"was that good?" shouted haley from across the rink sarcastically. she had unsuccessfully attempted to perform a triple lutz, even though she was well aware that she could only do one at her current stage of training.

"don't do that, you might get injured and your filming will be set back," scolded nathan chen, the gold medalist for skating in the 2022 beijing winter olympics. he was helping haley train for her upcoming movie where she had to play a figure skater who was a drug addict. the idea was a bit like that of the movie flight (2012), except she wasn't a pilot. "focus on what you're supposed to be doing now."

"nathan, i'm doing all the classes, i'm doing all the lessons, i really have to learn it soon—"

"i know that you wanna do all of it yourself, but there's a reason why stunt doubles exist, you know. so that you can do the rest of the movie. uninjured." he added sternly, offering her a hand to get up. even though he was two years younger than her, he took skating very, very seriously, even when he wasn't the one competing in the sport. "you've only been training for a month!"

"fine," haley conceded, grabbing his hand and standing up from the ice where she'd fallen. "i still have to learn it, though."

"haley, you've got two whole years to practice that." nathan shook his head, then noticed something in the distance. "is that..." she turned to see him pointing at someone. they were at the edge of the rink farthest from the entrance, so it was hard to make out the person's figure. but haley recognized him immediately.

"timothée!" she exclaimed, skating over to the opposite side of the rink where he was to give him a hug.

"hi," he breathed, smiling at her.

"i missed you." she mumbled, burying her face in his shoulder.

"same here." timmy answered, gently rubbing circles around her back. he hadn't seen her properly in about three months. the last time he did was when he visited her for three days in california that august, before he had to go to venice again in september for the dune: 2 premiere. "listen, i'm sorry i missed your birthday, i swear i really wanted to celebrate but work—"

"trust me, i know. wanna go for a walk?" she offered, leaning on him for support as she yanked off her blades and switched to a pair of slides she had by her bench.

"sienna would love that."

"you brought her?!"

timothée grinned. "she's outside." so they exited the skating rink and opted to lounge outside by the parking lot that chilly day in november. "so, uh, how've you been?"

haley smiled up at him. she missed his presence in general, and to be walking around with him and sienna felt like she was back in march earlier that year. "i'm good, i'm good... nathan keeps me at it. i've got lots of different lessons and trainings to do."

"right... don't you do, like, pilates everyday? for half an hour?" he furrowed his eyebrows, trying to recall what she told him before.

"a whole hour now." she confessed. "and two hours of ballet in the morning."

"you must be tired!" he said, his voice laced with concern. "and you're not filming till 2025?"

"i mean, they film me practicing sometimes, just for extra montage things and stuff, and sometimes also when i'm practicing the three main sequences because they need clips of my character falling and all that... but aside from that, nothing."

"don't you take rests?" he asked.

"of course i do. i've got sundays off."

his disbelief was immeasurable. "and you're gonna be doing this for two years?"

"i've started filming my show over the summer, then i'm going to london next year to film the woolf biopic, then i'm coming back to finish the show next summer."

"right." he nodded. "so that's why you're working your ass off now?"

"pretty much."

timothée sighed at the idea of haley working so much. "i think you deserve a rest."

"i've been thinking of that too." she assured him. "i mean, it's a given that i won't be able to practice as much when i'm filming for other movies but also, my body's just so sore all the time now and it's so much harder to fall asleep. then again, training ends next week on tuesday."

"still, you could ask your coach!"

"it's not that easy," she insisted, leaning against his chest. she tugged at sienna's leash so their dog would stay put. at that moment, the back door of the building in front of them opened and timothée saw a tall lady walk out.

"hale— oh, hello." the woman held out her hand despite looking utterly awestruck of timmy. "big fan, i love your work, i, uh... could i have a photo?"

haley lightly prodded her boyfriend with her elbow. "yeah, no problem." he replied, after a beat.

"hi coach alice." haley said, once the photo was taken.

"am i breaking something up here? i can go if you want..."

