Josh turned to Brendon, his eyes wide. "What the fuck? Why would he get into my dad's car?"

"Why do you think?" Brendon replied. "Tyler isn't cut out for this, Josh. Mr. Dun is gonna kill him."

Josh felt his chest restrict. He pushed himself from the window and ran to the door, throwing it open without a second thought. Brendon trailed behind him aimlessly, following his friend as he bolted down the apartment building's stairs.

They made it to Brendon's car and Josh slid into the passenger seat. He waited for Brendon to get it, his leg bouncing nervously and his arms crossed.

Brendon started the car. "Mind telling me where we're going?"

"We're following them!" Josh exclaimed. "Now, hurry up!"

Brendon shrugged and began to drive. He turned in the same direction as Mr. Dun's car and scanned the busy road, hoping for a sign of the black SUV. His vision was blocked by the dozens of other cars in front of him, though, so he pressed his foot harder on the pedal and sped past them, not caring that he was passing the speed limit.

Josh craned his neck to look out the window. He spotted a small, nearly empty road in the distance and pointed to it.

"That's where they'd go," he said.

Brendon nodded and sped up. He turned down the mentioned road haphazardly, cutting off a few cars in the process and receiving a flurry of angry honks.

"Brendon," Josh gaped, "look. That's the car. Brendon, speed up, we've almost got them!"

Brendon shook his head. "No, we can't make it obvious that we're following them. We have to keep our distance. As long as we keep them in sight, we'll be okay. Tyler will be okay."

Josh sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "What are we gonna do, Bren?"

"It'll be okay," Brendon replied. He paused for a moment before scoffing. "This feels too familiar."

"What do you mean?" Josh asked.

Brendon shook his head lightly. "When you were taken by the Persicos, Tyler was just like this. It's like it's been mirrored."

Josh tiredly rubbed his eyes. "He's right, isn't he? About our relationship? It's not- it's not healthy. God, we wouldn't be in this situation if we didn't have a relationship. He would be safe."

"He would be dead," Brendon said. "Josh, the only thing that was keeping him with you was the fact that he's fucking in love with you. If he wasn't, he would have tried to leave, and he would have been killed. But he's gonna be okay, alright? And right now, I'm sure he's fine because he knows that you're gonna save him."

Josh exhaled heavily. "This isn't fair."

Brendon scoffed. "Of course it isn't. Nothing is fair. But, Josh, Tyler is in trouble, and we need to focus on that. We can talk about this later, okay?"

Josh nodded stiffly. "Of course. Hey, they just turned! God, where are they going?"

"Go on Google Maps," Brendon said. "Search up places nearby, okay? You know what to look for."

Josh hummed and pulled out his phone. He began to scroll through Google Maps, only to find that there were barely any buildings nearby. He looked around, sighing at the sight of nothing but farmland. Ohio really wasn't the greatest place for the mafia.

"It's just tons of farms, Bren. They could be going anywhere." He paused to narrow his eyes, watching the car fade into the distance. "Hey, hurry up! We can't lose sight of them!"

"Hey, calm down!" Brendon exclaimed. "Josh, you have to stay calm. Just keep your eye on them, okay? I'll speed up."

The two gasped when Mr. Dun's car suddenly turned left, into a small farm. The house in the middle looked run-down and empty, and the paddock around it was bare. The grass was dead, and the remnants of trees that surrounded the land looked like measly twigs. It definitely didn't look like the sort of place the mafia stayed at, but the black SUV out the front and the collection of suited men gathered around said otherwise.

Brendon pulled to a stop. The pair leant forward, squinting so they could see what was happening. Josh gripped the carseat, his knuckles turning white as he watched his father emerge from the car. His grip tightened when Tyler was -quite literally- pulled out, his thin body roughly being tugged out of the car by another man in a suit. Josh couldn't see him very well, but he could tell that Tyler wasn't awake. The sight alone made his heart restrict.

Once everyone was inside, Brendon changed the car to drive and immediately took off. He stopped outside of the house and took a deep breath before turning to Josh.

"Let's go save Tyler."
