《The Younger Agent - Natasha Romanoff x OC》Chapter 39 - Explosive Landings Hurt, Man

The next few minutes in the computer room were spent trying to deduct which information needed to be downloaded. There was a lot of information and they were unsure if Fury was after anything specific.
To be safe, they decided to download and transfer all of it, well as much as they could. The two of them said the file names that they were downloading out loud so that they weren't downloading things more than once, taking up unnecessary time, and space on the memory sticks.
"Natasha, El, Batroc's on the move. Circle back to Rumlow and protect the hostages", they once again heard Steve. They briefly turned to look at each other and raised their eyebrows before going back to looking at their monitors. Unfortunately, Fury's orders surpassed those of the Captain's, so they had no choice but to continue with what they were doing. Eleanor did start biting on her lips as she worked on accessing different folders, still not a big fan of being a double Agent to Steve. "Natasha, Eleanor". He didn't say anything else after this so they just acted as though they were in the clear.
"This feels like some shitty IT job", Eleanor joked as she watched the download bar move painfully slow now that she had selected all of the files she wanted to download. She had grabbed as much as she could without surpassing the large storage of the USB. Nat still had some space left so she was still leaning over the desk tapping away at the computer to access and download more intel.
Nat had agreed with Eleanor's comment, this was pretty tedious. Eleanor couldn't take staring at the snail-like download bar any longer, so she groaned and turned around with her arms loosely flopping to her sides. "You're a child", Nat laughed.
"Am not", Eleanor whined, proving Nat's point further, "This is just boring, I mean look, it's not even halfway through!". Nat hummed in acknowledgement to keep Eleanor satisfied, when in actual fact her focus was already back on the task at hand, and not her impatient girlfriend.
Eleanor had started humming 'The Big Bang Theory' theme tune, but then her computer started beeping when it was 7/8ths the way through the download, coming up with an error. "Uh oh", Nat mocked as Eleanor huffed.
She pushed the keyboard further back on the desk, and hopped up, manoeuvering to sit cross-legged in front of the monitor. She was tired of standing, and desk chairs were boring. Natasha didn't even question it, these things were normal with Eleanor.
Turns out the error was one of the folders that Eleanor had tried to download as a .zip had a document in there that she didn't have access to. She thought that she had already bypassed all of the restrictions, but evidently, this one was protected by something else, so she groaned again. She had to yet again begin using some coding skills to bypass the SHIELD restrictions. Luckily, she knew SHIELD inside and out, so she knew multiple ways in which to hack the organisation in very little time, hopefully, Fury wouldn't mind.
Eleanor had only managed to press a few keys before the Captain came flying through the closed door, on top of Batroc. She looked over as he punched him, immediately knocking Batroc out. Eleanor's eyes widened slightly at the fact that they had not been caught, but she quickly turned her attention back to the screen, the transfer was so close.

"Well, this is awkward", Nat spoke as she looked over at Steve. He turned to face the pair and was confused and quite angry at seeing Natasha leaning over the desk, and Eleanor sat on it, both typing away after they missed the rendezvous point.
He stood when Natasha turned back to the computer, "What are you doing?".
"Backing up the hard drive, it's a good habit to get into", Nat sarcastically answered as Steve continued making his way over to the pair.
Eleanor absentmindedly nodded, "Yup, wouldn't wanna lose all of the photos of the great barbecue of 2007".
They clearly only agitated Steve further by joking around, "Rumlow needed your help. What the hell are you doing here?".
He looked up at the overhead monitors to see the download bars, above that were the words 'File Transfer Sequence'. "You're saving SHIELD intel", he breathed out, it wasn't hard to deduce.
Eleanor had still been working on getting access to that document as Steve had been talking, and she had finally managed to get it to download after attempting various access codes and programmes to counter the protection. Her progress bar shot up fast through the 90s and to 100%, "Yes!", she shouted enthusiastically. Steve turned to her confused, thinking that she was answering his question, "Oh sorry, I just did something cool", she mumbled as she half-heartedly took out the USB.
Nat held back a laugh and decided to answer the Captain properly, "Yes, whatever we can get our hands on".
"Our mission is to rescue hostages".
"No, that's your mission", now was Nat's turn to be finished, she too removed her USB before turning to face Steve, "And you've done it beautifully".
She went to walk away and out of the room, so Eleanor began hoisting herself off of the desk to follow, but the two were stopped in their tracks when Steve roughly grabbed Nat's arm, "You just jeopardised this whole operation".
Eleanor's jaw tightened in anger, "Stop being so overdramatic and remove your hand", she deadpanned as she hopped over to the desk and took a few steps toward the pair.
The trio swiftly turned their heads to the entrance of the room though. Batroc stood and the click of a grenade pin being removed could be heard, and the grenade theory was confirmed as Batroc started to run as he tossed something towards them. Steve managed to hit it away with his shield, but it would still do a lot of damage if they didn't get out immediately.
He turned to Nat and boosted himself off the desk onto a platform behind them as he grabbed ahold of her. Eleanor had been further away, so he couldn't strategically grab her as he could with Nat, so he yelled "Grab on!", prompting her to run forward a few steps and jump as he did, wrapping her arms and legs around him as best as she could with Nat being there as well.
Natasha had gotten her gun out during this time and shot the glass window in front of them so that it would be easier for them to crash through.
It may have been easier to crash through the window, but that didn't make the landing any easier. Nat had ended up rolling away from Steve, and Steve had ended up rolling over Eleanor. Yeah, that wasn't very comfortable.