"no no, it's fine." timmy assured her.

"okay, you're kinda involved in this anyways so." haley's skating coach scratched her head. "nathan's put it in my head to give you a break." she said finally. oh. maybe it was that easy, thought haley. "i have to admit, you've been working really hard, harder than some professional skaters i've trained before. and uh, yeah! we thought you'd like to... take the weekend off, maybe?"

"it's only friday." frowned haley. "i end on tuesday, don't you think i should finish—"

"we were a bit, how do i say this? a bit doubtful of your dedication at first, but you really put your whole heart into it and i think with all your practice, you might just have spedrun our two-year plan. the lutzes, however— you could improve those for sure. call me when you need me, i can fly wherever you're filming if you tell me in advance, but we still have a good few months of intervals before 2025."

"oh, alice..."

"and you're done for the day. bye!" at this, sienna chose to go insane, suddenly yipping and jumping everywhere as if she understood what the coach had just said.

"this is amazing." haley was too surprised to speak, but when she gathered herself, she went back inside to grab her things. "this is insane." she told timothée, when she climbed in her car beside him. he was driving.

"congratulations, you deserve it." he said, a glint in his eye.

"you did something, didn't you?"

timothée must've made an appealing case to her coaches, haley thought, as she stared up at the california disneyland's hotel. apparently, he'd been planning the whole thing for weeks. he could be very persuasive.

"what about my clothes?" she asked earlier, still somewhat in shock after he told them where they were headed. he jabbed a thumb at the back and she saw two bags full of clothes. "you packed them, didn't you?" haley didn't doubt it, since he had the keys to her house and everything.

"i might've had help."

"what do you mean? from whom?"

"well, we're meeting up with tom there so..."

and that's what they did. the afternoon they arrived was spent unpacking for a long weekend and getting ready for the day ahead when they'd wander the theme park. haley learned that zendaya had planned to join them the next night, flying in from the city where she was filming her new show. tom was already there, and finn, cole and edvin were too.

then, the next day: "where do you wanna go first?" timothée was a bundle of energy, bouncing on his toes. he had just taken a couple of photos of haley at the entrance of the park and she thought that his excitement was extremely adorable.

"anywhere you want. i haven't been here in years."

"me either. what does one usually do at disneyland?" he asked tom. the other three friends had walked off on their own, so timtomhaley were left to themselves.

"i dunno, man. i usually go here with cameras for movie press." tom holland answered, scratching his head. the three of them looked at each other, before electing to just walk around and see where they could go.

"do you think anyone's gonna notice?" haley asked, adjusting the mask she had on her face. yes, it was 2023, yes, the covid situation was almost nonexistent— but any opportunity to hide her face from public was welcome.

"what, that they have a two time oscar and grammy winner walking in their midst? when you're covered up like that?" timmy gestured to her appearance. "only the real ones would."

"mm, but we have spiderman right next to us." she pointed out.

"i'm trying, alright?" tom's thick accent came muffled from under his own mask. just then, one girl came up to him with a phone.

"fucking hell, it hasn't even been twelve minutes since we entered." cursed timothée under his breath. only haley heard him, and she stifled a laugh. how were they supposed to last a day? the two of them watched as tom respectfully declined for a photo, explaining that he was trying to 'have a normal day out with friends'. thankfully, she understood and left, but not after making her admiration for his work very clear.

"i'm making a tally." tom sighed, pulling out his notes app and noting down 'I'.

"how about let's go to that place that takes pictures of you during the ride?" suggested timmy.

"i think that's called splash mountain." haley said, searching it on her phone.

"there's a big thunder mountain and a splash mountain?" he asked, in confusion.

"i think so. big thunder is the one i went on last time i was here when i was a teenager, i think it's over there." she replied, pointing to the right.

"wow. you discover something new everyday, i guess."

"what if we just walk around and eat?" asked tom.

