《A Normal Transfer Student [Bleach Fanfic]》Just a typical Sunday [18]

It was a Sunday. I was lying down on the floor, reading a book. My place didn't have a TV. But I enjoyed reading, so I had no problems. My roommate, however, "How do you live like this?" said, from the kitchen.
I looked up from my book, "If you're bored, you can go out," I muttered, burying myself into the book.
"Tch," he got off his chair, "I'm going to head out," he announced.
I hummed in acknowledgement, not taking my eyes off the book. I heard the door open for a moment. And quickly closed. I continued reading for a few minutes. I placed my book down on the coffee table. I furrowed my eyebrows, "The place is pretty quiet without him," I muttered, getting up.
I adjusted my glasses and walked to the door. I closed the door behind me, stretching and inhaling. I exhaled, walking down the stairs. "Where should I go?" I muttered, looking around the housing areas as I walked. I continued walking aimlessly, simply looking around the peaceful neighbourhood.
My head perked up, seeing a forest ahead of me. The air felt different. Like someone was battling. I walked in, following the strong Reiatsu. My hand was ready to take hold of my gun. The sounds of waterfalls approached as I continued walking in. I continued further, finding myself looking at a waterfall and a small pond near it.
A figure stood in the pond. I took a few steps more and noticed it was Uryu. He was wearing his school uniform but without a tie. He stood in the water, his hand holding his blue, glowing Quincy bow. I walked over to the nearest rock and sat down on it. I watched him pull back an arrow and released it, sending it flying into the forest.

He turned in my direction, "Ned?" he looked surprised, "How long have you been here?" he furrowed his eyebrows, adjusting his glasses.
I raised an eyebrow. I thought he was pretty Reiatsu-sensitive, "I just got here," I answered. He nodded, looking away from me, "I didn't know you could mask your Reiatsu like that," he muttered, which confused me.
I blinked at him, "Mask my Reiatsu?" I repeated, giving him a confused look.
"You aren't doing that on purpose?" he asked.
I shook my head, "Nope," I answered. "I don't even know how to mask my Reiatsu," I continued.
He looked over at me, "What are you doing here, anyway?" I wasn't sure if he was annoyed or if he had a resting bitch face. Well, he did look like the type who wouldn't like spontaneous individuals. He probably won't like me if he got to know me.
"I kinda sensed your Reiatsu and got curious," I answered. I looked at him, "Sorry. I can leave if you want me to," I muttered, looking at the rock I placed myself on.
He sighed, "No, you can stay," he muttered, "But don't get in my way," I nodded, staying quiet. I crossed my legs, watching him continuously shoot out arrows. Is this how Quincies train? My eyes followed the bright blue arrow as he shot out more.
I looked at my bracelet, twisting the flower. Snap! It was a gun. I looked at Uryu, who was frozen in his spot. His blue eyes locked onto the object in my hand. "Is that..." he adjusted his glasses, "a gun..?" he sounded slightly anxious.
I nodded, "Kisuke-San gave it to me," I looked at the gun, running my finger on the petals of the flower.

"Can you shoot?" he asked, approaching me. I shrugged, "I learned how to a few days ago, though I could practice," I muttered. I twisted the flower again, seeing the gun morph into a bracelet. Uryu raised his eyebrow, "So that's what the bracelet is," he muttered, "I could help you practice shooting," my head perked up, my eyes sparkling.
Renji explained that the Quincies only used bows and arrows. So, Uryu had to be a master at aiming, right?
"Sure!" I got off the rock. "So, how do we start?" I turned to him.
"Well, it's a regular gun, right?" he paused for a while, "Right?"
"Actually, it's a little different," I muttered, "Should I tell you or show you?"
"If you could demonstrate safely, go ahead."
I pointed my right hand to the forest. The bracelet automatically snapped itself into a gun, causing me to smile. I placed my left hand over my right. I took a deep breath. And pulled the trigger. I staggered back a little due to the recoil. I regained my balance and looked over to Uryu, "I sent my Reiatsu flying like you did!"
He adjusted his glasses, "You overdid it a little," he muttered, "But we can fix that." He walked to the pond. He gestured for me to follow.
I looked at the water and my calf, "I don't think I can," I muttered.
His gaze went to my calf, "Oh," he looked away, his gaze locked on the flat rock in the pond.
"You can't put your leg in the water, right?" he asked. I nodded. "Then, you shouldn't," he came up to me. I looked at him, confused. "Don't panic, alright?" I didn't respond. The next second, he was carrying me. Bridal style. I tensed up, trying not to squirm or panic in his arms. He went into the water, gently placing me on the rock.
"Is it necessary for me to stand here?" I asked him. The breeze was cold, and I was wearing a short-sleeve shirt.
"I was trained to be a Quincy on this very spot," he muttered.
I nodded. That goes without saying. This was a very valuable spot for him. I turned to the forest, training my gun in that direction. I looked over to Uryu, "You said I overdid it?" I muttered, "So, I guess, correct me then," I shrugged, giving him a sheepish smile.

You'll see a few similarities here between this story and some existing stories, at least initially. There's a lot of inspiration drawn from both MoL and Re:Zero, though in terms of pathos and darkness, this story leans more towards the latter. Be warned, it is something of a slow burn. The main character will grow and become powerful, but a theme of this story is that power comes slowly and often at great cost.
