taehyung looked at the older girl, his vision became weird, his head hurt and he felt dizzy.
before he could even respond, he slowly fell to the ground, his eyes closing shut, he blacked out and darkness consumed him
-
taehyung slowly opened his eyes to find himself in an unfamiliar room. nobody seemed to be there, he sat up, trying to find out where he was.
he then realised, he was in a hospital. the boy looked down to his uncovered arms, seeing strange marks.
"what? but i thought they all were fading. they look new? i don't recognise some of these..." taehyung said to himself. questioning what was happening.
he looked to see his phone laying on a table, he weakly grabbed it and switched it on, looking at the date displayed on the lockscreen. september 8th.
"but i left jungkook's on the 10th? what's going on?" he said yet again to himself. even more confused them before.
taehyung placed his phone back and lied down. multiple thoughts running through his mind.
where's kookie and everyone else? what happened to them? did they leave me? how did i get here?
taehyung kept thinking to himself, confused about everything. he wondered what happened to him.
he looked down to the scars and bruises on his body, there were many. some were new, some were old. he never remembered getting any new bruises or scars.
suddenly, the door gently opened and two people came in.
"tAEHYUNG! OH MY GOD YOU'RE AWAKE! THANK GOD" one of the voices yelled as a boy made his way to the confused boy and hugged him. almost suffocating taehyung.
"j-" taehyung said before getting cut off by the other woman in the room.
"t-taehyung..y-you're finally awake" tears fell from her eyes as she made her way to the two boys.
"what happened? jimin, where are the others?" taehyung said questioning both his mom and jimin, still unsure of what was happening. jimin let go of the boy and spoke.
"well..we found you on a road not too far from your house and you fainted or something. there were new scars on you and you seemed pretty beat up. you've been like in a sort of coma for a while. and well, we didn't find you. jungkook did, he was walking around and saw you. he recognised you as one of the students in our class, he didn't know you but wanted to help and took you to the hospital. your dad was arrested not too long ago."
taehyung's eyes widened, the new information confused him even more.
"so...everything w-was a dream? it can't be! that means..." jungkook and i never got close and we never texted each other. taehyung thought to himself.
"what was a dream?" his mom said, the other two in the room were curious.
"i-i got close to j-jungkook and his friends were close with mine and dad was back. then a lot of things happened. i-it can't have been a dream. it felt to real!" the now crying boy said, struggling to keep his tears in.
"n-none of that happened...tae, i-i'm sorry. don't cry. sometimes we just have to face reality. tell us more about your dream." jimin said.
taehyung nodded and started talking about everything, embarrassed about some things, sad about other things and laughed at weird things that 'happened'.
a doctor came in and did whatever they do in a hospital because this author hasn't been in a hospital for her own needs much.
-
it was a few weeks later, taehyung had gone home and was now getting ready for his first day of school in a while. most of his scars and bruises didn't stand out as much and nobody would really take them to mind.
however, there was one scar that stood out and taehyung remembered where it was from. it was a few centimetres under his left eye. it didn't hurt at all but was noticeable and the most horrible one.
taehyung continued getting ready, fixing his hair and rushed downstairs. smiling at his mom.
he grabbed the piece of toast and smiled at her, yelling a 'thanks! i love you bye!' he took his things and headed out the door, not in much of a rush, he walked slowly and looked around.
he ate the piece of toast. wondering about everything. it was confusing.
he thought about a lot of things, mainly jungkook. taehyung wasn't over the fact that everything was a dream. it hurt him that his chances of jungkook liking him were low. maybe he couldn't even be loved.
taehyung shoved that thought to another place in his brain and carried on walking. his hands were stuffed in his pockets.
he finally made his way to school, seeing jimin smiling at him. taehyung made his way to the slightly shorter boy, smiling as well at him.
the two walked together, talking about random things, they made their way to their other friends.
taehyung was surprised seeing hoseok, namjoon, seokjin, yoongi and jungkook talking. he slightly smiled and remembered how in his dream yoongi and jimin were together.
they all turned their heads to the two best friends making their way to the group. everyone was shocked when they saw taehyung.
"TAEHYUNG! MY BABY! ARE YOU OKAY? THANK GOD YOU DIDN'T DIE ON US!" seokjin yelled first. everyone else started yelling and disturbing people around them.
taehyung smiled and greeted most of them, unable to bring himself to talk to jungkook. he answered their questions and talked with them.
after everyone had calmed down. they talked about a random topic. jungkook slowly made his way to taehyung, the rest of the group ignoring the two youngest.

"so...you're finally awake. i'm glad you're awake. it wasn't nice seeing you hurt. i feel sorry for what happened." jungkook said to taehyung, smiling at him.
"o-oh, y-yeah i am. it's fine i guess, it's life so don't be sorry. th-thank you for helping me." taehyung said, smiling back at the other, trying not to be sad.
before anything else could happen, the bell rang, signalling classes had started. everyone said their goodbyes and went to their own classes.
taehyung and jungkook walked together in silence, taehyung not wanting to think about his dream.
-
school was finally over and the group of seven friends were talking together.
"we should hang out somewhere now, if you guys aren't busy." namjoon suggested while everyone else agreed.