"i'm not a rollercoaster person, so i support that."

later that afternoon, after they exhausted all possible rides and ate so much sweets to foster cavities, timothée, tom and haley made their way to the castle for a couple of photos.

"smile," tom said, holding up a phone to capture a picture of the two loves with the disney castle behind them. they obliged, with haley leaning into timmy while he held onto her waist. then, to haley's surprise, he took her by the face and locked lips with her. she returned the gesture easily, falling into the kiss as he dipped her over to the side.

"get a picture of that?" timmy grinned at tom.

"definitely. i'll send them to you no—" tom was interrupted by the ringing of a phone. thinking that it might've been zendaya, timothée and haley left him to it. that was until tom grabbed haley's arm. "i have to tell you something." the brit said.

"what is it?" haley asked, furrowing her eyebrows. timothée watched with a hint of annoyance as tom leaned in to whisper something in haley's ear. what weren't they telling him? it must've been bad though, since haley immediately paled at the news.

"is something wrong?" he asked, looking between them, confusion etched all over his face.

"it's all fine, all fine." haley replied immediately. right away, timmy could tell that nothing was.

"how about let's grab a bite somewhere, yeah?" asked tom. he let haley lead the way to a restaurant up ahead, one that was named the stage door cafe. "it was cole," whispered tom to timothée. "said he spotted her ex here and wanted her to watch out, but he doesn't want finn to find out."

"which ex?" he whispered back.

"that alex bloke." upon seeing timmy's face, tom frowned. "has she not told you about him?"

"she has, of course she has." he replied, shaking his head. "just... i didn't know she was still hung up on him." that made timothée nervous, knowing that there might be someone who might take haley, the girl he loved, away from him again.

"she's not hung up on him, mate. she just hasn't got closure yet. do you know what he did to her?"

"do you?" he was growing a bit more frustrated at the fact that tom knew more about this alex person than he did.

"he hurt her pretty bad." was the only answer he got.

"do you guys like funnel cake?" asked haley, who was seated at a table for three.

"you okay?" timmy asked, when he sat down next to her.

"tom told you?" she asked. he nodded. "i'm fine. this is a big park so... we're not gonna spot him, it's fine."

"it is," he assured her, rubbing circles on her hands.

however, just half an hour later, just as they were about to get up, timothée noticed haley freeze. fuck. was it him?

"ignore him." it seemed like tom had noticed haley's body language too and made a deduction, despite not turning around to look. "don't stare," he advised timmy.

he became all too aware of how her eyes dropped down onto her lap, how she pulled out her phone and began typing, even though he was sure that she hadn't opened a single text message to send to someone.

a couple of seconds later, timothée felt the air around him sort of clog up. he knew that someone was standing somewhere behind him as he was still seated. then, a hand reached out and tapped haley's shoulder. she turned around slowly.

"hi, excuse me?" a teenage boy asked. he was standing alone, but had a bunch of disney merch in his hands. "so sorry to bother you, i'm sure you're trying to keep it low-key, but my girlfriend and my sister are big fans and it'd mean the world to them if you just signed this."

haley smiled and obliged. "they're lucky to have you." she said kindly, before he walked away.

timmy let a sigh of relief, til another hand tapped haley's shoulder. she turned around easily, expecting another fan, but she was mistaken.

she and timmy turned to see a tall guy towering over them, staring down at her. "alex." haley's voice sounded strangled.

"can we talk?" alex asked. timothée hated him instantly, the way he spoke lazily, his tall build— he wasn't just mad that this guy had done something to hurt haley, but he was jealous, too. the fact that they spent more time together than timmy ever did with her made his blood boil, and what did the asshole do? he broke haley's heart when he had all her love. timmy had no respect for that. what was that taylor swift lyric? my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it, he thought. if he had haley, which he did, he didn't plan on ever letting her go, though that thought felt like it was slipping from his grasp.

"we were just about to leave." tom said, staring at alex from his seat. timmy admired his calm, outer disposition.

"haley," her ex nudged, not being swayed by tom. "i need to talk to you."