They had to quickly ignore the pain though and shuffle so that they were sitting against the wall, to shelter from any debris. They all groaned in pain and sighed in frustration. "Okay, that one's on us", Nat looked at Steve.
"You're damn right", Steve sounded very angry, and he quickly stood and stomped away, presumably to find the STRIKE team and make sure that the hostages were okay.
Nat's eyes followed Steve before he was out of sight, she rolled her eyes, this was the exact outcome that she didn't want. She turned to see if Eleanor was thinking the same, but just saw the younger woman stretching her back due to almost being turned into a pancake seconds before.
"You okay?", Eleanor spoke as she sensed Nat's eyes on her.
"Oh yeah, right as rain", she joked before standing up and shaking her limbs slightly to push the aches away. She then took a few steps over to Eleanor and put her hands under her armpits to lift her up off of the floor.
"I would like to know how his legs manage to hold his weight because fucking hell", Eleanor breathed out before twisting and popping her back now that she was standing.
"Mmm, lovely", Nat grimaced at the audible cracking sound coming from Eleanor's spine.
"It is, isn't it?", Eleanor gave a cheeky grin as they made their way out of the room and towards the top deck of the boat.
They were a bit slower than normal, but still moving at a relatively fast pace, just wanting to be on the jet and get off of this damned boat. They were relieved at seeing that the jet had managed to land on an empty part of the upper deck, so swiftly made their way up to it.
Eleanor's lips pursed when they had made their way onto the jet, just to see a permanent scowl imprinted onto Steve's face. It was obvious that at this point in time, any semblance of a friendship was over. She sighed in disappointment, but turned her attention back to nat, seeing her massaging her neck in slight pain, "Come on you. Ibuprofen time".
Nat agreed and allowed herself to be dragged to the medicine storage that's in every jet and immediately guzzled the pills that Eleanor provided. "Jeez, Nat, I could have poisoned you then and you wouldn't have known".
"You love me too much to do that", she playfully pinched one of Eleanor's cheeks and turned to find them a place to sit, preferably a quiet one, and tried to ignore the hole that the Captain was burning into the side of her skull.
---
The ride back was the most awkward experience of Eleanor's life, she did go up to the Captain to try and apologise, but he just responded with "I don't want to hear it right now", causing Eleanor to walk back to Nat looking like a wounded puppy. This in turn angered Nat for him making her feel worse than she already did, so Eleanor had to keep a firm grip on her arm to stop her from going over there and giving him a piece of her mind. All in all, not a fantastic time.
When getting off of the jet they rushed over to Fury's office to try and get there before Steve would inevitably rush over there himself. The way that they were walking looked rather intimidating to some of the other Agents in the area, especially with them being covered in ash, so the hallways cleared for them, making their journey a lot easier.
They were extremely nervous to be going into Fury's office with the news that Rogers had discovered their side mission, but at least they had managed to get nearly all of the intel from that boat, so it wasn't like they had completely failed, right?
After being told to enter, they both walked in. Their body language looked ever so slightly more sheepish compared to normal, which Fury of course immediately picked up on. "He found out, didn't he?".
Eleanor was trying to figure out if he sounded disappointed, or angry, or any other negative emotion, but the guy was a closed book 90% of the time, and right now he just looked void of emotion. "Unfortunately so, Sir. We're very sorry, we know how important it was for it to have been kept hidden.", Natasha apologised to the both of them as Eleanor rummaged in her pocket for the memory sticks.
"But, we did manage to gather intel, hopefully, what you want will be on one of these", Eleanor jumped in as she handed them over, trying to butter up the Director a little but before he said whether or not he accepted their apology.
"Thank you, Agents. And that's alright, the intel was the main thing I expected from you", he gave them a short-lasting, tight-lipped smile before looking at the memory sticks in his hand. The two were concerned at what may have been on those USBs, they'd never seen Fury be so tight over getting his hands on some intel that was owned by the organisation themselves anyway, but their concerns were soon pushed to the back of their heads. "You can have the rest of the day off, you only had a couple of hours left of the day anyway. I'll see you tomorrow". They smiled gratefully before making their exit.
They were both quite tired, so not having to work the rest of the day was welcome. Going from day, to night, back to day had also messed with their rhythms slightly, so it would be nice to relax and let their bodies catch up.
They couldn't be happy with their situation for long though, as they soon passed Steve in the hallway, who was marching to Fury's office, just as they had expected. They made an attempt at smiling at him as their paths crossed, but he just acted like they weren't even there. Great.
"Come on, let's just go home, nap, eat, watch TV, then have a nice deep sleep", Nat nudged Eleanor when they got into the elevator.
"That sounds nice", Eleanor smiled and rested her head on Nat's shoulder, trying hard not to take a nap then and there.
