《Atrocities // Joshler》37

After about five minutes in the Persico mansion, Tyler realised that he didn't have a plan. He didn't know where Josh was, or how he could find an excuse to go look for him. He probably wasn't even in the mansion; they had most likely dragged him to a different location. Tyler was running purely on instinct, and it wasn't going well for him.

Albert was leading him down the stairs. His previous words were still haunting Tyler. What was he suggesting? Was he just saying it to be creepy, or was Tyler doomed?

Soon, the pair entered what looked like a living room. There was a teenage girl on the couch, sitting with her legs curled beneath her and watching TV. Her hair was brown and the exact same shade as Tyler's.

"Miss Lo? Guess who we found!" Albert chirped.

The girl -Lo, apparently-, looked up. Her eyes furrowed in confusion when she saw Tyler before they widened in realisation. She hopped up from the couch and ran up to him, engulfing him in a hug that knocked the wind out of Tyler's chest.

After a moment, she pulled back. "Wait. This is a cousin, right? I didn't misread the situation?"

Albert chuckled. "No, dear. This is Tyler, the eldest. Tyler, this is Louise."

Tyler smiled at her awkwardly. "Hi."

"Call me Lo," his cousin grinned. "They finally found you, huh?"

Albert spoke up. "No, he found us! Just came a'knockin'. Isn't that right?"

Tyler nodded stiffly. He was panicking. He hadn't thought anything through, and now he was stuck in a terrible situation. He looked around, hoping to find something, anything, that would help him, and nothing was there.

The trio were interrupted by a shout from somewhere around the house. Tyler perked up, his ears twitching as the recognisable noise made its way towards him. He looked to Albert and Lo, who were both smiling sheepishly.

Lo brought a hand to her hair, twirling the brunette stands between his fingers. "Sorry. Daddy's got someone in."

Tyler clenched his fists, the action hidden by his too-long sleeves. He looked towards the source of the sound, his heart filling with guilt-inducing relief. Josh was alive, but he definitely wasn't okay. Tyler's heart was beating quickly, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a plan. His eyes shit towards the window, where he could see the corner of Brendon's car.

Tyler gingerly slid his hand into his back pocket. He pulled out his phone, making sure to keep it hidden, and slid it into the front pocket of his hoodie. He could see just enough of it to click on Brendon's contact. Fortunately for him, Albert and Lo were talking and not paying attention to Tyler's suspicious acts.

After a few anxiety-filled moments, there was a knock on the door. Tyler's head snapped towards it, his heart filled with momentary relief. His grip tightened on his phone as it began to vibrate and wildly in his pocket. Brendon was calling him.

He pulled it out. "Sorry, I think my friend's calling me. It might be him at the door, too."

Before he could go to the door, Albert grabbed his shoulder. "Kid, you're they're family, but you're still a witness. You won't go babblin' to that kid outside, will you?"

Tyler shook his head fearfully. "No, of course not."

Albert's grip tightened on his shoulder. "You come right back, 'kay?"

Dark claws of regret were pulling Tyler through the ground. He hummed weakly, his lips tightly pursed together. He stepped towards the door, his legs shaking, and fumbled as he pulled it open. Brendon was standing there, his face red and a scowl present on his faces he harshly grabbed Tyler's arm and pulled him outside, the door slamming behind him.

"Tyler, you're fucking crazy," Brendon sneered.

Tyler closed his eyes. "I'm sorry. I don't know what to do. But Josh- Josh is here. He's here. We have to get him out, but I don't know how."

Brendon's eyes widened. "What? Tyler, did they say something?"

Tyler shook his head. "No. No, I heard him."

"Heard him?" Brendon repeated skeptically. "Jesus Christ, Tyler. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Tyler said. "But he screamed. I swear to God, it was him."

"You've known him for a month," Brendon scoffed, "and you look like you're having a heart attack. Come on. We're leaving. I'll come back by myself later. It was dumb taking you, anyway."

Tyler pulled his arm from Brendon's grip. "No. Besides, they won't just let me leave."

Brendon's eyes widened. "Oh my God. What have you done, Tyler?"

"Nothing," Tyler scowled. "This is the fucking Mafia, Brendon. They're not just gonna let me go."

"Don't you think I know that?" Brendon whisper-yelled, trying to keep his voice down. "I was raised into this. You've been in the life for three fucking seconds. Stop being such a fucking idiot."

Tyler raised his arms to tug at his hair. "I have no idea what to do. What would Josh do?"

Brendon opened his mouth to reply, but the door suddenly opened. Albert appeared in its place, looking eerily calm. He smiled in acknowledgment in at Brendon before turning to Tyler.

"Tyler. You should come back inside. You want to meet your aunt, don't you?" Albert said.

Tyler exhaled shakily and shot a look towards Brendon. There was a glint in Albert's eye, like a hint that he meant something else. Tyler didn't know what he had gotten himself into. He was a witness, just like Albert had said. And he knew what the mafia did to their witnesses.
