《Taken》Chapter 42

I wasn't quite sure where we should bring Liam. I knew the pack house might be good because there was more space but I wasn't really familiar with the place. The tree house would probably be better though because I knew it and Liam seemed to love trees. I had noticed a fondness in him for them while we were in the tree together. I felt he was somehow connected to them better.
"Can we go to the tree house? I believe he would like it there much better." I asked Adam this on our way to the pack house.
"Of course. Whatever you think may be best for him."
I smiled at him. I also knew there was plenty of things for Liam to do in the smaller second part of the tree house since that was where Adam use to play with all his toys so it was good.
"Let's first go back to the pack house though and make sure everything is in order before going back there." Adam continued. "We can pick up a few things for him while we're there."
I agreed since I knew there were some things Liam would need, like clothing. But otherwise, I wasn't quite sure. I suppose others would know.
Once we made it back to the pack house Adam directed me inside and away from the others. We were going our separate ways. "I'm going to take you to Anne. I know she'll know what we'll need. You'll stay with her and figure it all out while I take care of some pack business."
"Okay," I agreed. He then continued taking me somewhere in the pack house.
He brought me to the pack daycare center. There was many small children running about making noise. This caused Liam to wake up. When he saw all the children, he wasn't quite sure what to do. It looked like he wanted to play with them but instead hr held onto me tighter. "Do you want to play with them? It's okay if you do. You can. I'll just be right over here. If you don't, then you can stay with me."
It took him another long moment to respond but he replied, "I want to play."
I gave him a big smile. "Okay Liam. Go play." I sat him down and he ran off to play with the other children. I watched him with a smile on my face. I wanted him to be happy any way he could. He deserved it.
Just then Anne walked over. She had been dealing with a mess when we walked in earlier. "Hello Alpha, Luna. What can I do for you?" She said this with a bow.
I was uncomfortable with this. "Please, just call me Mia."
Anne smiled at me. "Okay Luna. Anyways, is there something you wanted?"
I looked back at Adam. He just smiled back at me saying I had this. He then came up and kissed my head. "You got this. I'll be leaving now. I'll be back as soon as I can." He then left without another word.
I turned my attention back to Anne then. "You know the little boy I brought in?"
Anne looked back at Liam who was having fun with some of the children and playing tag. "Yes. What about him?"
"Well, I need things for him to take care of him for a while but I'm not quite sure about what it is everything I need."
"That's alright. I'm sure we'll figure everything out. Come on. Let's see what we can get you."

Anne led me to the back and opened a closet. In there, there was a lot of extra clothing and other things left behind and never claimed.
She looked over all the clothing and back at Liam a few times, I would guess to think of what size he might wear. I checked on Liam too to make sure he was having fun. He seemed to be but there also was a sad smile on his face and it looked like he wanted to sit down a not play a couple of times.
That was truly heartbreaking and I knew I never wanted to see him look that way again.
"Okay," Anne said interrupting my thoughts, "I'm going to give you a few items in different sizes to make sure something fits. There should be enough of each to get by for a few days. Whatever doesn't fit, just bring back here. He's going to need some new clothes though. These are not going to cut it. But they should be enough to get started."
Anne handed be a couple bags of clothing in what looked like his size. There were also a couple of other items but not much. "Thank you," I smiled gratefully, "this should be enough to get started."
"I would give you more but I don't have much and I think you have everything else he needs already. Now, if you don't mind me asking Luna, why do you have the boy? Did someone ask you to take care of him for them while they were away?"
I sighed and shook my head. "I wish that was the case Anne but it's not. We found the boy out lost in the woods and he said his parents were dead."
"Oh! The poor boy! It's so heartbreaking. I'm glad you're here Luna to take care of him. I know some people would feel bad for him but they won't take him in. They would just send him off someplace else or call the authorities and let them take care of him. There are no words to express how happy I am that you're doing this for him."
"Yeah, he needs this. I'm also going to try and find his other family. They should know what happened and he can be with them."
"That's great Luna. And I'm going to add this. I know you ate going to be a great Luna. You already are."
"Thank you," I smiled but it was sad because I was watching Liam. When he saw me watching him, he quit his game and ran over to me. He wrapped his arms around my legs. I bent down a picked him up. "Is everything alright Liam?"
He shook his head. "No. I want to go."
"Okay, we'll go." I turned to Anne. "Thanks again for everything."
