mention his tie and then Nat would take aim.

He still hadn't shown outside of the hotel after a few minutes, which gave Eleanor plenty of time to think about important things. Such as food. "You know what I could really go for right now?", she asked Nat.

"What?", she smiled, turning away from the hotel to look at her girlfriend.

"A pepperoni pizza, I have a real hankering for pepperoni pizza".

"When this is all over... I promise to get you a pizza".

"You promise?", Eleanor asked softly and sat down next to Nat, who hummed in confirmation, before turning back to the hotel. "Yeah", Eleanor breathed out, "When this is all over". Eleanor didn't like thinking about when this would all be over really, she did wish for it to be over, but everything was going to be different. Fury would still be gone, SHIELD's reputation would probably go down to the point where they might need to get new jobs, and who knew if Natasha and Eleanor would be kept together, even if they managed to work for the same organisation.

Nat frowned at how down Eleanor suddenly sounded, but they both got distracted by Sitwell's group making an appearance and chatting before he was left alone. Eleanor smirked when he answered his phone, the plan so far was working, Nat's programming had worked, not that she had ever doubted it.

"There we go", Nat suddenly said as she turned on the pointer. Sam must have used the signal.

"Oh, he's shitting himself", Eleanor laughed when his head snapped up.

"Yup", Nat chuckled, "Alright, let's pack up and go". Eleanor tilted her head at the word "let's", as she knew that it was just going to be Nat packing. Natasha quickly packed the gun away and sprinted with Eleanor down to the car, she put the case into the boot of the car to keep it safe before hopping in the back. Eleanor was unfortunately in the middle, seated next to Sitwell.

"You two as well?", the man himself voiced, sounding irritated, "What is going on?".

"A work outing", Eleanor snapped as Sam started driving.

"No, seriously-", he started up again, making Eleanor turn to face him, unfortunately, she didn't really want to be looking at him, it disgusted her that he was working for HYDRA.

"Oh, I'm being deadly serious", she seethed which shut him up immediately. Nat pursed her lips slightly at the aggressive behaviour from Eleanor, she wasn't going to stop her though, the guy deserved it, Nat knew if she was next to him that she would be exactly the same.

The rest of the journey was in silence until Steve told Sam to park outside of some random building. Sitwell looked like he was going to make a run for it, but suddenly Steve grabbed his door and roughly took hold of him and started dragging him into the building. Sam looked a little out of his depth as he looked at Steve manhandling the Agent, so Eleanor winked at him to make the situation lighthearted as he got the Falcon suit out of the car, before following Nat and Steve up to the top of the building.

Sitwell kept trying to complain as they made their way up the stairwell, but Steve would shut him up by shoving him into the bannister. It would have been an amusing sight if the situation wasn't so dire.

The stairs were killing Eleanor slightly, but she wasn't going to voice that, she probably would have been relentlessly complaining about it if Sitwell wasn't there though. When they reached the door to the roof Steve chucked him through it, sending him flying to the floor, rolling once before he stood.

"Tell me about Zola's algorithm", Steve immediately marched after him, forcing him to walk back towards the edge of the roof, Nat and Eleanor not far behind.

"Never heard of it". Blatant lie.

"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?", Steve tried again, still marching forward.

"I was throwing up. I get seasick". Being a smart-ass whilst you're being guided towards the edge of a building was not a good idea Eleanor thought to herself as they continued.

Sitwell eventually reached the edge without realising it and stumbled backwards, he would have fallen if Steve hadn't grabbed him by his blazer and lifted him up. Eleanor had secretly wished that he tripped fully.

She was looking intently at what was taking place, but Nat looked away, almost disinterested in what the guy had to say. "Is this little display meant to insinuate that you're going to throw me off the roof? Because it's really not your style, Rogers".

"You're right", Steve let go, making Sitwell look very pleased with himself, in turn making Eleanor smirk at just how wrong his impression of the situation was. He looked a bit fearful as he met Eleanor's gaze and saw her smirking, it confused him. "It's not". Nat now turned her head to look back at Steve, she knew what was coming too. "It's hers".

Steve stepped out of the way to allow Natasha the space she needed to boot him off of the roof. Eleanor leaned over slightly and nodded as the edges of her mouth turned down, she was impressed with that kick, he went flying.

"Oh wait. What about that girl from accounting, Laura...", Nat started trying to remember the name.

"Lillian", Eleanor turned back to them.

"Lip piercing, right?", Steve added on.

"Yeah, she's cute!", Nat sounded a bit too enthusiastic for Eleanor's liking, so she coughed to try and get Nat's attention, who just fake pouted at her in response. The audacity.

"Yeah", Steve did a half nod, "I'm not ready for that".

"I get where you're coming from, I much prefer Jenna from IT", Eleanor smirked. This time it was Nat's turn to do an awkward cough as she stared at Eleanor.

Their conversation abruptly ended though when Sitwell's screams came back, Sam flew overhead in his Falcon suit, Sitwell in hand. Eleanor was impressed yet again, it was the first time she had seen a suit like this in action, and she thought that it was very cool. He then through Sitwell to the floor, harshly, and landed on the other side of the roof, turning around as the wings folded back in.

They all narrowed in on Sitwell, who suddenly started spilling all of the secrets to do with the algorithm, he really is a snake. He put his hand up in a pathetic way to defend himself whilst on the floor, "Zola's algorithm is a program for choosing Insight's targets".

"What targets?", Steve demanded, knowing full well that Sitwell would answer anything now.

"You!", he gestured at Steve, "A TV anchor in Cairo, the Under Secretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa City, Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, I mean even you too!", he gestured towards Eleanor this time. Nat took a small step forward to be ahead of her at hearing this, suddenly viewing Sitwell as a slight threat to her even though he could do no direct damage.

Eleanor's main focus was more on how it sounded that he was surprised that she was even considered to be on the list. Once again, the audacity.

"Anyone who's a threat to HYDRA. Now, or in the future".

"In the future? How could it know?", Steve continued.

Sitwell let out a sadistic laugh that made Eleanor's stomach churn slightly. "How could it not?", he stood. "The 21st Century is a digital book. Zola taught HYDRA how to read it".

They still didn't really know what he was getting at, which must have shown on their faces as he looked between them. "Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, emails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores!", he seemed to be getting more worked up as he continued talking. "Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past, to predict their future".

That sounded ridiculous, just because someone had the flu in 2009 and then got a good SAT score meant that they could predict whether or not that person was a threat to HYDRA?

"And then what?", Steve quietly voiced, all of them afraid to hear the answer.

Sitwell didn't answer though, instead, his breathing picked up and he started looking around and then down frantically, "Oh my God, Pierce is gonna kill me".

"What then?", Steve reiterated as he stepped forward and Sam grabbed the back of Sitwell's blazer to make sure that he knew there was no escape.

"Then the helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time".

Well, that was quite possibly the worst news that they could have gotten. Eleanor groaned a threw her head back, "Oh fuck me!".

The other seemed to have less vocal reactions, but the sentiment spread across the group. This was a disaster.