"yeah, but where?" hoseok said.
"as long as it doesn't involve me having to put effort in something, i'm cool with anything." yoongi said.
"how about the fair? it'd be fun!" everyone agreed. taehyung was nervous though.
they all walked together, it was 4pm. the same time as in my dream. taehyung thought to himself.
everyone walked ahead while taehyung was lost in thought, slowly walking.
"hey. are you okay?" jungkook said, noticing the boy thinking too hard about something.
"hm? o-oh yeah i'm fine..." taehyung said, smiling slightly and looking up to see jungkook.
the two walked together, talking a little about random things. taehyung smiled, he thought about the jungkook in his dream.
they all arrived at the fair, everyone excited about different things.
"i wanna go on the rides!"
"i want food!"
"i wanna go to the arcade!"
jimin, yoongi and hoseok were the ones wanting to go on the rides, namjoon and seokjin wanted to go eat, taehyung and jungkook wanted to go to the arcade.
everyone started arguing about what they did first. people around them threw judgmental glares.
"okay, okay, we'll just split up and meet later" namjoon suggested.
"then, me and taehyung will go to the games." jungkook held taehyung's hand and continued speaking "you and seokjin can go eat first, yoongi, jimin and hoseok, you guys can go on the rides"
everyone agreed with jungkook's plan and split up.
taehyung and jungkook walked together, still holding hands. they made their way to the arcade and saw a claw machine.
taehyung immediately ran up to it, determined to get the massive teddy bear in it. quickly, the boy put a coin into the machine and attempted to get the teddy bear.
taehyung failed and pouted, obviously he didn't get it. they were difficult as hell. jungkook smiled and walked behind taehyung. he placed his hands on top of taehyung's and attempted to help him win it. taehyung, meanwhile was blushing.
the claw went down and grabbed the teddy bear, it moved and dropped it into a hole thingy and jungkook grabbed the stuffed toy.
taehyung was shook and smiled before hugging the other. he mumbled a thanks receiving a smile in return.
the two continued to play other games in the arcade. both of them won and lost to each other at times but still enjoyed it.
-
the two had just finished eating, they walked around the fair. they both held hands, smiling.
they stopped at a big ferris wheel and jungkook looked at the other.
"let's go on it!" he said, excitement filling him.
"o-ok" taehyung said, scared about it. jungkook, noticing this, squeezed his hand and gave him a reassuring smile.
"it's okay, you'll be fine."
-
the two were now on the ferris wheel and smiled at the view. taehyung became less scared, his hand still in jungkook's.
everything looked beautiful, taehyung looked over to jungkook, still hurt that his crush would never love him but at least they were friends. he smiled and continued to look at the view.
slowly, the ferris wheel came to an end and the two boys hopped off, still smiling and holding hands.
they both walked together and met up with the others.
everyone discussed about what they did. everyone had fun.
namjoon had broken the cutlery given when he and seokjin went to go eat. the elder of the two nagged him and apologised when he had broken other things as well.
yoongi's face was normal when on the rides, jimin was smiling and having fun. however, hoseok was yelling and scared on all the rides.
everyone laughed. taehyung looked at the people around him.
they may or may not be better then my dream. but i'm happy. these guys are funny and stupid. at least i have them.
-
taehyung and jungkook ended up walking home together. they reached taehyung's house and jungkook looked at taehyung who was carrying the teddy bear he bought earlier.
"taehyung? could i possibly have your number? that is..if you don't mind." jungkook said.
"y-yeah. sure" taehyung said. he gave the other his number and hugged him. "today was fun kookie, thanks for hanging out with me and for the teddy." taehyung smiled.
"it's fine tae, i had fun too and it's okay" jungkook smiled back at the other boy, hugging him as well.
the two let go and smiled once again.
"bye taehyung, i'll text you when i get home" jungkook said.
"bye kookie!" jungkook smiled at the nickname and taehyung went into his house.
()
-
taehyung made his way upstairs once he entered his house. he changed, brushed his teeth, did other things and got into bed.
he took in phone and saw the message that appeared on screen.
unknown: helloo, it's jungkook.
taehyung smiled to himself before typing a reply.
maybe he did have a chance.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Mistwalker Xyn and the Cult of Eldritch Evil
[Participant in the 2020 Royal Road Writathon Challenge] Having just graduated to adulthood, Xyn is salty about how his lackluster Awakening has resulted in his current derided status within his clan and tribe, particularly when compared to the successes of his litter-siblings. The revelation of the truth about his heritage sets in motion events leading to him traveling to human lands on a secret mission for his tribe. Cringeworthy moments and awkwardness will ensue as young Xyn (an anthropomorphic tiger-kin), raised in the sheltered life of a martial artist, navigates human society with a trusty sidekick or two picked up along the way and might just save his corner of the world while he's at it. Gore will be minimally present as needed to tell a fantasy martial arts tale. There won't be any sexual content, but mild/vague suggestive themes may occur occasionally due to the nature of Xyn's mission and his insecurities. Story should be teen appropriate. Thanks for reading! [Background for the cover art is courtesy GG-graphics via Pixabay.]