"No problem Luna. I was happy to help. I hope everything goes well for the boy, you, and Alpha."
"Thank you. I hope everything goes well for you here. And please, I really mean it, call me Mia."
"Okay Luna. Now, you better get going. Liam wants to leave so you better leave." I rolled my eyes at her when she called me Luna but I agreed with her on the rest so I left after she handed me the bags again.
I held Liam in one arm and the bags in my free hand when I left and traveled through the halls until I reached the living room. I sat down on the couch and sat the bags down at my feet also. "Is it alright if we wait here for Adam to show up Liam?"

All Liam did was nod and adjusted himself until he was sitting comfortably in my lap.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" He didn't respond so I told him, "I guess we can just sit here then until he shows up unless there is something else you want to do."
Liam shook his head so we just stayed there sitting on the couch until Adam showed up. I knew he would find us really easy because he was a werewolf. He should have no problem at all. Thankfully, it didn't take as long as I thought would. He showed up a few minutes after we sat down.
Adam came to a stop in front of us. "You guys ready to go?"
I nodded. I knew for sure Liam was but I still asked if he was ready to go. He nodded in response and I stood up with him in my arms. I bent down to pick up the bags but Adam beat me to it. He scooped them up and put one hand on my back. "I got it. Now let's go." I started walking toward the door and left the house. When then started toward the tree house.
On the way there, I told Adam what Anne had given us. He thought it was a good idea. We were quickly coming up on the tree house now.
"We're almost there," I told Liam softly, "it's just right up ahead."
Liam looked up from my shoulder where he had placed his head for most of the journey. When he saw the tree house, his eyes widened with awe. A smile like one I hadn't seen on him before lit up his face. It was the best expression in the world and I instantly knew bringing him here was a great idea.
"I want down," I heard Liam say. I grinned as I saw the big smile on his face. I let him down and he took off running toward it. I saw him search for a way up to get there but the disappointment showed clear on his face when he didn't see one.
"Liam!" I called when we were close. "Come here. I want to show you something."
He slowly walked toward us, obviously still sad about not finding a way up. Once he was beside me, I turned him around and pointed toward the tree. "Watch."
Adam walked toward the tree and sprinkled the gold dust on at the bottom. He then pressed a button on the remote and out came the stairs.
At this, I saw Liam's face brighten once again. He ran toward them and raced up the steps even as they were still coming out.
I laughed as I watched him do this. He was halfway up the stairs by the time they were done coming out. He really was fast like the guard said, faster than any little boy I've seen.
When I glanced at Adam, there was a look on his face, one I wasn't quite sure of. I was going to ask him about it but Liam had reached the top already and was wanting inside. I just gave him a look instead and he shook his head and said, "later."
We ascended the stairs and I told him that we needed to find someone related to Liam. I told him the same thing I told Anne and he agreed with me. When we reached the top, we quit talking about it. By this time, Liam had already figured out how to get inside and the hatch door was wide open.
When we came up through it, I saw him touching and looking at everything he saw.
I smiled when I saw him do this. He was exploring and that was good.
"Hey, Liam. Do you want to see more?"
"More?" I nodded. "Yeah. I do. Where is it?"
"This way." I showed him out the door and onto the deck to show him the bridge that connected with the other building.
"Coooool!" Liam exclaimed and ran across the bridge.
"Be careful!" I called as I walked across after him. I did not want him to fall. He didn't slow down though and was already across the bridge an on the deck to go inside.
I quickly reached him before he could open the door and opened it for him. He ran inside and looked around with wide eyes. "This is awesome!"
I watched him as he ran around and explored this building. After he explored every room, I asked him, "are you hungry?" I knew he must be hungry. He hasn't ate all day and who knew how long before we found him.
He nodded. "Yeah." He was quiet as he said this, like he was shy to admit it.
"It's okay. Do you know what you want to eat? How does mac and cheese or grilled cheese sound?"
Liam nodded in agreement. "Mac and cheese, please."
"Okay. Do you want to watch a movie while I make it?"
This time he did say yes and he sat down in the middle of the couch right in front of the TV.
I turned the TV on and asked, "do you want to watch Netflix?" When he nodded I flipped to that and quickly made a channel just for kids. I then handed him the remote. "Think you can work it and pick a movie yourself?"
"Yeah, I've done this before. Thank you."
