《Taken》Chapter 31: (Adam's P.O.V.)

It has been almost two weeks since I was last able to hold my mate, a little over a week since she was taken away from me. If I never let her go, she may not be away from me and I could have protected her better.
I was about to go get my men together to attack the vampire compound today when I heard a commotion outside my door. I looked over just in time to see a girl burst through the door with fury. She had both brown hair and eyes and if looks could kill, I would be six feet under.
Behind her was my beta trying to keep her under control but he was doing a terrible job by the looks of it. I didn't have time to put up with either of them right now, whoever the girl was could wait, but my anger, along with my wolf, got the better of me. I growled at her, "who are you and what are you doing in my office!?"
I heard my beta growl and take a step toward the girl but one deathly look from her stopped him in his tracks. "You are Adam correct? Mia told me about you." She looked unfazed from by my anger when she said this and my whole body froze at the mention of my mate.
In a flash, I had her pinned up against the wall as I growled menacingly at her. I pinned my forearm to her throat as I growled, "how do you know my mate?"
There was still no fear in her eyes and she radiated confidence as she looked into my eyes and replied, "I come from the same place she did. I know how to get her out of there. If you want your mate in your arms today, I suggest you unhand me. Not only that, you'll have an angry beta on your hands if you don't."

I leaned in toward her, "why should I believe you? How do I know you're not lying and with the enemy?"
She rolled her eyes, "I know how bad of a hell hole that place is but I fear Mia may have it worse. I haven't been allowed to see her for the past few days. They've taken her. I don't want her to be there or in anymore pain. I don't want anyone to be there. All those vampires could burn in hell for all I care. Besides, I would never go against my mate or my friend."
I glanced over at Dylan to see him shaking with barely controlled rage as he stared at my arm locked against the girls throat. It clicked suddenly and I slowly let go of her. But I still growled, "fine, but if I find out you are not on our side, I will not hesitate to kill you."
"Noted, now tell me what you plan to do. She is being let out today so today is the opportune time."
As I discussed my plan hesitantly with her, my mind kept wondering off to my mate and what they possibly could be doing to her. I unconsciously snapped a pencil, not even realizing it was in my hand to begin with, and I felt splinters going into my hand but there was no pain. The only pain I felt was the loss of my mate.
The girl would make comments about my plan about what could be fixed and what could be done a bit differently. She was also added to the plan and I just prayed we could trust her because she was a vital part of the plan.
"It's all set," she agreed when it was done and she looked up at me. "I'll give you the signal to go when it is the right time."

"Wait," I said, looking a bit conflicted, "how do we know when you give the signal?"
"Right," she replied and a worried look came across her face as she tried to think. She looked over at Dylan and said sometime I never would have imagined. "Mark me now. That way we have a chance to communicate and then you can relay that to Adam."
It was smart, but I never would have suggested it. Once you're marked, there is no turning back. When I looked at Dylan, he didn't seem to have a problem with it because his eyes darkened to show his wolf. I was the same way when I first saw Mia. I wanted to make her mine as soon as I set sights on her but that didn't really turn out well.
"Are you sure?" Dylan asked, "there's no turning back at all once I do mark you."
The girl just shrugged, "I'm already stuck with you forever, might as well just hurry up the process and mark me already."
Dylan had traveled to her side as she talked and moved her hair away from her neck. He leaned and kissed her neck softly, "if you're positive."
The girl nodded her head, "I am. We need to save Mia. That's our main goal and if this is the way to do it, then I don't care."
Without another word, Dylan bit into her neck, marking. I turned away to let them have their moment and heard a gasp. I knew for sure that meant pleasure was rippling through her body. It was not hard to imagine what was going on. When I heard they were done, I turned around to find the girl still standing up and alert, unlike Mia when she had passed out, but that was also partly do to because I have half of a witches blood running through my veins and I was an alpha.
"Now, let's go." The girl grabbed Dylan's hand and just as she was pulling him out the door I stopped them.
"Wait, what's your name? I should have asked you earlier."
The girl just smiled and replied, "it's Lia," before walking out the door.
