《The Alpha's Little Runner》Chapter 12

I stood there in shock as we just looked at each other. Everyone around us seemed confused on how we knew each other. "Madelyn? Is that really you," Bryan finally spoke while taking a step toward me. I knew right then that this man in front of me was my brother I lost all those years ago.
I stepped out of Marcus's hold and quickly made my way to my brother, who was doing the same. As soon as we were about to step into each other's embrace, I was pulled back into Marcus. "Mine!" he growled out while pulling me way. I tried to get out of his grip, but he was too strong for me. "Marcus let me go," I said after failing to get out of his grasp. I looked up to him to see he was shooting daggers at Bryan who looked pissed. I happened to look over to see Clover looking like she was about to burst into tears.
I realized they didn't know we were brother and sister. I turned to look back at Marcus and get his attention. "Will you please let me go?" I asked looking at Marcus. "No. You are mine not his," he said while tightening his grip. Bryan spoke up as he realized the situation and could tell I was struggling, "Alpha, I understand she is yours, and I won't take her from you. I do ask that you let my sister go so I can hug her after all this time." Bryan looked at Marcus and then to me with shock still present in his eyes. Marcus's whole body seemed to relax before he realized what Bryan had said. "Wait, did you say sister?" Marcus said with shock written all over his face. I looked to Clover who looked relieved and started to make her way over to us. Bryan only nodded seeming to be lost for words as he looked to almost be in tears.
"Please let me go," I said barely above a whisper. I just wanted to badly to hug my brother, who I still can't believe is standing in front of me. Marcus quickly let me go, and I wasted no time in turning and running into Bryan's open arms. The feeling a familiarity washed over me as we stood there hugging each other. I hadn't realized I had started to cry till I felt the wetness on Bryan's shirt. I looked up to Bryan to really study his featured. It seemed as he didn't age much from the last time I saw him. He still had his brown hair and hazel eyes just like our dad.
"What happened to you? I tried to find you after everything happened, but I couldn't find your scent anywhere," Bryan asked after we finally pulled apart. I knew Bryan was going to be upset when I tell him what happened to me. He was always overprotective of me. "I think we should go inside and talk about all that," I said while stepping back. Marcus quickly pulled me to his side and leaned down to breathe in my scent.

As we made our way inside, I realized that some of the people in the group would be hearing this for the first time. There will also be details that no one else has heard. I know there are lots I will still leave out. I am not ready to talk about it, and I am not sure I ever will be. We made our way up to Marcus's office where everyone found a place to sit. In the room was Marcus, Everett, Clover, Bryan, Polly, Sam and myself.
I took a deep breath knowing I was about to have to live through this once more. Marcus rubbed my back in a soothing way to try and comfort me.
"This might me hard to hear so at any point someone can tell me to stop," I say while fidgeting with my hands. I knew I would one day have to speak on what happened to me, but I didn't realize it would be to my brother who I thought was dead.
"I am not even sure where to start at," I said while looking at everyone in the room. Everett was the first to speak up, "Just start from the beginning and say what you are comfortable sharing." I smiled at him feeling better. Marcus growled lowly at Everett which caused me to smack his shoulder. "He was just helping so be nice." Marcus pulled me down to his lap to hold me while I started talking.
"I guess I will start from the day we got attacked," I said while looking at Bryan who looked like he was hanging onto every word I was saying.

By the time I was done sharing everything I was going to that night everyone around the room had mixed emotions. I couldn't bare to look at anyone in the room. While telling the story, I had gotten off of Marcus's lap to pace around the floor. I snuck a peak at everyone before looking back down.
Clover and Polly were crying from what I had told them. Everett and Sam looked sorry for me. Bryan looked torn between so many emotions it was hard to tell what he was feeling. Marcus had no emotion at all. It looked like he was trying to keep his cool. The tick in his jaw let me know just how angry he was.
The one thing I noticed all of them doing was not looking at me. It was like they were afraid to look at me. I knew what I had told them would make them see me different, but I didn't expect them to not even want to look at me. I felt alone in that moment and started to cry.
I needed to get out of here. I know I just found my brother after all this time, but I didn't want anyone looking at me. I quickly made my way to the door of the office. I was out the room and down the stairs before anyone even noticed. "Mads where are you going," Bryan was calling after me. I knew it was him because he was the only one to ever call me that.

I was about to run out the front door when it was swung open from outside, and I ran into someone. The person caught me before I could hit the ground. I had so many emotions running through me that I just broke down right in this man's arms. "What is going on? It is alright dear what happened?" the person tried to ask me questions but all I could do was cry.
I heard someone come up beside the man I was crying on "Alex what is going on," it was the voice of a lady. She didn't sound jealous more worried than anything. If I had to take a guess, then I would say they are mates.
I heard people coming down the stairs and the man quickly pushed me and the woman behind him. "What is going on here?" the man's voice boomed over whoever was coming down the stairs. I realized his voice held authority, and I was shocked. This was the former Alpha. This was Marcus's parents.
"Mom. Dad. That is my mate Madelyn and if you could please let me see her that would be great," Marcus said as he made it down the last few steps. I peaked out from behind Marcus's dad to see that everyone was coming after me.
"We will not. She came running down here crying trying to run away. You have a lot of explaining to do young man," Marcus's mom said while stepping out from behind her mate. She looked very mad at Marcus who looked scared to be honest. It was funny which caused me to laugh.
I stepped out from behind his father to try and save Marcus from his mother's wrath. "It is alright. I was the one who was running away from everyone," I said trying to calm her down. "Yes well that doesn't explain to me why you were so upset." Marcus's mother said coming and giving me a hug.
"Well I was just telling everyone what had happened to me while I was kidnapped. After I finished telling them all, no one would look at me. I thought they wouldn't want to keep me here. I thought that they found me disgusting," I said while stepping away from her grasp and hugging myself. I looked down so no one could see that I was holding in tears.
Bryan quickly stepped forward and pulled me into his chest, "Mads I would never feel that way about you. I was just trying to process what you had just told me. I felt like if I tried harder, you wouldn't have been taken by those rogues, and you never would have went through what you did. I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that." I heard everyone else agree with Bryan on what he was saying.
Marcus stepped forward and said nothing but pulled me to his chest. I just let him hold me because it calmed me down. I was thankful that he was doing this, but I still don't know how he feels about me after telling him more of what happened to me.
"Madelyn I would never ever want you to go away. I care about you so much. I would have no idea what I would do if I lost you after finding you. I thought I would never find you, but now that I have I am not letting you go. I love you already in the short amount of time that I have known you. I know you might not love me back and that is okay. I just want you to know there is nothing that could make me change my mind about you." Marcus said all this with so many emotions swirling in his eyes. I could tell he was being genuine with his words.
I wasn't sure if I loved him yet, but I knew I cared for him a great deal. "Well not that we have all that sorted out I want to properly introduce you to my parents," Marcus said while turning to face them. This should be interesting.
