《The Alpha's Little Runner》Chapter 9

I am starting this chapter with a warning for those not comfortable with abuse. This chapter does contain memories of Madelyn's abuse from the rogues. I won't go into too many details on some parts just wanted to give a warning.

We had fallen asleep because it was so late. The doctor had said it would take some time for all the test to come back anyway. I slowly was waking up to find a sleeping Marcus and Everett sitting in the chairs against the wall. They told me that they didn't plan to leave my side until the doctor said I could leave. I tried to stand to go to the bathroom when the boys shot up out of their sleep.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Marcus asked while scanning me to see if I was okay. "I was only trying to go to the bathroom. You can sit back down." Once I got down in the bathroom, I came back out to see breakfast was brought to us. I quickly sat down and started to eat not realizing just how hungry I was. I made small talk with Marcus and Everett while we ate.

After a while, the doctor came back in with my results. She looked at me with sorrow in her eyes. I figured she would be able to see all my past injures from where they might not have healed correctly. When the rogues would beat us, usually something ended up broken. There was nothing we could do but hope it would heal quick enough for the next beating.

"I am not sure how to say this, so I suggest you take a seat Alpha," the doctor said to Marcus. He had been standing by my side when she came in. He pulled a chair over to my bed and sat down while holding my hand for comfort. I wasn't sure if that was more for him or me. "Please continue Dr. Lacy," Marcus said while squeezing my hand a little. It was a sweet gesture that I returned.

"What I am about to show you is shocking. I am sure Madelyn already knew what most of her injuries were but maybe not the full extent of them." The doctor, who I now know is Dr. Lacy, said while putting my x-ray pictures of the light board. You could see where my bones had been broken and healed and broken again. Almost all of my bones had been broken at some point during those years of hell. I got up to get a closer look at the x-rays. I knew how I got each and every one of those breaks. The one that I remember the most was when my legs got broken the first time. I felt so hopeless because they not only took away my ability to walk but took away any innocents I had left. I will never forget it.

I knew I was going to get in trouble this time. I had tried to run away again. Usually, they would beat me till I blacked, but I had a feeling this time would be different. I knew they were tired of me trying to get free, but I would never stop.

I was thrown back into my cell by the guards. The one who done most of the beatings was Jake. Everyone knew when Jake was around someone was going to get hurt. He quickly stepped into my cell before closing the door. I usually didn't beg, but I was truly terrified of what would happen.

"Please don't hurt me. I promise I won't try to run anymore," I tried to plead only to be slapped across the face. I quickly lose my balance and fell to the floor.

"Begging won't save you this time little one," Jake said before bending down and punching me in the face. I was used to being hit but not by Jake. It was like his hit were a lot stronger. I felt the taste of blood in my mouth from where he busted my lip. I started to cry but knew there was nothing I could do. He would taunt me while beating me.

"No one wants you," kick to the ribs.

"You are nothing," punch to the stomach.

"No one will love you," punch to the face.

This continued for what felt like hours. I was slowly losing conscious, but I knew he wouldn't let me sleep. He would stop long enough for me to recover slightly just to start again.

"You know we are really tired of you running away so we are going to fix that," Jake said while stomping down onto my legs. I could hear the sound of my bones breaking as I screamed in pain. He continued to do so on my right leg before doing the same to my other. I knew I wouldn't be able to walk for a while. Jake stood back and looked at me laying on the floor in pain. He seemed almost as if he was proud of what he had done.

He then grabbed me by my hair and started to drag me from my cell. I yelled in pain feeling as though all my hair was being ripped from my scalp. I knew I couldn't fight back because I had two broken legs and was beaten so badly. He started to drag me to the one room I was hoping I would never go into.

"Alright boys lets have some fun with this one. She can't fight back now," Jake said while laughing at me. I realized what he meant and started to try to fight back. I knew I was going to try and fight against them now. But as I tried to move, I screamed in pain from my legs. I knew there was no chance of me escaping what was about to happen to me.

I shook the memory away not wanting to remember the next part. I hadn't realized I was crying and shaking until Marcus was standing beside me wiping my tears away. "Are you okay my dear? What's wrong?" Marcus asked while leading me back to the bed and sitting with me.

"It was just I was remembering what happened to me. I don't want to talk about it right now so please don't ask," I all but pleaded with everyone in the room. I could tell they wanted to know more, but they didn't ask me. I was thankful and looked to Dr. Lacy to continue with her findings.

"Well as you can see, this shows all your broken bones that you have had in the past. I must say, Luna, you are very strong. Most wolves wouldn't be able to handle that much pain," this caused Marcus to growl and hold me closer to him.

Dr. Lacy continued on after Marcus had calmed down, "your brain scans came back normal along with your heart scans. Your blood work is a different story. It seems as though you have traces of silver and wolfsbane in your blood. I am curious as to how it got there. The amount in your system is faint and should filter out with the next month." I was in shock at what she said. I knew there was silver and wolfsbane in my system, but I figured it would all be out by now.

"The rogues would use silver and wolfsbane to keep our wolves at bay. They didn't want anyone shifting or try to overpower them. We would get a dose every week. It was always enough to last through the week and keep us in line," I said while looking down at my hands. Marcus was shaking beside me. His eyes had gone black, and I knew that Ian was in control. He held me tighter to him trying to calm himself down.

"I won't let anyone hurt you like that every again. Do you hear me? I will find the men who did this to you and kill them. Everett we will start first thing tomorrow on trying to track them down," Ian said while still trying to calm down. Everett only gave a nod while looking pissed off himself. He quickly got up and left the room. Dr. Lacy was soon to follow leaving only me and Marcus only with each other.

I should have been nervous about being alone with him, but I felt safe. I knew he wouldn't hurt me. I brought my hands up to his back and started to rub soothing circles on his back. I could tell he was calming down more because he quit shaking and his breathing evened out.

"Madelyn, I promise that I will never let anything happen to you. Me and our pack will protect you from anyone who thinks they can hurt you again," Marcus said while looking into my eyes. I could tell he was being truthful with his words. I was still nervous on whether Marcus would still accept me with how broken I was. He knew parts of what happened to me but not everything. Would he want me after he learned about what happened to me?

"But Marcus you shouldn't want..." before I could finish my sentence Marcus leaned down and kissed me softly as though he didn't want to scare me. I was in shock as I had never been kissed before. Marcus went to pull away, but I quickly kissed him back. I know from my past I should be scared, but I knew he wouldn't hurt me like those rogues did.

Marcus pulled away from the kiss and rested his forehead against mine. He had so many emotions running through his eyes as he just looked at me. I was blushing like crazy because I wasn't expecting him to do that.

"I've wanted to do that since I laid eyes on you. I just knew I might scare you if I did," Marcus admitted to me. This caused me to giggle because he started to blush slightly.

"I have something I wanted to ask you," Marcus said slightly nervous. I only nodded and looked at him to continue.

"Will you be mine?" Marcus asked me while looking hopeful. I thought I would need time to think, but I knew my answer.

"Yes."