I smiled, "you're welcome." I then headed back over to the kitchen and started making mac and cheese. I wish I knew everything he liked but I didn't. Luckily most kids like this so I knew it was a safe bet when I offered it.
I heard him choose a movie while I made the mac and cheese. Adam came up beside me and leaned against the island counter, watching. A thoughtful expression was on his face.
"What is it?" I asked very curious about what has been bugging him today ever since we got Liam.
"Nothing," Adam shook his head, "I'll talk to you about it later. I promise."
"Alright," I agreed then asked, "do you want some too?"
"Yes please." He then wiggled his eyebrows in a playful way and teased, "whatever you want to give me."
My face turned red and I slapped the back of his head. "Ow! Really?" He rubbed the back of it where I slapped him.
"Yes, really. Stop making jokes like that, especially when there are children around."
He pouted but agreed. "Fine. But I would like some mac and cheese too."
"Are you going to eat a whole box again?" I raised an eyebrow and pointed my ladle at him. He had ate most of the box last time I made it and barely left any for me when I had made it for myself. Luckily I made a grilled cheese after that for me and made sure not to make him one.
"Probably," he grinned, "I'm a big grown werewolf after all. I eat a lot."
"Tell me about it," I rolled my eyes, "at this rate you'll become fat." I added two boxes into the boiling water and stirred it. I then hit his stomach with my hand but the meaning backfired because his stomach was rock hard and it even kind of hurt my hand. "It would not be so pretty if you became fat," I joked. I honestly wouldn't care if he got fat or not, I would still love him just the same.
"I don't think that's going to happen," Adam smirked and lifted his shirt up a bit to show his great six pack, "see? It's not going to happen any time soon."
I grabbed his shirt and pulled it back down before I could drool over the sight of it and make a fool of myself. "Keep that shirt down! We have a child in here with us now. Remember Liam?" We both were at least talking quiet enough so Liam couldn't hear but he was so engrossed with the movie he was watching he would not have noticed the difference.
"And if Liam wasn't here what would you do?"
Instead of answering him, I just hit him again but with the ladle this time. "Stop it, really. You don't want an angry mate on your hands, now do you? Because you're really pushing my buttons here." I washed the ladle after I hit him with it so I could stir the mac and cheese again.
"No ma'am," he grunted after rubbing the spot I hit him. "I would rather keep my cuddle spot next to you in bed than sent out to the couch cause you're angry with me."
"Well, at the rate you're going, you'll be on the couch." I had put him on the couch once before because I got really mad at him and he did not like it all. I didn't really like it either but it had to be done and the effect was much less on me than on him. I would do it again to if it taught him a lesson. "Now be a good boy and you won't be. Oh, this reminds me. Do you have another bed for Liam possibly?"
Adam shook his head, "no, but I can have someone bring one over." I put Adam in charge of the mac and cheese then while I got other food out to make it a meal. Once that was finished, I took over from Adam again.
Not long after this I had everything finished up and I made a plate for Liam. I brought it over and sat it down on the table. "Liam. Come and eat."
Liam came and sat down at the table. He didn't pause the movie so it was still running. I grabbed the remote and paused it so he could eat. Then I sat down next to him. As soon as I sat down he dug into his food. He really was hungry. He was shoving everything into his mouth like he couldn't get enough. This made me wonder again when the last time he ate was.
Adam sat down at the end of the table next to me and was also surprised at Liam's eating.
We ate in mostly silence but I gave Liam a bit more food because it looked like he really wanted it. I knew I was going to talk to him at some point, but not today. When he finished eating he asked if he could go back to the movie. I couldn't deny him so I let him.
Liam left the table and started the movie again. I finished eating with Adam not to long later and we both worked on cleaning up. It was a comfortable silence as we worked.
When we finished, I glanced over at Liam to find him fast asleep on the couch. I smiled softly and went over to him. "I'm going to take him to bed." I told Adam.
He didn't argue with me as I picked him up carefully after I paused the movie and brought him into our room and laid him on the bed. He snuggled up into it and I covered him up with the blanket. I made sure he was content and well taken care of before leaving the room.
Adam was sitting on the couch. I scurried over to him and curled myself up against him. He wrapped his arm around me and I laid my head on his chest.
I figured now was good opportunity to ask him what has been bothering him today so I asked him, "what is it you want to talk about?"
"It's about Liam."