"alex..."

"please? i swear it'll be quick," the guy said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"get your hands off her." timothée said. "if she doesn't wanna talk, leave her alone!"

"ahh. so this is the twink you're fucking, hm?" alex smirked.

"shut the fuck up, alex, you don't get to talk." haley snapped.

"i need to talk to you, the way we left things weren't right. please haley, i swear." at this, she looked over at her boyfriend for support. timmy nodded encouragingly. tell him to fuck off, his eyes said.

"why should i talk to you when all you've done is hurt me?" she demanded. "when all you've done since i saw you was spread cheating and abuse rumors about me after i won my oscar? now you wanna talk?" she asked in disbelief.

"give me a chance, please." the way he spoke irked her. she didn't owe him shit, but she also knew that needed that closure.

"really quick." she conceded, getting up to go with him somewhere private.

"i'm going with you," timmy said instantly, pushing his chair back as he stood up.

"no." alex said.

"you're the one who wants to talk to me." haley pointed out. "they're coming with us, take it or leave it."

so the four of them made their way to a deserted spot, under a couple trees where no one would spot them. to respect their privacy, the two t's stood with a respectable amount of distance. just enough that they wouldn't hear the conversation, but near enough that they could grab haley. just in case.

timothée watched haley converse with alex, animated gestures and frowns taking over her features. he looked at the person opposite her. alex was so tall, taller than he was. he couldn't have been less than 6'3 feet, and he was downright handsome. he had a strong jaw and more muscles on his arms than timmy did on his whole body. haley's ex was causing him some insecurities, bringing back the 2018 him who was shy and terrified of the whole industry, and timothée hated it.

he was jolted out of his reverie when he heard a shout. "i can't STAND you!" haley told alex, before walking over towards him and tom.

"you alright?" he asked, scanning her face. good. no heartbreak, no sadness, no tears. just anger. "let's go?"

"haley—" alex reached out for her waist.

"don't you fucking touch her." timothée said angrily.

"you're such a little bitch, you know that?" alex gave timmy a once over, before shaking his head.

"shut up, shut up!" said haley angrily, her hands in fists as to avoid hitting alex. this time, her voice was starting to crack.

"what, you're crying for what?" alex asked condescendingly. "there's nothing to cry about—"

"you really aren't gonna change, are you?" haley interrupted. "i haven't heard a single apology come from your mouth, selfish ass."

"you didn't give me a chance to speak!" he insisted. timmy rolled his eyes. sure.

"excuse me?! you were running your mouth to me the whole time over there and i haven't heard you say 'sorry' once!"

"fuck. haley, c'mon, don't be like this."

"i'm not being like anything. i'm trying to have a good time with my friends and i made time for you, even when you just did what you've been doing to me for those two years we were together."

"i haven't done anything!"

"have you forgotten how you were cheating on me?" she hissed, looking around carefully and lowering voice upon noticing passerby. "how you, i dunno, tried to rape me on the floor of my living room?"

timothée choked. he looked up to read alex's reaction. his eyes were dark and stormy. "did you forget how you threw waterbottles at me? how you tased me? i ended up unconscious!"

"that was all self-defense because you were on top of me trying to yank off my pants!" she said defensively. "listen alex, i don't wanna hear any weird shit from you. i forgive you, i've moved past you, and i can only just ask you to please stop bothering me at this point."

"you forgive me?" he asked. "give me another chance." at this, timmy was ready to throw a punch, though he knew that he'd be pummeled into the 2050 if he tried.

"bye, alex." haley said. she nodded to tom and timothée, and they took that as their cue to leave.

it turned out that cole had only told tom, not wanting to make haley's brother agitated. it was evident that dinnertime, as he joked around while sour mood settled over timmy and haley.

"what's the matter?" finn asked, when haley stood up to leave. she excused herself, saying that she wasn't feeling well from 'all the rollercoaster rides'. she'd been gone for almost twenty minutes when timothée got up, telling them that he'd check on her.
